As a fan, we don't have much, if any, influence on what happens in those aspects. In the meantime, fans can control their decisions about how much they are willing to invest in NDSU Athletics. The Athletic Department leadership will need to be very aggressive in finding ways to keep as many fans engaged and investing as possible. The trends of that engagement and investment over the past 5 or so years seem to be a bit of a mixed bag. Attendance is certainly down, however, it seems like Teammakers and fundraising for IPF/facilities haven't seemed to have been affected so far. Just like everyone here, I truly just want to see the University and the Athletic Department build on the momentum that was gained from the move to D1 and not take a step backwards. Patience in conference affiliation may be a virtue. Patience in terms of finding ways to combat the trend in attendance and enthusiasm seems less beneficial because I believe if it continues it is only a matter of time before it does affect Teammakers and fundraising.
Does an FBS move fix the attendance issues? While I agree there would be a boost in interest, is it sustainable? Nationally FBS attendance has been dropping for years (https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/college-football-attendance-declines-for-seventh-straight-season-to-lowest-average-since-1981/. Is the decreased interest in NDSU football just part of a larger trend?

In addition, as I've stated before in this thread, you get 3-4 losses on the season going into late October and November when there's plenty of other shit to do in ND (farm, hunt, Thanksgiving, etc etc), the interest will be limited, no question.
Funny thing to me is half the crying for FBS is due to "look at me"...yet the goal is the MWC? MWC is what people in the east and midwest have on the TV in the background while they're going other shit. Nobody cares, outside die hard gamblers and MWC fans. Doesn't make it a bad, just the fact. Want attention? Cry for something better then (not you JMB just in general).

they were robbed bro they had to go play in the State of Weber instead of their tin shed. I don't even know where Weber is bro.
Apparently UND didn't either because their defense never made it to the game bro.
This is all because of Matty L.

Doing awesome, thanks.
MWC a better fit than what exactly? we literally have nothing in common with those schools do we?
“40k stadium, 200k fargo people, 15-20k at bowl game.” All I’m saying is MWC ain’t getting that done as being claimed. Living in the real world is much better than fantasy land.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
the fans have spoken
8000-10,000 tickets available this morning for a playoff game vs Montana.

Than FCS. It was like a week ago lol
We have a heck of a lot more in common with western research-based flagship land-grant institutions than midwestern and ohio valley former normal schools.
It's up to you if you want to continue refuting the Lakes-math. I just put him on ignore. You'll probably be a happier person when you decide to do the same.

We're HS and Winter Sports Activities not around in 2015 when Montana came to town in the 2nd round and there were 18K plus in attendance?

Maybe splitting hairs here but, considering the opening loss there was a revenge factor that could have boosted attendance as well. Just my opinion.

Maybe, but my larger point is that other activities/commitments/options existed in 2015, the NDSU football games were just given higher priority by a larger number of fans. I don't think the number of fans has shrunk, they are just investing less time, money and energy into attending games.
2011 2nd Round: 17,432
2012 2nd Round: 18,482
2013 2nd Round: 18,455
2014 2nd Round: 18,113
2015 2nd Round: 18,232
2016 2nd Round: 18,305
2017 2nd Round: 18,067
2018 2nd Round: 17,007
2019 2nd Round: 15,690
2021 2nd Round: 12,557
2022 2nd Round: ?
Maybe fan attendance and engagement isn't something that is critical to their individual happiness or passion for the team/program as some have suggested here. That may be true, individually. I know most of us on this forum are still going to games and supporting the programs in various ways and likely will into the future. However, from a larger program/athletic dept. standpoint I don't see how that can be true when the absolute lifeblood of those entities are almost entirely built off of fan engagement, attendance and donors (especially in the state of ND). If the trend continues, the program will definitely look different in 10, 15, 20 years. Not the end of the world in the grand scheme of life but as a Bison fan I definitely believe it is something that should be concerning.

we've been saying this since 2015 or so. NDSU Admin wasn't smart enough to see it. NDSU should've jumped FBS at all costs then, call the MWC and make a fucking deal and they still can do it. shit or get off the pot.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
To add on here, whatever upgrades and changes that were made to the gameday experience were minimal imo. Even the 50 shot t-shirt cannon only lasted two weeks before it was retired. LOL

Re: A new and better FBS thread
One thing I remember reading is a lot of season ticket holders were companies that bought 20-30 tickets. I heard several of them stopped buying that many or at all. Is it possible a lot of those 18k were people attending with free tickets. Now that those aren't available, those fans are no longer attending. I have no idea how much this is impacting attendance. I also wonder if they've priced themselves a little high. Supply and demand drove the price up, it may have gone beyond the optimal price. The supply didn't change, but it may have driven down demand. Any econ majors out there?

Depends on the ticket base I suppose. A large majority are the same season ticket holders who perhaps have shit going on ….and those who don’t go are content watching on the big screen sippin beers.
Once again just because my ass isn’t in the seat doesn’t mean I don’t care or won’t be tuned in much like a shitload of fans.

Problem being - once again - geography.
I’ve stated I’m fine when they do go. Just don’t expect everyone to blow wads all over the place. It’s G5 football FFS.

At least those that will be there want to be there.
Indy’s point on ticket price has wheels, especially with how well our economy is doing with inflation at an all time low and home goods almost being given away.

Interesting point.
It's cheap for students, but it's roughly $200 for a family of 4 to attend this game.
And it's just one game. Maybe some folks are saving up for Frisco. That's expensive too.

IMO, there’s a fine line here. I know many people who, rather than go to game, have “watch parties” at their homes with 10-20 people who would otherwise/more than likely go to the game but for TV availability. We don’t have a big enough fan base to sustain both easy-access tv coverage and fill the Dome. Just not there.

This has some truth. We still have 16 great seats that are hard to give away some weeks. I do believe the average family has been priced out of season tickets and it's an expensive day just to go to one game.
I also know people who cancelled their season tickets and have not returned to the Dome after Trey et al took a knee during the anthem and received support from the coaches in doing so. Some of you will say that wasn't that big of deal, but I can assure you that it still is.
