Has to be Northern Michigan or maybe Northern Arizona?

Couldn’t remember if the streak started in 81 or 82. It’s actually a really good guess. After I posted I looked it up and we upset them in 81 when they were ranked #1.

Man I was trying to remember Pitt and UNO games because of this thread. Really vague memories.
Then I got a 4k recreation of emporia state in my head randomly like that game was just played yesterday.
Ugh.

Not saying it wasn’t a good guess. Just a blasphemous one. Don’t ever speak highly of them again.

I like the symmetry.
USD won a regular season game vs NDSU in 2023, and then the next time they played NDSU, the Bison took a 35-3 lead into halftime.

That's fine, but that cycle can stop now!

Yep, you and KSBisonFan were right. It's hard for me to remember because it was in 1980 and 1981. Northern Michigan held NDSU scoreless in both games.

Re: USD Post Game Thoughts & Crow Dinner
I actually really like how the defense is playing. Flying to the ball tackling well. Now part of that impression is the USD QB wasn't very accurate yesterday.
-
Re: USD Post Game Thoughts & Crow Dinner
The one thing that stood out to me is the running backs werent running blind in to the offensive lines backside time after time. When they got the ball they looked to see what was open. If there was nothing they broke to the outside and did well in doing so.

This is a good observation and a big deal... coming into this game USD RB Phillips was averaging over 5 yards per carry after contact. I don’t know what is was in this game but I don’t recall much for missed tackles. Kudos to Coach Olson for appearing to get that tackling issues that have cropped up over the last couple seasons before this under control so far this season.

My opinion is our tackling issues were personnel related. We didn't have the speed at certain positions to get in good tackling position. I think our athleticism has improved over past years.

Didn't polasek (or maybe it was olson) address this a month ago or so in an interview? He said the fall camp was "physical" or something to that effect, insinuating that they shyed away from contact in camp in previous years and created the poor tackling issue.

I think tackling at the second and third levels looks better because the DT's are ruining the line of scrimmage. There was at least two plays were both DT's are winning and finishing the play at los. Really impressed with interior dl so far. Waiting on a bit more splash from the DE but they haven't had many opportunities yet either.

Re: USD Post Game Thoughts & Crow Dinner
We were very good on 3rd down yesterday. Man sucks this is the only year of starting for Payton, but Hayes next year will be great. Reis Kessel is really impressing me. Chris Harris will be healthy soon and Collins didn't have a catch. That's scary in a good way. DL is swarming and getting great pushback. OL shaping up nicely and October is only about to start. USD isnt the team we thought but we flat out dominated. No turnovers. Bickerton had a nice boot. Penalties need to be cleaned up a bit. We are head and shoulders above everyone including SDSU and Tartleton. We are the only team that will get in our way.

They said the same thing last year and tackling was still an issue (I seem to remember it being particularly bad against ETSU). This year the results are backing up the talk though.

Well you can't call for fans to wear green and then sell yellow homecoming t-shirts, lol.

I was not aware of that. Seems like a huge behind the scenes miscommunication. I was wrong to assume this was due to fan ignorance. Thanks for bring that up.

Re: USD Post Game Thoughts & Crow Dinner
As long as the home fans show up for these games I couldn't care less what color they wear. Anything is better than a blue seat.

Yeah just wear yellow or green or just something with a prominent NDSU logo. The only time this should matter is if we’re playing an opponent with a common primary color, then it might make sense to coordinate all Green or all Yellow. But even that is splitting hairs. Fans are there to be loud on D. That’s pretty much it.

Re: USD Post Game Thoughts & Crow Dinner
I was NOT wrong about Cole Payton.
Payton for Payton.
White is ok. Green is good. Yellow is better.
Illinois State will be a red blood bath.

Re: USD Post Game Thoughts & Crow Dinner
93 and 9 are both getting drafted. Both are amazing players.
Cant believe 93 could not see the field when Entz was here.
No crow for me to eat. I personally kept saying, maybe we have to see him play quarterback before we can judge him To the guys who said he was better than Cam Miller I think he’s going to prove those guys correct I wasn’t willing to go that far. But man he is dropping dimes all over the field

Re: USD Post Game Thoughts & Crow Dinner
Is 4 games a record for the start of a tenure without a "Fire <insert offensive coordinator name>" thread being started on Bisonville?
Dan Larson deserves a plaque or something???

The USD game was masterful.

Only one team in the 1980's won two games in a row against NDSU. Any guesses as to who it was?
Tony, love your trivia.

He’s been perfectly balanced and far from predictable.
