"et al" is short for the Latin term "et alia" which means "and others". I listed two games where a last possession drive/score would have won the game, or put the Bison in a position for a FG to win. Too lazy to look up specific other games.

Sorry, but yeah I do (surprisingly) know what “et al” means… I am actually challenging you (or anyone) to find another game (outside of the 2 mentioned) where the Bison lost because Cam Miller failed to convert a 4th quarter drive into points which directly led to our loss. I can’t think of any. And I can think of at least 2 examples of Cam doing the opposite leading to a win (2021 SIU and JMU)…
Kinda seems like the narrative of cAm CaN’t LeAd Us WhEn It CoUnTs is total bullshit.

I'm actually on your side on this one being I am very pro-Cam, but for the sake of argument, NDSU vs SHSU in quarterfinal loss in covid season.

Ah good one. Good example too as it was a poor pass near the red zone, too. I think.

NDSU took the lead in that one in the fourth though (just like the Arizona game.) In both games, the other team scored a TD on their next drive to take the lead back. I've always thought it's a little much to ask an offense to take two fourth quarter leads - I'm not sure NDSU has won many, if any, games like that in my lifetime. I mean, 2012 Georgia Southern and 2014 ISU-Red aren't wins if the other team scored on the next drive.
Cam replaced Quincy in the Mo State game and the offense scored 2 TDs in the fourth quarter to win. NDSU scored the winning points against JMU in the fourth. NDSU had to score twice in the 4th against UIW to win. NDSU had to score 2 TDs in the 4th to beat SIU in 2022. ISU-Blue 2022 - NDSU scored the winning TD late in the 4th. The key difference between the wins and the losses is that the defense made stops after NDSU scored (well, not ISU-Blue, but their TD was too little, too late.)

Brock, Trey, Easton and Carson all played on Bison teams with a better defense and a power run game that could take over games. Now, I’m not saying Cam is better than these guys but he has to do more for the team to be successful.

Re: 2021 Verbal: Cole Payton
Agreed. 100%
Also, we all like to believe in the “NDSU == QBU” narrative but in reality, are they? Yes three consecutive players were drafted. However their collective success at the next level is underwhelming.
OTOH, how many NDSU OL have achieved and maintained next level success in the same time frame? How much do those players deserve of the hype that landed on the QBs?

Re: 2021 Verbal: Cole Payton
Last 3 QB's Drafted to NFL and 2 of the QB's that left NDSU played in SEC & AAC. Cam hasn't done any of those, nor will he.
Cole passes the Eye Test of a NFL QB, He's 1 of the fastest QB's in the Nation and has a big big Lefty Arm.
if NDSU is QBU then Cole Should be the starter next year and Cam should be quietly told to try out for the NFL/XFL or transfer somewhere.

Lol "played in the SEC and AAC"...Zeb was by default bc South Carolina didnt have a healthy QB and Quincy didnt do shit at Temple. Not to mention Temple sucks and NDSU would beat them. If Cam entered the portal he would definitely garner plenty of high level G5 interest.
-
Re: 2021 Verbal: Cole Payton
Oh so SEC & AAC QB's was the truth. thanks G Funky!
Cam should go then! Because NDSU needs Cole Payton for 2 years else he is gone.

why do you insist on being so obnoxious.
i wasn't confirming what you said, i was saying that it wasnt like those guys went to their new schools as a hot commodity and benefited themselves and/or the school they played for. So to somehow use that as leverage in your argument is just nonsense. .

Re: 2021 Verbal: Cole Payton
I'll take Cam for another year and wish Cole the best if he decides to transfer. I tend to think Cole is a "those who stay will be champions" type player unlike his fanatics on here.

Quincy P passed the eye test and had those attributes as well.

Love to see Cole get a shot to lead the team for an entire game with a balanced game plan. I think this would change the minds of the Cam lovers and Cole haters. Just total crap to judge Cole on the intermittent few chances he gets in games. Our coaching staff are idiots for the way they have used Cole.

I'd guess there's zero Cole haters on this board.
what have you seen, besides the few intermittent chances he gets in games that he should play before Cam?

It is also total shit to rip on a QB who is at the moment one of the best in the FCS. Absolutely embarrassing too be honest. Doesn't surprise me with either of you 2 whining about it, however.

I’m very pro-Cole… I’m would support him getting a few starts next year if Cam decides to stay. But people on here who think Cam sucks and THAT’S WHY Cole needs to start instead of Cam, I don’t see it. Cam has been VERY effective. I think Cole could be just as effective, needs more live game reps and more throws.

You are being unbelievably trite. NFL QB's are getting over 50 mil a year now. It's not about FCS championships. It's about being a mega-millionaire in your mid-twenties. It's about making your mark in NFL history.
But his true ability is yet to be proven. People's brains operate at different speeds. It isn't often talked about because it is hard to measure. How fast can a body react to what the eyes see and the brain interprets? A truly great QB will always have super fast brain speed. I would put my money on Aaron Rodgers as one of the fastest.
Cole has all the physical stuff and then some; but, will his brain be fast enough. IMO, this aspect is enormously underrated, and is why a lot of 1st round QB's fail.

Most of what I have said is Cam doesn't have IT and has not led the team back from behind in key games. If that is ripping on him I guess you are a bit sensitive. The most criticism he got and deserves is for the 1 for 12 passing against UIW in a playoff game.

No clue what you are talking about and I hang here a lot.
Is he better than Cam? Overall no, not from what i have witnessed. Not yet.
Can he be superior? Sure, maybe, with time and practice
Does anyone here dislike him? FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
You should ask yourself: who’s overly sensitive here? It ain’t Cam. It ain’t Cole. It ain’t any of the so-called meatheads. It ain’t even BV*. Who could it be?

I'm of the opinion that Cam would get P5 interest. If Iowa needed a QB I bet they would get him a very nice NIL
Also, I believe I'm the closest to a Cole hater on the board, though mostly because of his weirdo Stan's.
I really don't see much of a gap between Cam and Stick. Both are undersized and quick with a good but slightly underwhelming arm.

Re: 2021 Verbal: Cole Payton
Cam has improved immensely since 2022. It's safe to say he's a top 5 in FCS this season, so the Bison could benefit from another year of his play.
If I understand everyone's angle, their saying Cole will leave if Cam stays but will stay if Cam leaves. Correct?
So you're willing to trade the one Cam year for two Cole years. Correct?
What is to say he wouldn't play a year and enter the portal? Or the draft if he would have the success some of you think he would?
I know this is just a forum and the point if these discussions is purely entertainment, but some of you sound like the overbearing future motherinlaw taking over the wedding planning!

One important distinction imo is some think we would be trading 1 yr of Cam for no years of Cole.

Re: 2021 Verbal: Cole Payton
Cam Miller has developed into one of hell of a QB. I’d rank home right up there with our best ever in FCS. Seems like people are blaming him for our failures—a few losses (which, compared to 95% of FCS teams are not that), when, in reality, the failures have come from others, like playcalling, poor defensive play, poor line play, etc. (et. al?).
I’m a big supporter of Cam. And that’s not a knock on CP … Cam is a great player/QB IMO. He makes throws that Jensen, Walker and Stick didn’t or couldn’t. Doesn’t have the arm talent Wentz did, but I think he is overall a better FCS QB than Wentz. They all had their individual skill sets.
And I’ll defend this post: Bring it.

With this team and these coaches?—nope. I play Cam Miller. But I’d expect Stick to get snaps/QB runs, cuz he was better than CP at running.

I agree that Stick was a better runner than what we’ve seen from CP.
I think people forget how agile, quick and electric Stick was in the run game.
CP is a phenomenal runner and most likely is faster and stronger than Stick. But don’t discount Stick without going back and watching some highlights. Dude's three cone was off the charts. Actually almost all of his combine type numbers were super high.

I will disagree and say I think Stick is/was overall a better QB. Arm strength not as good as Wentz, sure, but accuracy was as good. You could argue Cam has better receivers, too. Like, a lot better.
As with all my takes, I’m willing to be convinced otherwise. Easton is the GOAT in my opinion.

Re: 2021 Verbal: Cole Payton
I think Cam is playing unbelievably well this season. He went out over the offseason and addressed his issues and came back better. I expect him to come back even better next season. He is extremely accurate and throws with great anticipation and timing.
I think Cole Payton is also very good. I have been impressed with his passes this year. He has thrown some very accurate and not easy passes.
I hope they both come back and that they are both improved over this season for next season.
That said, if I were the Iowa Hawkeyes I would do whatever I could to get Cam to transfer and play for them. Iowa State would be wise to do the same thing. Cam would be the best QB that Iowa has had in a very long time. They might actually score some points on offense and have a great passing game. Cam is much better than CJ Beathard every was.
