What about Coastal Carolinas QB? Where's he gonna end up. G5 is another minor league system don't kid yourself.

Although when we played Arizona, Minnesota, etc, we totally outdraw them. It's all about competition.
Here's the future of FCS. The top teams in the CAA move up. Teams like Youngstown move to a different conference, like has already been discussed. Mankato, Augustana and Duluth move up. We accept St Thomas. The FCS decides to cut scholarships, in the name of parity. That's what happened in D2. History could repeat itself. Maybe they combine FCS and G5? Heck maybe they combine D2 and FCS.
We can't go any higher. Reality is when we are fully funded (whether it's at the D2 level or FCS) we are dominant. There is a reason we were competitive from day 1 moving up.
If we ten peat. Fans will get bored. If we drop down to earth, fans will get bored because we're still going to dominate the same mediocre teams like Indiana State and Western Illinois and in the regular season and play cup cakes like Drake or Butler in the non conference. We're still going to play teams like San Diego in the 1st or 2nd round. Worst case scenario, a team who cares about football like Montana, Montana State or SDSU overtake us but we are still considered a powerhouse (kind of like they call SDSU a powerhouse, even though they haven't won shit) and make the playoffs every year.
At this point, all we can do is try to get better, which will widen the gap even more or keep it the same. Maybe we can figure out a way to pay our head coach a million bucks and quadruple the assistant coaches salaries. We can do some sort of NIL deal, that only a handful of FCS schools will match. Maybe one of the Montana schools or SDSU have the will or resources to do that.
We can improve the Fargodome so it's a better overall fan experience and a more impressive recruiting tool. That might help a little. We can do something huge like build an athletics village for fans, that might help. Expand tailgating to all day? Build permanent tailgating facilities. Maybe build some space age looking locker room to wow recruits. Maybe we can figure out a way to build a 600 million dollar indoor stadium, paid for by the city and NDSU. But let's say that happens... are we going to be an FCS program with a 30K seat world class indoor stadium competing against Mankato State?
I enjoy the playoffs, but it's obvious I'm not the majority of people. The playoff attendance numbers don't lie.
That ain't a cheap jab, that's a fact. Most bowl games are trash including that one. But that's our goal.

Damn...Did G5 steal your girlfriend? All you ever do is run down G5 schools, bowl games and their fans. It is a reasonable goal for NDSU to want to move up from FCS and I do believe it is a step up in competition. It is certainly not easy, no matter what Chapo says, but G5 schools are meaningful to millions of people. I, personally never watch the CFP but I do watch Nevada and MW teams all the time. It really isn't the horror show you believe it to be. If you get there it won't wreck NDSU. I assume they will still be your favorite school no matter the level.

Most FCS National Championships are trash
Towson, Montana State, Jacksonville State, and Sam Houston #2 were blowouts
Eastern Wash was 31-17 heading into the 4th
The only good games were Illinois State and JMU
We will never play JMU again. Or JSU or Sam Houston
Most Championship games are played in the semis

Agreed. daddy daycare has been a decent poster in the past but he seems to have come unhinged on this topic recently for some reason. I think sometimes people get to wedded to winning an argument (and not just him, BTW, there are some on the other side just as bad).
Going to G5 wouldn't be a silver bullet and NDSU is not going to win championships, but G5 football is hardly a disaster either, as you point out.

What daddy is experiencing is what happens if you respond to Chapo too many times. I tried to warn him. Now he sounds just as crazy

You hit the nail on the head when you said you follow your team and conference. And that's how most sports fans are, basically making my point.

Lol...some people don't like opinions of other sports fans and just want to hear everyone sing kumbaya in agreement together.

It just doesn't occur to me to rip on other schools, FCS, their playoffs, their fans etc..
But it does occur to you to rip away..I just don't understand your mindset on this..Why so negative about everything..

Re: A new and better FBS thread
At this point, the FCS Title Game is basically a bowl game with attendance at roughly 20k thanks to NDSU. Some will say “but we are national champions!” National Champions of who? Mercer, Western Illinois, San Diego, Stony Brook? Sure there are some different good teams this year in SDSU, MSU, and Incarnate Word I guess but who was good this year will fall off the face of the earth next season?
G5 is a step up in competition in every conference other than maybe CUSA. National Title in FCS is losing its luster to folks and it’s happening quickly. Bowl games aren’t a terrible deal and still have yet to find any evidence of a school that was once FCS complain/regret being in the FBS playing a “meaningless bowl game”. There is good football to be had in FBS.

Nobody is arguing that it's a step "up" or not with competition even though NDSU has been playing G5 level of football for over a decade now. And people have been ripping the bowl games for years, this isn't a new phenomenon.
Now ask yourself with logic...who's going to take NDSU right now besides CUSA? What conference does it actual makes logical sense to add NDSU besides CUSA? Put yourself in tho shoes of the conferences and ask why? Everyone can throw out MWC left and right on here until they're blue in the face, as of right now or in the past 8 years it doesn't make common sense.
Will that change? Probably when 1-2 schools leave the MWC and weaken the conference.

This may happen sooner than most here seem to think.
PAC is rumored to be working with ESPN on a media deal that would allow them to take one or two MWC schools. Adding 1/2 MWC schools is said to be a serious discussion among PAC presidents now. My guess is this could be announced before next season starts, maybe over the summer or before.
Sure, that would leave the MWC a little weaker. But it would still easily be the 2nd or 3rd best conference in the G5, and the footprint and schools make a lot of sense for us.

Losing the top of the MWC would make it just a half step above CUSA. Don't kid yourselves.

It comes down to whether you want an opportunity or not. Nevada joined a conference 30 years ago that had schools dropping football right and left. Boise joined that same conference a few years later. We were playing, Arkansas State, La Tech, North Texas, Northern Illinois along with schools like Pacific, Fullerton, Long Beach State. It wasn't easy but both schools kept progressing.
I would never tell anybody they should move up, move down or which invitation to accept. That is up to you.
However, your predicament is your predicament. You have to figure out what you want as a school.
That is why I don't understand you continually running down G5 and bowls like your predicament is somehow their fault. It is hard for everybody..No conference is in the charity business. You certainly don't have to respect any schools out of the P5 and it appears that you don't. But constantly expressing disrespect doesn't change anything as far as NDSU is concerned.

Any school that has a good season that's not in the SEC or B1G will get their five (not even fifteen) minutes of feel-good "little engine that could" gap filler between the analysis of the key B1G match-up and the key SEC match-up this weekend.

Replace negativity with reality.
As I’ve stated over and over again. NDSU should and will go FBS. using bowl games as a selling point or the 12th team in the playoffs is ridiculous. All of the exaggeration over how NDSU will succeed and 200k metro fargo fans heading to bowl games and snatching everything up and it curing all that ails whiny spoiled fan base…also ridiculous.
If new blood and increased competition is the selling point. Sure. Go for it. Then that’s all it should be and the rest shouldn’t be “the plan” but icing on the cake. There’s a reason NDSU hasn’t gone yet, because due to one thing and one thing only it ain’t as easy as people here believe it to be.
Reality ain’t negativity.

Are you talking about when Boise beat Oklahoma? Surely you're not going to downplay that. That team was actually a top 12 G5 team.#6 in fact in computers and coaches/media ratings.
And they weren't in the Mountain West either
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
My bad. The greatest 2 moments in Boise State weren’t in the MWC after all.

Bull! if we had an AD with vision and seeing what was coming for him (WE HAVE BEEN WARNING HIM HERE FOR 5+ YEARS)
then we'd have a deal done by now with a FBS conference....
he's east coast and just happy that gene taylor left him a ferrari to drive. period.

That is ok, as he calls people from the Twin Cities "Citdiots". Apparently true wisdom is only granted in cities between 50,000 and 150,000 residents.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Ultimately an offer to join a conference has to come. Everyone knows that. DADDY DAYCARE do you believe NDSU could make it to the CFP with a 12 team tournament? I and many others do believe that is more than possible. What’s say you?

I mean Billy Madison hooked up with Veronica Vaughan so technically I suppose. "We" can believe all you want. There's a million things that need to work to perfection for that to happen and that starts with the right conference (and conferences aren't even done shifting yet), the right OOC schedule, the right recruiting (which is gonna be harder than everyone thinks) an a shitload of other events. Status quo ain't getting that done.
