Re: The Green and the Gold Collective Sunday Night Event
We have a local 'Snolf' tournament here out on the ice on one of the lakes.

Just so one does not fall through on the ice (not laughing in light of recent ice events). I think golf would be an excellent fundraiser for many and should definitely be entertained as a primary fundraiser but perhaps something a little different to mix it up and have a few fundraisers plus to publicize it. I really appreciate the Green and Gold organizers for everything they are doing.

What about covering the cost of a scholarship every year to a walk on? Let the players vote on who gets it.
The scholarship could be sponsored or named after a business. Like the Bell Bank or Gate City scholarship, awarded by the collective. This also allows it to be awarded after the season.
Who knows, what if 20 businesses decide to do it?

If I understand correctly, I think that a significant donor has such flexibility?
I like the fact that even the small donor has the option to direct to a specific sport if they desire.

For ND/MN students, tuition is roughly 10-15 grand a year. It's good advertising and press. In some cases it can be free with families who make less than 80k

Are the payments from the collective to certain players listed some where? Just curious as I'm sure these are going to get out at some point.

I doubt it. Jay said it's an LLC so it's private, not public. Not saying things couldnt get leaked or rumors started

Highly doubt it. State secret for a lot of reasons.
Becomes a bidding list for other teams to grab our current players
Teams would use it to recruit against us
Other players on the team see how much every else gets
Certain people in the ND legislature would convulse

All great reason why we don't need to know what we don't need to know!

Yep. I’m 100% curious too and maybe I’ll go to an event someday and someone in the know will say something off the record or something.
I don’t mean to speak for Burgundy, I’m just pretty sure there won’t ever be a press release or a solid number given. I would guess that’s why the focus is more on # of donors and not total amount. Can still convey scale while encouraging others to contribute that way.
