I get it exposure and all that. But do you want the exposure of being the fool who hired him when your team goes 3-8 for 3 years in a row?

You're not the only one.

The hot takes I've read on it are that people assume the publicity and recruits he can pull in will be worth it, even if they have to replace him later. Also an extra 5 million a year can buy a lot of top notch assistants to do the actual coaching. He just has to sell recruits and coaches on joining him.
At a place like USF, he can probably out recruit the entire conference, just like he did in the SWAC.
So, in a way I don't think he's a great coaching mind, but I do think he has a brand that sells, and that can also produce success.

If he leaves after all the bullshit hes spouted about the HBCUs and building that legacy back then the proofs in the pudding.

So true. But of course it was all bullshit. If he was rich he’d be a used car salesman.

Deon has always been about Deon. This is going to be a tricky one for him.

Curious on the TE argument.

SDSU has had 2 generational guys in Goedart and Kraft, but unless I’m missing something, I think the Bison have consistently fielded better talent and depth at that position. I feel like I could name more than 2 guys who were pretty great and got/will get NFL looks…
All that said, I could be convinced otherwise. Goedart is probably one of the better TEs ever in FCS…

Thats a perfectly reasonable argument I think.
Kraft would have been a starter at all but 2-3 P5 schools this year (ND and Georgia and ???). Goedert was a beast.
NDSU consistently has good tight ends though. Fortunately for schools up here, tall white fellas grow on our (very few) trees.

True on Kraft, he is a beast… as of yet unknown at the pro level… I see more versatility out of Goedart, better pass-catcher and play-maker, IMO.
I will also say that I am a bit surprised Ellefson hasn’t caught fire… he was the best TE we’ve ever had I think, which says something…

Bohl still bringing his NDSU-level game management skills.

After beating Nevada 33-6, No. 5 Idaho now heads to Cal (4-8 last yr)
2 FBS wins in 1 yr has occurred only twice in the 2000s
2015: Portland State beat Washington State & North Texas
2007: NDSU beat Central Michigan & Minnesota
FAU had 3 in 2004 but was mid-transition to DI-A

Re: College Football FBS/FCS discussion thread
Idaho leading Cal 17-14 at halftime
Hmmm……would Idaho jump to #2 or #1
with a second FBS victory?

They won’t but maybe they should? Impressive.

Idaho loses to Cal, 31 unanswered points. Should cool off that bandwagon for a little bit

Re: College Football FBS/FCS discussion thread
How ‘bout a bandwagon for Sac State?
But…first they have to hold on and beat Stanford.
17-14 Sacramento in the 3rd quarter

Re: College Football FBS/FCS discussion thread
Montana barely beats Ferris State
SIU scores late to beat SEMO by one point. Not sure if SIU played bad or if SEMO is that good

Re: College Football FBS/FCS discussion thread
Never mind Montana has a quarter left to let Ferris State beat them

Re: College Football FBS/FCS discussion thread
Sac St defeats Stanford 30-23, they make a statement after being ranked lower than Idaho and MSU to start the season

The FedEx Ground FCS Game of the Week is in the Big Sky Conference and involves two teams that defeated FBS opponents this season.
No. 4 Sacramento State (3-0) at No. 7 Idaho (2-1)
Here is a chance for someone to look like a serious Final 8 playoff team

Prime getting his ass kicked as expected.
Was fun to hear Culhane's call on the FSU's OT win today during every highlight montage on sports radio.

So happy to see prime and his team getting blown out. Maybe the media will shut up for a while. The media, NIL and transfer portal is everything wrong about college football.

Re: College Football FBS/FCS discussion thread
Half time and Prime Time's team has 23 yards of offense. That's UN_ level bad.
Oregon has 378 yards, QB is 22-24.
Just like his Jackson St teams, high level talent at skill positions will wind you games against lower level teams but as soon as you play a real program they will eat you up at the meat and potatoes positions.
Thought it was a joke they were ranked at all let alone 19th. What a joke.
Favorite quote so far today. Oregon's coach: "They play for clicks we play for wins."
Then at half time he said: "We're not done yet. We're not satisfied. I hope all those people that have been watching the last couple weeks are watching today."
This is going to get ugly for Prime and his boys and I couldn't be happier.

But the announcer said something Colorado was on the right track and the mastermind coach will do better next year.

Well I would guess he will but the Cinderella story is over and it’s only getting uglier.
His lines are so overmatched if this was a heavyweight fight they would throw in the towel.

I mean, they almost lost to Colorado St. the hype train was way too big too fast.
I’m hoping for at least 70
Oregon coach can hardly contain the shit eating grin he has from the ass kicking his team is putting in then.

Call me crazy but those first 2 wins were impressive. The Colorado St game was a headscratcher, but weird shit happens in rivalry games… The T25 votes don’t bother me…

481 to 34 total yards so far and it's in the 3rd qtr. Opposing teams are going to want to make an example of the Buffs all year. I hope they succeed.

They are getting embarrassed. Actually whatever word is worse than embarrassed.
Literally looking like boys against men out there.
I wonder if all the celebs will be on the tik tak yapping about Prime this week
The only “success” they have had all day has been on plays where holding was called.
