Re: Verbal Commitments
Isn't that three incoming quarterbacks (4 if you count Stauss)? That should provide some pretty stiff competition at that position for the next few years. I wonder if the same coach that recruits Milwaukee is hitting Chicago. Anybody know who that may be. Hopefully it isn't Rondeau.

Re: Verbal Commitments
Add another dandy to the commitment list:
GopherHole.com reports that Orono's OL/DL Jamie Bechdol (6' 5 - 270 lbs.) has ended his recruitment and chose North Dakota State over interest from San Jose State, Iowa State and Illinois. Bechdol was also a recruited walk-on candidate for Minnesota... (1/28/03)
Getting even better.... JD

Re: Verbal Commitments
It is quite apparent that the Sioux are taking on more ND high school athletes than the Bison are this year. Is this due to the DIAA move (inferring that ND football players are not DIAA players) or because NDSU can't get the good local talent due to the reputation of the program? I am guessing it has to do with talent level, but will this affect the amount of local interest and support that the Bison receive? I have noticed that SDSU has not made much noise with verbals from local SD kids, so they could be facing the same problems. I did hear that one SD kid will sign with NDSU, but haven't heard of any others.

Re: Verbal Commitments
Who is the kid from South Dakota going to NDSU? I live in SD and haven't heard anything.
I, for one, expected little NDSU recruiting activity in North Dakota. Only a couple kids come to mind when I think of possible D-IAA players this year. There just wasn't much for blue chip players in North Dakota. JD

Re: Verbal Commitments
I have heard little about SDSU commitments and have no idea where they have been out in terms of bush beating for recruits. I would hope Illinois, but we will probably find out next week.
There was a short blurp in the Argus Leader that a Wulf kid had committed to SDSU. I believe he had older brother who was good football player and a sister who played some basketball.
As far as SD player commiting to NDSU, that not a surprise. I have no details though.

Re: Verbal Commitments
NDSU is recruiting the talent that they need to position themselves to be successfull. The fact that ND players arent making that much noise at NDSU has already been addressed by Tony. NDSU will always get their share of the local players.
The programs are headed in different directions. Certainly there can be some expectation that in the begining the sorting out process is going to cause some confusion. NDSU is always going to get their share of the local talent, today, tommorrow and on into the future.
