Drift alert: The fact that Kilmer wasn’t even nominated for that performance—and the movie itself doesn’t even crack all time lists for best western of all time is a pox upon the western motif.

I'm your huckleberry.
You're no daisy! You're no daisy at all. Poor soul, you were just too high strung.

Whether it shows up on lists or not doesn't change the truth!

What is most amazing about the movie is how much of it is actually factual.

May have been factual Heff but the horse tack and overall horsemanship left much to desire.

C'mon, everyone in Hollywood knows six-shooters fire 14 rounds and horses can make the KC to Denver run without water or stopping.

I cannot comment intelligently on that particular topic so I’ll take your word for it. I would wager that it doesn’t bother your average moviegoer…

Touche Heffray. Point is that as far as top westerns go....correctness in gear, demeanor, day to day activity it does not match say "Comes A Horseman".

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Back on topic:
ASU just officially announced as joining the NCHC. Why's that matter?
ASU was just christened to the AAU; some were speculating ASU to the B1G.
That seems unlikely now; why would ASU join NCHC (pay entrance and exit) if they were going B1G (has hockey) soon.
ASU to BXII (PAC chaos scenario: 4 here, 4 there, 2 somewhere else) or "PAC survives" are the more likely outcomes based on this.

Not sure I've seen anything on ASU to B1G in football, hoops etc. Don't know if they ever fit into that "academic mold" everyone talks about. They can join the best conference for hockey and stay put in the Pac 12 for the time being.
SDSU/MWC is a mess at this point. Where's the path for NDSU to the MWC at the moment? Guess they better start looking south and east.

It was speculated in other forums based on ASU reaching AAU status. Plucking ASU would all but dagger the PAC.

Isn't the B1G the best hockey conference?

Why yes, in my opinion as a Gopher hockey fan, it certainly is. :)

No B1G titles. So close, yet so far. At least my guys beat The Q in the game that matters (2016).

I have a hard time taking any sport seriously whose team to beat is Quinnapiac.

or non scholly D3 Union... oh wait they won a title too! haha idiot sport.
NDSU could still partner with UTEP and slip into the MWC.
But if SDSU stays and the MWC needs a breather, that puts the AAC right back in our sights. They could even do a Football Only invite as well. But I still say MOVE ALL SPORTS.
when does the $5000 to $5 million FBS franchise fee start?? we should probably get in NOW b4 that hits somehow someway.

Nothing says " conference partner" like a team a couple hours from the Canadian border partnering with a team on the Mexican border

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Perhaps CUSA is the only viable option for the time being, which won't solve Bison fatigue, but will check a box.

Park the P12 on Netflix and charge even as little as $0.99 for a season subscription and they’ll get one tenth the eyeballs that the B12 is getting.
The Premier league and NBC learned this lesson with their Peacock app. Fans don’t go running to buy a subscription to a streaming service just to watch a single sports league.
As for why more people own a subscription to Netflix than cable, one costs $10 the other $50. Not exactly apples to apples
With the streaming model, Netflix isn't enough. You also need Apple TV, Paramount, MAX, Hulu, Disney, ESPN, and probably others I can't think of right now.

Most pundits say you still need a linear partner (ESPN, Fox, CBSSN, The CW!, something)

Re: A new and better FBS thread
When did people start saying "linear" TV? And does linear include cable as well as over the air or just over the air?

Ya got me on "linear" but it's the term used on a different forum that I haunt. It's both cable and OTA (see: Fox, CBS, et al).

Netflix has more subscribers than all the cable companied have cable subscribers... combined.

Right, again, because it costs $10/month. They are not apples to apples.
Streaming services may be the way of the future, but if the P12 goes to Netflix in 2024, the conference itself will instead be history.
If it was the B10 or SEC, sure. They could make it work and hell they may earn even more money doing so. The eyeballs will follow them because they have to due to their relevancy. The P12 is dead in the water floating towards irrelevancy, being the first conference to jump to streaming isn’t going to help them.

I agree. And when somebody says that WYATT EARP is a better movie, a fun thing to do is ask them for a quote from it.

A quote? I couldn't remember the cast without Googling.

Dennis Quade's portrayal of Doc is also very good. Different kind of movie and a different kind of character. For what it is, it's a good movie. Problem is, it's like a lot of other movies that are similar in tone and characters. Tombstone is just too fucking awesome for what it is and Kilmer's Holiday is the most quotable, badass western antihero ever to grace the silver screen. It's just not a fair fight to even attempt to compare the two directly.... Just my $0.02.

I’ve tried watching it a number of times and just couldn’t finish. And who is saying it’s a better movie? I’ve never heard this once?
