Dude read the post ""I know talking to the guys at North Dakota State, they're trying to get in" the Mountain West." None of your examples move that needle.
The post says "Trying to get in" Not wishing or wanting to get in which would entail your examples.
And you say its happening. But then you say it isnt. Make up your mind.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
you asked me who is talking about it. I.E. who would Sam Keeler see/Hear "TALKING" about NDSU going to MWC.
and I told you.
listen bottom line is NDSU needs be to FBS by 2024 and the Playoff Expansion with the 1 GUARANTEED G5 SPOT"
Period. End of Story

Oh man. I would be so excited for this (from a fan standpoint), especially is SDSU came with and it opened a door to turn CUSA into a Northern-focused league that could add UND, USD, UM and MSU down the road.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Listened to the Keeler interview directly to get context.
He was clearly speculating and all over the map with his statements.
Couldn't even spit out MWC at first, was talking about "that conference near them"
It was like he was reading message board rumors.
He's basically theorizing that the G5 will be split from the P5 and will have it's own playoff that replaces FCS.
Can't see that happening now. It's like he is still operating off last year's rumors. That whole bit was a bunch of nothing.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
I interpret McFeeley's story as a flat out denial by Matt Larsen that he's even making an effort to get us into the MW. I guess that requires effort, and Larsen sure as hell has none. Specifically said NDSU isn't even lobbying to get in.

If Matt L. and NDSU leadership is in fact not lobbying for an FBS conference invite, then very little about our athletic department structure and budget makes sense. I really hope that this is just not wanting to share details publicly.

Not CUSA but possibly AAC..
I think there are ongoing talks between the MW and the AAC on scheduling agreements etc.. already. A full merger would create a very large, nationwide conference which would be cool..

Work on your reading comprehension. No where did I mention solicitation. Most conferences who are open for expansion already know who they want and have done
their DD on those schools.
Again I will ask---why do you think we will be invited when we havent been invited in the past. Again this has nothing to do with solicitation.
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
Isn't solicitation normally a crime? Asking for a friend.

So is the logic that because we haven’t been invited in the past, we won’t be invited in the present or the future?
I’ve been told that the facility upgrades are us trying to improve our chances to be invited. That coupled with realignment in college football would possibly change the criteria and make previous due diligence somewhat obsolete?
It would seem to me that NDSU would be very aggressive in sharing those improvements in order to maximize the return on the investments. No?

We are. Positioning is happening. False leads/narratives are a negative to that effort.

Great! It would seem to me that “false narratives” would be less frequent if the NDSU leadership shared their vision for the future.

And outright spilled the beans? That could result in there primarily goal being undermined, with nothing left at the end, including possible outs if main focus doesn’t pan out.

Nope it would juat add to more speculation and false narratives. You see it here all the time when on rare occasion someone will actually post something factual. The post is scrutinized, questioned, scoffed at and before its all said and done you have more false narratives than you had before.
Just like your reply to cas, He posted some well meaning inside information but it just wasnt good enough for you. I understand though, its a disease and you just cant help yourself.

The fact you don't realize the president, AD, and conference commissioner group is a small group that knows each other well and see each other at meetings and events on a regular basis shows how much you really don't understand how this all works. I can guarantee Dean and Matt have had several conversations over the years. They may not have had serious conversations yet because the opportunity hasn't been there, but they've at least talked in hypotheticals. I've been a part of enough of these conversations while volunteering at NCAA events. The Final Four is a huge hangout of these people.

Bingo. Everyone knows who everyone else is. Hell even Bohl and GT talked about all the conversations and a lot of business got done at those get togethers.

One of the conferences I work in has Franklin College as a member. 3 years ago, they hired a new head coach. He had previously been at Buffalo. When I met him on the field before the game, I told him I went to high school and college with Scott Fuchs. He loved Fuchsy! The head coach told me the OL coach he hired worked for Scott at Wyoming and was hired per introduction/recommendation from Scott. Then I found out the opposing head coach used to coach at Mayville.
On a D3 field in Indiana, a 5 minute conversation connected Mayville State, NDSU, Wyoming, Buffalo, and Franklin. That's not unusual. It's not a big stretch from there to realize the ADs and presidents at the Dakota and Montana schools know the commissioners of the MAC, MWC, AAC, and CUSA very well. They've talked.

As I’ve said before, specific details of negotiations are not required. Outright denial seems a bit extreme.

I guess I just don’t see how a general vision of the athletic department puts a potential conference invite at risk.
I would also add that I don’t share rumors on here or elsewhere and I don’t make wild proclamations or demands. My message has been consistent. If leadership wants more buy in from the fanbase they have to share more of their plan. I’ve said it before, a $50 million practice facility shows a desire for more and I do assume that they are exploring more. But there’s just as much risk in them not sharing their vision at all as there is saying too much.
You and I don’t have to agree on everything, that’s fine. My biggest issue is that you’re so dismissive of any perspective that isn’t your own. You’re fandom doesn’t trump anyone else’s.

The reality is that a conference invite is outside of NDSU control. Fans aren’t at the NCAA events. They’re not part of that small, exclusive group. Leadership needs the fans to stay engaged while we wait for that invite to come. I believe they can and should do better at keeping the fans engaged by sharing big picture vision (not details). The apathy that I see in my circles is continuing to grow. That poses a risk to derailing a conference invite as well.
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
Did GSU, JMU, SHSU, Kennesaw, etc announce a vision 3-6-12 months beforehand?

This has been my concern as well and I’ve voiced it here enough times that the horse has been beaten into dust. I don’t agree with how it’s been handled from the PR side but it is what it is. If we were staying FCS we wouldn’t have built the IPF the way we did. My understanding is in that fact.
My way of combatting the apathy with my different friend groups or tailgating groups is just to go ahead and tell people we’re working on going FBS. At this point I’ve heard enough rumblings from people that know and I’ve seen enough to be pretty confident that we’re working on it. I usually say it in response to a “I just can’t keep going to games like this” “I don’t see the point in donating anymore” “why renew my season tickets” comment. 10 times out of 10 it gets other people excited to hear it. If our admin won’t seize the narrative we as fans can continue to do so.

I think it was around the time we beat them in 2011 or 2012 that JMU was having rumblings around the fan base about making jump. The admin said at the time that they weren’t ready facility-wise but that they were going to start making improvements to do so. Not going to try to find an archived article on it, but it was also explained in the JMU/NDSU feature that ESPN did about 6 months ago.
I have no idea nor do I care about the CUSA schools and their “FBS” transition lol
Not sure about Appy and Georgia Southern. I do remember not being surprised at all when either left. It appears that Delaware’s fan base and local media know that they’re working on it too.
There are certainly some differences between NDSU and the schools you mentioned though right? Namely a 10-year long dynasty with such domination that fans are starting to lose interest? Talking to college football fans the question I’m always asked is “why haven’t they made the jump already?” - implying that we should’ve jumped years ago. It may help everyone to at least hint that you’re working at it.
Or don’t. Just make it happen.

That is a very logical and valid opinion. I don't agree that we are owed an explanation or plan, but I understand those that do. For Chapo to say no conversations have been had is absurd. They've talked, but with very little movement in the conferences that interest NDSU, there hasn't been a reason to get serious. Matt has mentioned in several interviews they continue to look at the situation and will do something when it makes sense. There probably isn't more to share beyond that.
