Haven’t you heard about all his connections and influence? Just wait, he’s about to tell you…

With the amount of money he is "responsible" for, he doesn't need to personally invest. At least that is the spin he gives. :)

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Last year we lost 4-5 commits to FBS teams
Last year we lost 4-5 portals to FBS teams
happened today, and more in the coming weeks.
NDSU NEEDS TO BE FBS. PERIOD. END OF STORY. EVERY DAY THAT PASSES HURTS US.
Matt Larson must be removed. President Cook needs to pick up to phone & get us a Hot Shot AD with Connections that can make this happen.

LOL, that's nothing.
JMU has something like 20 players in the portal now, and it will only get worse.
They are going to be ravaged.
You're dreaming if you think FBS solves that problem.
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
One site has 10 players entering the portal from Ohio State after last season.

I think the difference at places like OSU, Alabama, etc. (high end P5's) is that the guys who are leaving those schools are doing it for lack of playing time or getting homesick.

I agree.
Also obviously being FBS won’t change our best playing getting poached.
Literally there is only one thing that can stop that and it’s $$$. Like maybe $100m to start the fund. Without that all schools will be subject to the top 5 schools stealing your best players.

Let’s assume, arguendo, that NIL Collectives at all schools (just for football for the sake of this discussion) were somehow legally capped at $100m—would that decrease the number of players entering the portal? For some reason, I don’t feel it would. What does that tell us.

CAS pulling out the legal words on BV! Bold!
That said, I agree with you. Kids will seek out opportunities (financial, PT, location, et al) that they feel suits them at that particular time.

I’d like to hear more about why you feel it wouldn’t.

I do because right now you have a disparity at the zero to hundred thousand range for a lot of schools. Kids will move for 100-300k.
Yes some will still move for higher competition or better conference or whatever. But larger schools being able to literally buy smaller schools players is crazy.

Same. Caps generally tend to work.

You missed the cap part and I failed to include the assumption that all schools were at that level.
IMO, and given the current transfer rules, there would be the same amount of kids entering the portal because the cap brings us back to a zero to zero score.

Good point. Isn’t it possible that a level playing field would actually increase portal use, since every school would now be a player?

But they wouldn’t. All monetary things being equal, the only difference is perceived (by players—and maybe some fans) level of play. In sum, my proposition brings us to no NIL but current portal rules, with the point being $$ are in equation right now but, even if they weren’t, we’d still have the portal issues.
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
That’s an interesting argument!

Yep if there is no monetary incentive then you are back to playing time.

Staying out of political issues is itself political.
Universities should have as comprehensive and interaction with society as possible including the political, because everything is political

It has more to do with what the admin has and hasnt done when it comes to special student groups.
When a universities actions and and political leanings veer off the path of the beliefs of those those that give you can expect those revenue streams to dry up.
But its nice that you can tell the university that donars can keep their money. Thats big of you.

I though this was a new and better FBS thread. Doesn't seem betterer.

Well in fairness, defending invaders that burned and decapitated babies goes a little beyond "differing views".
And there I go....sucked in again.

Christ! Just stop. Religion poisons everything. You don't need to prove that here.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
The problem isn't NIL or even the transfer portal. It's that there's 1) Massive tampering going on and 2) It's happening while the sport is still being played
More proof that the NCAA is an organization to serve the rich schools and no one gives a fuck about FCS

THIS is correct and makes the FCS even more OBSOLETE because the PLAYOFF RUN WILL HURT NDSU.
#1 players will portal out and not stay with team during the run
#2 NDSU coaches cant recruit the portal while game planning
#3 FCS playoffs is actually a bad thing now. so FBS is where we need to be ASAP!

I didn’t quite catch the reference when you posted it, fwiw. And you didn’t quote what you were replying to, could have helped…

Come on there has been massive tampering since they started to play this game. Now its just out in the open.

Can extend that to include the G5 schools. Anything outside the top 20 P4 for that matter.
