That’s the sport where administrators love to talk about things like “student-athlete welfare” and building character and teaching life lessons. Well, here is the current life lesson in college football: everyone and everything is expendable, at any time. We will ditch a conference via covert operations for more money, and we will fire a coach who starts to slip in a heartbeat. Watch your back.

So what's the list so far this season: those two, Nebraska, Arizona State, Georgia Tech ....
And their buyout dollars: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FeLIlMxU...jpg&name=large

Re: College Football FBS/FCS discussion thread
It will be interesting to watch the dominoes fall. Indirectly, I could see this impacting our conference and FCS. Once the P5 jobs get filled, it will create some opportunities for familiar names.
Petrino was on a path to get another shot at FBS. Maybe if they finish strong he'll get some looks.
If JMU stays hot, Cignetti will be a a candidate for a big payday.

Re: College Football FBS/FCS discussion thread
This is why I'm torn about the NIL stuff and the status of amateur athletics. Seems to me that if a coach can get paid $10M or more to go away (or millions to actually coach), why not let the players in on some of that action?

Good for them, honestly do they get the viewership they used to? I haven't watched in a couple years, and seems with all the obscure schools (non SEC, B10) they are trying to boost ratings?
Good they are still showcasing different schools though. Its not as Elite to host as it once was though thats for sure.

Will be an interesting atmosphere. Nice to see another FCS rivalry game get some spotlight.

Beginning with the program's first year of competition, UTRGV will be recognized as a full member of Division I FCS, eligible for NCAA postseason, and play a full Western Athletic Conference schedule.

One is an entry point, and one is a transfer. A new program has to start somewhere, and I assume this school was already D1.

I think they are D1. FCS is the lowest level a D1 school can sponsor a team at, correct?

Correct. But if a major D1 school decides to add football as a sport (i.e. Xavier, Seton Hall), I don't know if they are required to start in FCS or if they could go directly to FBS if they get an invite.

Getting the old Big East together for football would be awesome. Their basketball tourney was more fun than the Big Dance. Prison ball.

In today’s ESPN update on the coaching search for Colorado, some familiar names made the list of who to watch……as they are said to be looking for someone with Head Coach experience……including:
Texas co-defensive coordinator Jeff Choate, the former Montana State coach.
North Dakota State's Matt Entz
Sacramento State's Troy Taylor
Jackson State coach Deion Sanders

Re: College Football FBS/FCS discussion thread
Another name out there for the Colorado job is Illinois defensive coordinator Ryan Walters, who played at the University of Colorado.

Interesting, I know which of those names would get the CU fan base most fired up....
NDSU might not have to schedule Jackson St to see Coach Prime in a couple years. :)

Iowa loses to Nebraska in a game that wasn't even close until the end. Big Red goes up 24-0 before hanging on 24-17. Iowa didn't deserve to win the west anyway, but this opens it up for Minnesota maybe??

Not sure of their path, but if Purdue wins, they are in. Doesn't really matter though. Ohio State or Michigan will destroy whoever is in the championship game.

With a win today over Bucky at Camp Randall, and a Purdue loss today Goldy would end up at 5-4 and tied with both Boilermakers and Hawkeyes. Goldy lost the head to head to both of those teams. They're out.

Thee Ohio State University stacked the box and then failed to play gap sound.
But that 19 year old 5 star QB for Michigan looked pretty damn 5 starry.

Colorado has offered Deion Sanders its head coaching job, sources tell The Athletic’s @BruceFeldmanCFB. Through three seasons at Jackson State, Sanders has compiled a 26-5 record.
Is this the FBS job that Deion Sanders wants?

To me the real question is if any other FBS thinks Deion's record is legit. Is anyone bigger/better than crappy Colorado wowed by his inflated W/Ls in a shitty league?

If Sanders takes the Colorado job, how many Jackson State players will transfer?

They could very well be top 10 this week and capable of upsetting the CFP with a win over TCU. Decent shot at a NY6 bowl.
