Back to topic: The DI Board of Directors meets on Oct 26 to review what the Transformation Committee is working and may put forth as new DI requirements.
Are we expecting anything significant yet? I sure wish DB would be leaking more on what is coming.

Seems like a pretty common sense conclusion that NDSU would fare well in FBS. Just need an invite.

Or have sex with everyone, depending on which show you watch.

Why not do both?*
*Just make sure you do them in the right order.

It's interesting that Mike considers North Dakota State and Marshall as peers. I get the others listed, but not a school NDSU has never faced or even shared a football division with since the late 1930's.

He's referring to schools that used to be peers to Delaware

Ah, yes. That is a good point. When he says "like NDSU" it seemed to me that he was referring to all of those schools as peers to both, but I can see where it might be differently. But then, if those are Delaware's peers, then which of North Dakota State's peers have moved up? Seems like it would be pretty much the same teams.

Yeah I was confused too. I just always brush off McFeely though, he openly states that the best in his profession are those that rile people up to get them clicking on their article or listening to their radio program (before he was booted from radio for being junk). Facts, context, common sense; all be damned.
He usually takes a nothing story, tries to blow it up into something, attempts to get people riled up with a “hot take”, and then slap a semi-misleading or skewed headline on top for good measure. He whines about the downfall of newspapers into click-bait websites, and then proceeds to spew a bunch of click-bait.
But after all that he’s the only person in the FM press who even mentions FBS in front of our president or athletic director. So we roll with what we got lol.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Wikipedia lists all of the teams that were in the university and college divisions before the split into three divisions in 1973. What I found interesting was that the MVFC was in the university division and none of those teams are still in the conference.

NDSU needs to run the table here with some amazingly convincing wins to keep our FBS dreams alive.

Because if we don't win the championship this year 9 out of 12 years isn't good enough but 9 out of 11 is?

The rest of the season literally has ZERO influence in whether we get a FBS invite! I think we have already proven we are worthy competitively, no question. You need to quit bringing down this fan base with your doomsday talk!

I really don’t think there is a question whether we will dominate G5 FBS ………. Just a matter of if/when we get that invite!

Correct. On field success is not a critical factor in advancing. Many teams below us have made the move with various levels of success. Ability to compete is not a concern by any conference considering the Bison.

Actually with the NEW G5 Playoff spot upcoming a CONFERENCE will want to have the BEST football teams in order to QUALIFY for said elusive spot!

I'll break it down for u bro.
Run the table is a euphemism for not losing any games in any fashion but especially in embarrassing fashion or else the fbs conferences won't swipe right on us. Additionally Lakes seems to believe that beating ISU's or WIU's or Oldstown's in an "exciting" manner will somehow make us appear younger and less fat than we are.
Lastly Lakes refers to it as a dream because you'd have to be asleep to believe it's going to happen at this point.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
I thought that if the Bison completely dominate the competition, that the fans would be bored and leave. Which is it?

If I was an FBS conference I would be asking "Sure these guys have a great following when the win the conference, what happens if they 6-5? It's easy to be a fan if your team is a championship team every year."

NDSU would be absolutely Bigger & Better going FBS.
some of you don't understand, NDSU would explode.
hmmmm wouldn't that be something we could use right about now?

Even in 2009, our worst season in D-1 and one of the worst seasons in decades the home attendance ranged from from 14K to a virtual sellout for homecoming.

It's gotta go down before 1000 pages. But NDSU is broke so maybe not.

5% budget cuts --> 950, not 1000.

"We're ready. We think we're ready competitively to contribute to a really good league. We can provide reciprocal value to any league. Teams and fans can make the trip down to Tempe and have a good experience." -- Arizona State men's hockey coach Greg Powers.
Reciprocal value. Interesting concept.

I'm pointing out (even niche sport coach) Powers understands what conferences look for in members: reciprocal value.

Doesn't hurt that it looks like ASU's arena is the largest in college hockey west of the Rocky mountains (U Denver is technically East of the Rockies). It's only 5k, but that might say more about college hockey outside of the midwest and northeast than anything.
