All signs indicate a high target ...
Again, I'm surprised there haven't been more leaks from a committee that size (or some really good clues given by Dr. B).

Thinking Nov 18 must be when UND returns the visitor seats they couldn't sell.

Pretty sure Hammerhead is FCS 4ever, so they do exist. Seems like a nice guy tho, so I don't want to give him shit about it
But the Dakota Marker rivalry would survive NDSU going FBS, whatever SDSU does. You can be sure of that

You actually think if SDSU stayed FCS and if the stars somehow aligned for NDSU to find a conference that actually found enough value in them to offer them an invite that the two would continue playing? Regularly?
Is NDSU going to be the rare FBS school that travels to an FCS school or do you think SDSU is just going to continuously sign up for a game in Fargo?
Nice troll job and I bit on it but yikes.

Well to be fair it would draw the best atmosphere still.
Best case scenario they go together with the Montana schools but I doubt that'll actually go down.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Wasn't there a D2 team a few years back that came to the Fargodome three straight times in like 6 years?

You’re more of troll than I am, but aside from that, you really can’t stand the thought of NDSU going FBS, can you
They could make it work, probably not that hard. FBS schools play FCS teams all the time, and apparently playing in the dome all the time wouldn’t matter for the bunnies …
But IMO this team right now doesn’t deserve to be talked about in this context. We’ve seen glimpses of it, but maybe ME and TR need to go up to your place for a coaching clinic. You’re beloved fighting hawks seem to be executing at a high level. Maybe Bubba could teach them a thing or two …

What's gonna be real funny is if UND beats SDSU this weekend. The atmosphere for that final game of the season will be equal to or better than last Saturday.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
I'm curious what FBS and FCS teams play regularly, let alone continue to play for a rivalry trophy. Maybe they exist but I'd be curious how "they make it work".
For the record, I'd love nothing more than for NDSU to take a full invite to C-USA.
I do get amusement from the people think something beyond that is available or realistic right now, let alone that somehow it's "deserved" when that isn't even a thing.

I wouldn't mind seeing NDSU move to the FBS. I'm just not confident it will happen with conferences trying to limit their geographic footprints. I'll still keep going to a few games per year if we remain in the FCS and don't bother writing over and over about what I want to happen.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Doesn't UNI play Iowa and Iowa State in alternate years? I doubt there is any kind of trophy involved.

They play for the "garage door" and "piss stained field" trophies that go to the loser of the game. Both trophies are permanently on display in the UNI dome.

Mandated by state legislature. Even worse in Virginia where they require them to play on the road against lesser schools.

The UND game sold out first, but who knows if they will even be able to put up a fight this year. Every UND game in the dome has been a dud boring game. I would be more pumped for UND if they actually made it a challenge…..

Re: A new and better FBS thread
NDSU won't get an invite to MAC
CUSA/SUN BELT isn't thr most appealing
AAC would work, Tulsa the closest team?
Mountain West is still for the Best, we should all be rooting for PAC 12 to hurry up and snatch SDSU & hope we can backfill in

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Found this online looking for NDSU to FBS clues...
"Pros: NDSU has something of a brand, thanks to its utter domination of FCS football. If the Bison want to take the leap to FBS, the MWC is the logical conference affiliation."
New Mountain West Commissioner to be named by end of the year. Do Any of these guys help out NDSU? Maybe Wyoming's AD & Craig Bohl help us

Wyoming athletic director Tom Burman
MW deputy commissioner Bret Gilliland
Ex-Utah athletic director Chris Hill
USC football executive Ed Stewart
Big Sky commissioner Tom Wistrcill
Long shots - Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne, Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens and Pac-12 deputy commissioner Jamie Zaninovich

And we see how important basketball is in their candidate pool

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Thank you..
I don't think that is their whole candidate pool. There are women in the mix too.
However, of that group is seems like the Big Sky commish might be your ace in the hole. He would certainly know the most about you.
Gilliland has been the deputy for years. The schools already have a relationship with him. I don't know how he effects your situation one way or the other.
Being a commissioner is a different gig than being an AD so I would be surprised if they hired one of those guys..

These are the types of things I expect to hear when there may be some background activity going on, but no openings/offer yet. He isn't going to openly pontificate about a cascade of events giving us an MWC invite, because it's not certain. But they are aware there is chaos and that can produce openings. Maybe we end up in MAC also, hard to say.
What I heard in this interview is location/region matters to us as well. This interview was recorded before the more recent one with the Insiders where he laid out the reasons why CUSA was not the answer. That whole conference is still very shaky, and might implode entirely. Saying no to CUSA doesn't rule out other conferences.

The one who almost always is proven wrong. These ADs and conference people all know each other. They talk all the time formally and informally. Think about D1 only. There are around 250 D1 football programs (the real driver here) and 25 conferences. Half of them are FCS. It's a small group who know each other well. How many schedules do you think may be set at the bar after a conference or on the golf course?
I had a conversion over lunch with the person at a major P5 school (consistently in the top 25) and asked him about scheduling NDSU. He said no because they rarely schedule FCS schools and they might lose to the Bison. But he knew staff at NDSU and either could contact the other to have scheduling conversations. The Bison are known and respected at all levels of college athletics.

I agree 100%. Ive posted those sentiments many times. Unfortunately some here need to be told numerous times. If they arent consulted personally then nothing is going on.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
I truly believe NDSU is very respected all over the NCAA. I would like to see an ooc game against NDSU in Reno. The Pack lost to a FCS program this season and while that is rare, nobody jumped off a building..Sometimes you win sometimes you lose. I believe other MW schools would also look at it the same way. I think your traveling fans would have fun in Reno. September weather is fabulous and there is lots to do.
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
The next update from the NCAA Transformation Committee is Oct 26. Expecting to hear much before then is futile.

Real timeline driver is the PAC media deal being negotiated. After that PAC is likely to pull the trigger on their expansion candidates.

only person who ever called scottie that was a dominatrix who... ironically, was in reno.
she didn't tell him not to play with guns but she did convince him to take a second mortgage on his house
