Don't the FBS now lovers think that what is good for football is good for all the schools sports??????? After all, if it's good for football it must be equally as good for the other athletics to go to a MAC or MWC, why not make NDSU a super power in all sports.
RPI for these leagues in basketball last year:
Summit #19
MAC #17
Sun Belt #15
Mountain West #3 (Shocking to me)
Not a significant difference, considering Denver and Oral Roberts should strengthen the Summit League.
Football is the only sport with subdivisions, so the FCS analogy does not work here. Actually, moving to FBS would bring the football team UP to the other sports, which are already competing nationally with the top leagues in the country when it comes to postseason play.
Football, like wrestling, is already playing in a conference not named the Summit League. I don't see the need to move the other sports, unless it is an absolute requirement made by an inviting conference. Most on here speculate that is the case, but Idaho's situation contradicts that, at least for the Sun Belt.
As I stated in my post with this question: Other than basketball, does any significant percentage of Bison fans care who the volleyball, soccer, golf, track, etc... teams compete against? I don't believe the percentage is very high at all.
The Summit League is a good fit for all sports currently playing in it.

I am on the fence with a desire to move to fbs, but I have always wanted us to be in the same conference for all sports. It just makes good business sense. Marketing dollars can be pooled to showcase a conference which transcends all the schools and the sports because the conference identity becomes as important as the individual schools. From a rivalry stamping it makes sense. Rivalries during conference play that develop will carry over to other sports making them automatically more appealing. We have very nice rivalries developing in football that end when the football season ends. SDSU is not only a natural rivalry because of proximity but also because we play them in every sport.

No. He didn't really answer the question that was asked. He simply researched how many MAC games were on TV. Big f'n deal. Other than NIU, I'm guessing that not many MAC teams played MORE games than NDSU on National TV. If they did, it was on a Tuesday night. Once again, Big f'n deal.
The argument that the MAC provides more "exposure" is laughable. The B1G and the Big 12 look at MAC programs as a joke. Why would we want to be there?

Not much different. Thanks for illustrating my point. When the lowly Gophers start respecting the MAC, call me.
I'm simply not in favor of doubling our budget for nothing.
FYI, you should also remember that a move to FBS affects the entire school. Not just the Athletic Department. While there are some potential positives to student recruitment, President Bresciani knows that going to Bismarck and asking for any money or tuition increases after a FBS move would be suicidal. Anybody with even the most rudimentary understanding of how Bismarck works knows that.
