however there have been a few recently that didn't seem to put on the weight necessary and they are gone now

I got introduced to Fred Jackson at the ndsu game friday night (DJ and Warren were his guides) seemed like a really personable kid, not a big kid at all, he was enjoying the game friday night and was really impressed with the players and coaches. I can see this kid coming here, keep the fingers crossed!!
Yeah I know......just had to rub it in a bit. So the Bison have lost about 5 guys they offered so far? Not too bad.
Question for the bunnies.....what happens if most of the top guys you think you have a shot at verbal elsewhere? Could make waiting so late to start recruiting really painful. But Stig is the man, how could that happen.
well until we beat the bunnies i am not going to question sdsu's recruiting system
According to Hallstrom's blog it sounds like Jackson enjoyed his visit but wants to stay closer to home and is waiting to see what other offers may come in before signing day.
Come on Fred. Be the next Craig Dahl or Nick Schommer. Dominate in the MVFC and get a shot at the league.
I know it's kind of a "what have you done for me lately climate" right now but I happen to be older than 3 years old so I guess my memory spans further. Even with NDSU's terrible performance last year they have a better transitional record than SDSU. Especially against D1 opponents. In the last 7 years SDSU has a 60.75 % win percentage to NDSU's 67.5%. SDSU has posted only one 8 win season since 2000. That's a long time. Craig Bohl has done it 4 of 7 years.
I guess what I am saying is yeah they, won three years in a row.... break out the champagne ....In my entire 44 years on this earth they have won in Fargo 1 time. Until they start winning in Fargo consistantly or winning convincingly, I'll stay the heck off that band wagon.
Back to recruiting. Who was the other guy in town last weekend......Fred Blow? I saw two fly out on the same flight Sunday.
I don't think it was Fred Blow. According to his rivals site he was at Montana State last weekend and he will be at West Point in two weeks. If he's coming to Fargo it would probably be next weekend since he doesn't have anyone listed on that weekend.
It must be someone else. Bohl said in an interview that they have also been in Florida. I haven't seen or heard anything out of there. It could be someone from that neck of the woods. Maybe Brenden Pierre has a brother.
well i personally beleive we gotta quit living in the past...i wanna win now, i dont care so much about how good we were 5 years ago, 20 years ago etc....i want to be good now.......do i take pride in our tradition HELL YES!, but like i said i would much rather be able to brag about the now and not the past
I'm sure this blog posting will ruffle some feathers, but hey, that's what Stu is good at.

It's interesting to see what effect on the media Bisonville & SDSUfans have. If somebody had enough motivation and an entrepreneur mind, it would probably be worthwhile to start a website that focuses on the four area DI schools.
It would include news postings and forums and would have to make money off of a sponsor, but it seems like within this age of technology this medium for "fandom" could be profitable. I mean even credited news reporters read these forums for tips to rumors and also to see what the fans are interested in.
The part of this blog most relevant to NDSU says that a talented high school football player (in this case, Trevor Gebhart) who committed early to an FCS school (NDSU) might have de-committed had an FBS school (Iowa) come in with a late scholarship offer. Hardly shocking or unique.
A commentor calling himself "WillieMays" summed up this blog post--and Stu Whitney's approach to "journalism"--better than I ever could:
Quote:
Into a black cauldron filled with rancid water, toss a rat's tail. Maybe add a bat's wing. Add a little hair from a rabid dog. Then stir, stir, stir.
Stu is the worst in the business. Both SDSU and NDSU fans agree on that. Talk about short man syndrome. Get over it. I am so tired of TV and Stu comparing recruits to NDSU. Hallstrom doesn't do it when we get a kid. We don't constantly talk about how "faith" is a part of a decision. Simply, he chose NDSU. PERIOD.
According to Stu (worst reporter ever) NDSU is the "Evil Empire". Hey Stu you look like crap all the time. How about you clean up your look and your act.......then you might have a chance of someone considering you to be a professional. Excerpt from Stu's blog:
So the state of South Dakota loses another bright athlete to the evil empire up north, in the name of seeking football glory. Let's just hope he has a chance to experience beating SDSU during his time of eligibility, because those wins haven't been piling up of late.
OK I don't care if it is a SDSU, NDSU or Minnesota recruit but for a writer to take shots at the kid for his choice and then also take pot shots at the father. Maybe Stu needs to spend some time in Finishing School. I see why the Jackrabbits even disown him on their board.
Stay Classy Stu, Stay Classy.
Go back and read what Hallstrom wrote about Dudzik and you will see comparisons with SDSU.
As far as mentioning the kid's faith, it's a straight quote. With each recruit Terry V tries to ask why they chose SDSU. These last two players decided to mention that they are men of faith and so is Coach Stig as one of their deciding factors. I don't believe that Terry V is going out of his way to report that fact, it's just listed as one of the reasons same as location or facilities.
The coaching staff is typically given as a reason, but these two players are first I've seen who have said that their faith was a deciding factor.
Was there some sort of "dead period" for recruiting recently? It seems like there has been a little less recruiting news out there and a "dead period" was discussed when Kiffin left for USC. I wasn't sure what that referred to.
Can't wait for signing day!
yeah, NDSU basically has their entire class verbally committed for several weeks now. We have maybe a few unknowns left. Some coaches in the Missouri Valley are just getting off their Lazyboys to hit the recruiting trail. Coach Bohl just happens to take a more proactive approach.
Did somebody give Stu a verbal lashing because of the rumor he started, while talking to USD's coach, about a recruit by name during the recruiting period?Quote:
When it was mentioned through Argus Leader Media (first by myself, then by Terry Vandrovec) that Gebhart was still listening to offers despite his verbal commitment, some of the more brilliant members of Bison Nation jumped to the conclusion that South Dakota State was positioning itself to lure Gebhart, when no one had suggested that and the Jacks never made him an offer.
He is probably getting info from his boy Meierkort, who claimed NDSU is a recruiting bully, and is no doubt sad that he couldn't pry Gebhart away.
Here is a link Hammersmith put on the board up north. It shows the dead periods and others

sdsu is so envious its unreal. so sick of all 4 of there fans.
You mean our rival school is comparing its recruits to ours and a reporter from that state is typing mean things about us. Oh the horror. I find it funny he refers to us as the evil empire. Even when the Jacks beat us three times in a row they still see the NDSU vs. SDSU thing as us being the New York Yankees and them being everyone else who can't compete.
Who cares? This guys is obviously an idiot who thought he was going to write early and break a big story and now is wrong about it happening and probably either got his ass chewed for either even bringing it up or realized he was wrong and is trying to cover his ass. Sounds pretty familiar.
Here is your direct quote from Hallstrom's blog.
"Coach Cooper told me that NDSU already had 18 commitments for next year and that they were really excited about last year's recruiting class, too. They've had a couple down years but it looks like they're going to get back to where they were. I saw that South Dakota State only had one or two guys committed, so it just seemed that NDSU had something good going on."
Hallstrom doesn't have Brookings Envy. Trust me.
