These 'loser' teams are the only ones that have figured us out. Like it or not, they are no longer below us. They make us better, but sadly, we've also made them better.

MAC? MW?
Maybe a new conference? There will be B1G teams that simply cannot hang in that conference that could benefit by joining. The Northern Plains Conference. I like that.
At this point NDSU needs to find away to move up so were the only upper midwest G5 school. I think it would be would an advantage for us.

Sounds like they are hot in a scheduling alliance with the mountain west so not seeing that.

Sources: Conference USA is expected to add Delaware as a new member for the 2025-26 season.
Fuck OFF MATT LARSON
This has been floating a while now, along with Tarleton, SFA, WCU, UMass.
CUSA just trying to fill in their territory. All about geography.

Our best option remains MWC, and failing that, maybe MAC.

BYU not indie anymore, and UMass may not be either.
Looks like soon only ND will be independent, and they are effectively an ACC team with their arrangement.
Scheduling would be near impossible.

Gotta read the comments in the tweets to see what the rest of the country feels about the CUSA. Guessing a FBS split is also getting closer and closer.

The reality is that if the NDSU leadership had any foresight and vision they could have pushed for CUSA to be a more Centrally located conference. If NDSU, Missouri State, SDSU all would have thrown their hat in the CUSA ring early on I think there would have been a migration toward that geographic region of the country rather than to the SE. Instead the leadership was waiting for the perfect scenario to fall into their laps and it just isn't going to happen. They are going to have to take a risk if they want to get to the FBS. At this point it is becoming more and more likely that we are going to have to hope for a P5 split in order for us to have a chance to play against G5 competition consistently. I don't see many other options. MWC is becoming less and less likely and I don't think any other G5 conferences are going to add teams knowing that the media deals aren't there for them and it would just be splitting the revenue amongst more teams. But keep banging the drum for being patient.

That actually has some actually merit as well

That is the ugly elephant in the room.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Because facts are inconvenient:
Delaware is about 250 miles from the closest CUSA member. Four others are 700-800 miles away. Good chance UMass joins as a travel partner.
NDSU is over 1000 miles from the closest CUSA and it gets a lot worse from there.
NDSU's media deal is already more than twice CUSA's. Delaware gets to leave that cesspool that FloSports calls streaming.
Our best chance is to get the 4 Dakotas together as the northern pod when the WAC jumps in roughly 5 years. Despite the hate some have for that, it is realistic.

I bet our Iowa friends would pitch in for gas if we let them jump in.

UNI will stay with BB (MVC) first and foremost.

I don't follow the Montana teams closely, but I would imagine that they are having very similar discussions?

The downside to that is that all of the money will follow the upper tier. We'd be forced to move up because FCS would be viewed as the "C" series. Actually a step down from current status.

The WAC can't jump in the next 5 years since they don't currently have any FBS teams. They will need an exemption from the NCAA.
Moving all 4 Dakotas together would also require an exemption and would require that we find at least two other teams to join us in order to make a conference.
Both of those scenarios are just as likely (and you could argue less likely) than NDSU pushing to be a part of CUSA.
The media deal that NDSU currently has is not going to be able to be maintained if attendance and interest continues to drop.

YES! I've been saying this since 2013 NDSU goes FBS, you totally dominate Recruiting even more and you 100% get rid of the LEECHES who have sucked off NDSU for the past 10 years
shit you can use the MVFC as our own personal minor leagues and grab the top 1 or 2 players off each team to portal!

You don't need an exemption to a blatant anti-trust violation. The WAC just goes FBS and nobody will stop them. We join them as a northern pod to get 8+ FBS teams. It'll take time to get bowl contracts, but once this new conference starts winning that won't be a problem. If they don't win they don't belong so it's a moot point.
BTW, both James Madison and Jacksonville St are bowling this year despite being technically ineligible. There's always a way.

Over the weekend, both JMU and JSU were included in bowl selection due to a lack of other eligible teams. They will be going to a bowl - just not sure which one yet.

So many bowls there weren't enough "normal" eligible teams to fill them.

"NCAA rules allow for second-year transitioning teams to make a bowl game if there aren’t enough 6-6 teams."
Even crappy Minnesota is going bowling at 5-7, lol

There is a shortage of 6 win teams, so they sneak in!

The last time that happened they changed the 6 win requirement. I havent seen anything where they sneek in.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
The really funny thing is Navy would be bowl eligible if they beat Army, but that game happens after bowl selection. Army would also be 6-6 with a win but they scheduled 2 FCS teams and only 1 of those counts. Can't have your cake and eat it too.
