Re: A new and better FBS thread
I was like 9 years old at the time, so do any of you old farts care to explain what Chapman and Taylor did to get us to FCS? Did it not entail clearly stating our intention to move up?
Or did we sit around and wait until the Big Sky rammed an invitation up our asses?

So you're saying, the waiting-for-the-invitation-to-be-shoved-up-our-ass strategy did not work? Someone needs to get the word out on this. I think the administration is still bent over waiting for an invitation to come in unannounced for a landing.

They were looking for the invitation but were voted down. That put NDSU is scramble mode so they started there own conference which was allowed under FCS rules. You cant start your own FBS conference under NCAA rules. NDSU might have also had a season being an indy. I wasnt around at that time.
I think this is the time frame where UND shafted us when we were looking for games.
Re: A new and better FBS thread
Well I guess NDSU should just come out and say they are looking for a future FBS conference affiliation or membership. If it’s just football only or full members and also the conference shouldn’t matter. Just get in and build up a big get better resume for a couple seasons and see what happens. MAC, MWC, CUSA, AAC or SUNB. Doesn’t matter just get in.

Interesting tactic.
Besides placating some of the fans what will that accomplish? How do you just get in????

And pissing off the SBOHE, unless those discussions have been or are being held. If not, NDSU IS basically shutting in its own bed.

Why not run a feasibility study? Get some real numbers out there not just ballpark figures that are thrown around on Bisonville and then regurgitates by McFeely. It would just be NDSU doing due diligence in the changing landscape of CFB. Don't have to burn any bridges and it would signal some interest in moving up.

Well I guess for starters they would be making it known what their intentions are. You “just get in” by looking for a future conference affiliation or membership. All one can do is seriously inquire about the interest of adding NDSU into another conference. If there is no interest at all then I guess we know how the story will go.

Yep. I agree. See what happens and go from there.
