Right, and compare that to what the MW (and AAC) schools are getting now from their media deals. If they can afford it, it’s absolutely the best play.

Insiders saying Utes to the B12 tomorrow. B12 told the Utes their spot is saved but need an answer by the end of the weekend.
Arizona to make it official tonight at the BoR meeting.

At this point I’m being optimistic more than anything. It does seem like it would work, but there are definitely issues they’d have to sort out.
Hoping the B10 doesn’t want anything to do with CaliStan and they hold pat at 4. They can build a conference back with 4.

I saw floated the idea that the BIG take Cal, Stanford and the Pacific Athletic Conference name. Go to 20 split east-west as Pac10 and Big10.

and then play a conference championship game.....they could call it the Rose Bowl...oh, wait.
god only knows where this ends.

The Pac 12 owes Comcast 50 million bucks due to an overpay on the Pac 12 network. The soon to be 4 remaining members probably don't want to be on the hook for that just to keep the name. I am sure there will be litigation over all of this.
I believe Stanford will go independent in football and find some place for their others sports. Cal may be lumped in with OSU and WSU now. That would mean a 15 member MW should they go there.
I am sure none of those schools are happy and I feel bad for their fans. However, there is a reason they are left behind. Their brand is not strong enough to get AAC and MW schools to pay exit fees to join what would be a second G5 conference in the west. Not good..
It is still possible all 4 will land somewhere else. I am bummed this happening. I have lots of friends and family members who are Pac 12 graduates. My wife graduated from Oregon State.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Word in OKC Big XII media land is Arizona to announce Big12 invite in next day or so and Utah and Arizona State to follow

Everything old is new again, yet nothing is new under the sun.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
PAC presidents meeting shortly to be presented a new Grant of Rights in a last ditch effort to see who is committed to the conference.
Potentially good news for us wanting to survive in some form.

It also sounds like the Oregon/Wash steam cooled a little over night... If the 4 corners do end up going to the Big12 and Oregon/Wash stay that likely helps us out as they would likely draw from the MWC or AAC

It would great if the Pac sticks together. I wonder if some other provider has stepped up to sweeten the pot a bit.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
PAC unable to get GoR signed. Not sure exactly why or who put the kibosh on that.
Oregon and Washington still trying to figure out the finances with the B10. Majority of the hang up seems to be on them getting a reduced share when they’d have heavy travel costs in the B10. B10’s public stance is that they don’t NEED any PAC schools and they’re currently feeling rushed to make a decision. Word on the street is that USC and UCLA are pissed about Oregon potentially being in the B10. Wanted Oregon to rot in a diminished PAC while they get all the best west coast recruits.
I think the ideal situation would be for the Arizonas and Utah to leave. Have the PAC remain at 6, they have to take 4 from the G5. If they lose Washington and Oregon, they still need at least 4 from the G5.
The best news out of all of this is that if Oregon and Wash are borderline B10, taking Cal/Stan seems out of the question.

Even if the PAC goes down to two, it will be interesting to see if they can pull off a "best of the rest" conference using the PAC branding. If the autonomous status and conference units stick there would be some value to be had. Just not sure if a combo of AAC and MWC would get a rights deal between the Apple offer and the other current deals. If the Apple Deal is the canary in the coal mine the next MWC deal and AAC deals could be going down maybe materially. AAC has more runway.
Is some combo of WSU, OSU, CSU, SMU, FSU, Tulane, UNLV, BSU, SDSUr, UTSA worth it? Filp-out AFA or Memphis for UTSA if needed, but that list would be a nice combination of football, markets, and three time zones. Also, need to move HQ to Vegas no reason to be in SFO.

With all the Herald articles trying to poison the well... sure seems like NDSU's enemies think something is going on and are trying to get out ahead of it.

Exit fees..Notice of departure timelines. Lot's of juggling balls and spinning dishes to get 4 schools from the MW and AAC for the 24/25 season. The Pac members not signing a GOR today even adds another nasty layer to the drama. I have no idea how this will play out.

PAC members need to shit or get off the pot. Pretty sure the exit fee is virtually non-existent without a media deal.
The longer they wait, the more their position and opportunities erode.
Egos of schools like Oregon and UW may be their undoing if they can't get an offer they like from B10.

The Pac members have no exit fees..The MW and AAC do. That is where the trouble lies with expansion.

Yep, if they had a GoR they could at least use that money to turn around and pay G5 exit fees. P12 has been bluffing with a whole bag of nothing. And contrary to their public comments, they lose strength every day (hour now?) that goes by.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Oregon and Wash are a done deal to the B10, according to Brett McMurphy.
That sound you hear is the Arizonas and Utah running out the door as fast as possible
Credit to Strommer10 for the text.

I was reading this post as an alert popped up on my phone saying that the B1G is going to invite Oregon and Washington lol. Funny timing

I did not have Washington and Oregon gone before Arizona.
ASU had been hesitant ... bet that just changed.

Welp, here’s to hoping that Cal, Stanford, OSU and WSU have enough self-respect to try to pick up the pieces and build back the conference.
But not so much self-respect as to admit defeat and kill the conference.
Slim margins lol
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
Stanford has one of the best athletic departments in the country with obvious elite academics, crazy what is happening to them. Cal is a tire fire from an athletic perspective, so I do get that to an extent. WSU and OSU are what they are.

Those four sitting around a table, eyeballing each other.
Then Cal catches Stanford's eye and nods toward door.
And both get up.
Without the trappings of USC/UCLA/UW/UO around, is Cali-Stan really happy with WasSU and OrSU? Happy enough to partner and rebuild with them? I see Cali-Stan calling the ACC or B1G (not likely) or going FB Indy/WCC long before.

WSU and OSU would do whatever it takes, Cal and Stanford probably wouldn't have the stomach to add some of the schools that would need to be brought in.
Cal and Stanford did this to themselves, they could have raided the Big 12 years ago but no doubt they were in the group that thumbed their noses at the likes of some of the schools that would have neded to come with to bring in the big fish.

I guess we’ll find out in the next 11 months haha
I love, love, love the fact that the B10’s public position is that they reluctantly did this or are doing people favors. FFS they are the ones that started ALL OF THIS. “We don’t want to be the ones responsible for the downfall of a power conference”. Lmao

It looks like the PAC 12 will soon be down to two, the 2 PAC.
And this all started when the B1G peeled away USC/UCLA.
Dare we say ... in the end,
2PAC was done in by Notorious B1G ... they're just trying to Hypnotize us otherwise ...

Curious where you are seeing SDSU fans saying anything negative about this as I haven’t come across anything on their message board saying stuff. Not saying it’s not happening, but you have a tendency of pulling random shit out of your ass to fit a narrative.
