That's not what I recall... he was a QB recruit.

Yeah Wentz was recruited as a QB
Looks like Jackson now holds offers from:
Arkansas-Pine Bluff
Grambling
Louisianna-Monroe
Prairie View A&M
Along with NDSU and Navy
Hallstrom confirms on the blog that he received an offer from Rice and that Rice is 'somewhat' his favorite.

Jason Pomerenke talks about his verbal to NDSU... still coming.
In other news, Generalisimo Francisco Franco is still dead.*
* A catchphrase that predates many of the posters on this board.

My favorite part of the article:
Quote:
"The NDSU program has an architecture major and you can get a masters there in 5-years and I'm hoping to do that", Zach says.
A member of the National Honor Society with a 3.7 GPA, Zach knows that like it or not, he's become something of a role model in Rosemount. And as such, Zach says having athletic ability is great, but without a similar effort in classroom it can be wasted.
Luckily for you, Tony...there are still a few of us old fossils around that can appreciate your references.:)

Any news on kicker recruit for NDSU? As I posted in another topic:
Sounds like SDSU got some good kicking recruits to verbal. Wish Bohl would put a greater emphasis on getting a decent punter / kicker. He does to that position like he used to with QB's (oh and Drago was a WR turned surprise great punter if someone wants to chime in with that response). According to Terry V regarding SDSU's recent recruit:
The other verbal is the second from Brandon Valley this year - Ethan Sawyer. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound senior will punt and he's ranked 18th nationally at that position. But he could also kick if necessary as he's ranked 40th at that spot. (SDSU also landed No. 52 kicker Justin Syrovatka.) And he was an all-conference linebacker this season.
Sawyer did, however, suffer a knee injury in the season finale. He's had surgery, is ahead of schedule with rehab and expects to be ready for fall camp.
For now, Sawyer will be a preferred walk-on, but he could earn a scholarship in his second year with starting punter Dean Priddy set to graduate. He had similar opportunities at UND, Montana State and UNI. USD was not in the mix even though his older brother, Sam, is a kicker there. (As an aside, Sam was seriously injured in a recent skiing accident.)
"SDSU has had a couple great kickers," Sawyers said. "I don't know if there's something in the water in Brookings or what."
Fred Jackson has committed to Rice.

Gotta love this quote from Jason (doubt recruits going to SDSU, UND or USD would ever say something like this):
Pomerenke speaks extremely high on North Dakota State.
"I thought the facilities were top of the line. I loved the coaching staff up there. They really care about the program a lot. The fans really like the game. They are really supportive."
In other words great facilities and outstanding fan support.
In my opinion NDSU got better kickers and punters back in the DII days. Drago is the exception, but even so he was not even recruited as a punter. Hey Bohl......does NDSU have to lose like a minimum of 10 games due to poor kicking before you will revise recruiting priorities just like you did at QB?
I am pretty sure that both Obarski's are gone.
I'm glad you brought this up, I noticed it a couple of days ago when I was posting about the attrition rates of various recruiting classes. I thought I had heard that, looked and saw Jason off the roster, and then for some stupid reason forgot to add him to the list of those gone off of the 2008 class.
That 2008 class is getting to look worse and worse, thanks for reminding me.
Fred Jackson committed to Rice according to Rivals.
Rats!
Another guy we have interest in is Tregg Waters (AZ) as noted before. Here's what I could dig up:
He had a track meet last year where he ran just under 11 seconds in the 100m. Most of the others I saw were at 11.5 seconds or so. He is up to 6'1" and 185 lbs according to a site. SDSU is also looking at him. He played CB and WR for a team that was about .500.
"In my opinion NDSU got better kickers and punters back in the DII days."
hhhhhhahahahhaa, well not sure about the mid/late 90's, but considering the 80's that's the funniest thing posted in a long time.
I seriously don't know. I only noticed it a few days ago when I was looking at attrition rates and found it really interesting. Then, like an idiot, I completely forgot about him not being on the roster when I posted 6/20 leaving the 2008 class. I feel like an idiot. I am glad bh reminded us.
So, Prevlitz is going to be a senior. We soon will need a P and a K, you think?
Love the 2010 class though. Hope they all stick around like the 09 class, then we will be cooking with gas.
I'm not sure if that was him or not. With the interweb stuff like that happens though so it wouldn't suprise me I guess. Don't know if that would have had an effect on his relationship with his teammates or not but I doubt it. Who knows.
Bohl promised this year he would bring in a high level kicker so we will see what happens. Don't think the walk on route has worked to well in the past.
Since we don't see much in the offer list or in the way of updates...... maybe Bohl had a secret tryout with all the current players and will "promote" from within and personally guide the development of a player currently on the roster to be the next kicker or punter........
I couldn't resist the opportunity to quote this.
Yup, Jason Obarski was the most active poster on the MinnesotaPreps.com football forum while he was being recruited. He often shared his thoughts about his about his own recruitment and his expert analysis of a bunch of other Twin Cities area recruits. :D
A little write up on Travis Beck.

Just for fun, click this link to see Beck in a Munich-Starkweather basketball game against Cando. Travis is #24 in white.

Cliff's notes:
--at the :59 mark he leaves a defender in the dust with a nice behind the back dribble.
--at the 1:51 mark he makes a nice baseline drive to his left for a layup.
--at the 2:42 mark he gets up in the air fairly high to make a nice block but get's called for goaltending (bad call).
--at the 3:08 mark hits a nice looking 3 pointer from the right wing.
--at 4:54 he drives into the lane and makes an impressive adjustment to his shot to avoid a block a scores.
--and, finally, at 5:49 a nice turn around jumper.
Another verbal
