Yeah but he's supposedly a QB, that's the problem.

Was it a problem when Trey did it?

Trey could actually throw the ball too, withholding judgment but so I've seen no evidence Cole can.

That’s fair. I suspect we’ll have a true dual threat qb who will break some rushing records.
Think touchy Tommy except not a douche bag.

Re: 2021 Verbal: Cole Payton
I want a QB like this years Cam. Great accurate passer and has a lot of ability to run if need be.
-
Re: 2021 Verbal: Cole Payton
I've been a critic of Cole's passing ability but it looks to me like he's really improved in this area starting last year and into this year. Watch this throw and tell me that he doesn't have the arm to keep defenses more than honest: https://youtu.be/AYsW1Myxo4g?si=_GEAuJMCOx06r5pC&t=862
And while you're at it stay tuned and watch the play immediately after that. ;)

The arm’s never been a question. I think it’s accuracy and ability to read defenses where the concern is.

And check out the accuracy on that throw. 3rd and long and he puts a strike in between two defenders as he was about to get lit up by a pass rusher. He's got the ability - you can question the consistency but he's never really had a chance to build that consistency one way or the other so it's anyone's guess whether that throw was an anomaly or an affirmation.
EDIT: Here's a better angle of that throw: https://x.com/BisonReport/status/1840385699461115985

Re: 2021 Verbal: Cole Payton
It's been fun to watch Cam Miller progress from frosh to today. Just tremendous improvement. Best QB in FCS and better than most in FCS.

Opps! Wrong thread!

Re: 2021 Verbal: Cole Payton
Im just still scarred from the Wabbits INT that led to the loss a couple years ago.
For real though, I hope it's an open competition and the best QB wins.

I thought Harris was really good when called upon. Seems like when Raja was healthy, his opportunities were limited. Lots of mouths to feed. That was the deepest receiving corp in our dynasty years.
Lance, Raja, Braylon, Harris, Collins, Williams, Terhark, TEs

Single season record avg rush yds per game is 131 for an NDSU QB.

Not one post deriding Kujava for bumping this thread while the post-chipper portal is open. The fuck is wrong with you guys?!

Re: 2021 Verbal: Cole Payton
Regardless what some of you think Cole Peyton will be the starting QB next year. All this crap about him not being able to pass is based on a small sample size mostly at the end of games when very few passes were allowed.

I remember watching that throw live and thinking that’s as good of a throw a qb can make. You’re correct, it’s the consistency that concerns me.

Re: 2021 Verbal: Cole Payton
After he heals up, CP has all spring practice and summer workouts to work on accuracy; "so it is written, so it shall be done.."

Honestly thought he was graduating. Glad to hear that he could be back. Receiving corps could be even better than this season.

all time great post by my man SD. SD, you are getting soft!!! You are supporting the collective now and defending our QB! I am loving this. Now go punch a wall or something.

Re: 2021 Verbal: Cole Payton
Cole scores a tv like every 4 carries and that’s with the entire defense and stadium knowing the playcall.

Consistency? How would fans have any idea if he is consistent or not? How many games has he started in his career that we can use as evidence that he is inconsistent?

While watching that season progress and Entz or whomever wasn’t letting Cole pass, I assumed they were trying to set up the wacky Rabies for an unexpected pass from Cole. The only problem with that idea is, they hardly ever let him pass to the point it became obvious we were holding that play. I think sdspew knew it was coming on that play. Entz or Roll just overplayed that angle. I was yelling at the TV “Don’t pass, it’s too obvious!”

He said at the G&G event in January that he'll be ready to go for spring ball although I'm sure he'll be wearing the non-contact jersey as QB1/1A anyway.
-
Re: 2021 Verbal: Cole Payton
I'm interested in him being able to do all of the throwing so he can work on timing with the receivers.

Go to his Twitter page...he re-tweeted a picture of himself, Jackson Williams, and bunch of others at a camp in Omaha from over the weekend. Safe to say that no leg days appear to have been missed.

Re: 2021 Verbal: Cole Payton
I’ve been collecting crows to make the haters eat when Cole wins the award rightfully named after him and leads us to another NC by defeating some school no one has ever heard of in the quarterfinals (southern Louisiana technical institute for the developmentally challenged) then a Montana in the semis and the rabbits in the NC.
I’ve been fattening these birds up because there’s a lot of you to feed but now I don’t think I can do it.
These birds are bros, bro. Smarter than the average bviller by at least two years (average intelligence in the species is equivalent to an 8 year old human). What’s more, one is even helping me design plays for this years playbook thread.
Another one goes out every day and brings me back something shiny from my asshole neighbor. I have two of that bitchs wrenches, a watch and his car keys. Scottie is my best friend, he’s never stolen anything for me except Sudafed.
So anyway i can’t do it. You anti lefty power run haters are going to eat pigeon instead.
Got a bunch of those now too. They’re not bros. Bunch of retards.
Birds of a feather flock together bro. It’s a match made in culinary Hell.
