NDSU's Bresciani was on that. I'm surprised more information about that isn't flowing in local media.

For G5s it's about survival and costs. KSU was in the middle of C-USA's footprint and they needed a warm body to stay above FBS minimum 8 teams (if they get poached again) so it was a no-brainer.
For P5s (now P2?) it's about Teflon coating and Lexan lining the armored bank vault and revenue streams (OU/UT to SEC and USC/UCLA to B1G are no-brainers under that criteria).

Pretty soon the only FCS schools left will be Presbyterian, Valpo, and NDSU. Maybe Moorhead State can move up to FCS so we have some company.

Ummm ... might want to read up on the Pioneer Conference.
Hint: we're the newbies.

Every conference in FBS has representatives on the D1 Transformation Committee and every single one of them stands by each other to remain as Football Bowl Subdivision leagues. Sankey himself understanding that his league's actions were fully responsible for what happened to Conference USA stands by Commissioner Judy MacLeod and recognizes Conference USA's right to do whatever they need to do to remain viable. Greg is actually pretty sympathetic in that regard. I know it's not what you want to hear, but that that's okay. You'll get over it.

Would also be super shitty of the sun belt and others to raid CUSA like they did and then after the fact make it impossible for CUSA to survive. There’s already enough anti-trust legislation that somehow is being avoided

Oh I'm sure I will since I don't care abut CUSA. It's lame though. Even you can see that I'm sure

Obviously you do care or else you wouldn't have mentioned it with interesting word choices and tone. I especially found amusing "slam the door on CUSA" and the "unworthy FCS teams." I guess Kennesaw, Sam Houston, & Jacksonville State will be skipping communion for a while until they repent for wanting to better their universities as a whole by being in a better position for athletics.

I never saw CUSA as a viable home for NDSU and I followed D1 CFB for decades before I started paying any attention to FCS. That’s where the ire you detect is coming from. What your conference is doing to survive – calling up low-level FCS teams with minimal followings in already saturated markets – is bad for the subdivision, plain and simple
So yes, from that angle I care, but like you say, I’ll get over it

This is interesting. We know North Dakota State will never get a bid to a Power 5 league because the brands of Power 5's are too arrogant to call up an FCS no matter if you have 9 or 900 FCS titles. So what is a viable FBS league for NDSU? Sun Belt won't take them nor will the AAC. Mountain West? Would NDSU be okay being in a Mountain West that has only Hawaii, San Jose State, New Mexico, UTEP, & New Mexico State? And maybe South Dakota State and a couple of Big Sky teams? Because the Mountain West stands a very good chance of looking very much like that. Craig Thompson knew that too. That's why he's stepping down. It's not unusual for longtime commissioners to step down before a conference starts getting ripped apart. Look at us with Britton Banowsky, and the ASUN with Ted Gumbart as two more good examples of that.

Delaware appears to be heading to FBS too.
Gonna be stuck here like we were in D2 for far too long......:(

You mean like the Big 12 is getting gutted now that Bowlsby is gone? MWC will be just fine
Go get Delaware and change my opinion about CUSA
Look bro, I didn’t mean to offend your sensibilities. I wanted to see FBS get smaller, not bigger, and I took "transformational" literally. My bad but I defend my right to have opinions about what your conference is doing to survive

LOL! I find your comments amusing. As far as the Big XII, they were certainly not gutted. They lost 2 good teams, but that was NOT a gutting. Even so, Bowlsby did step down not long after that change. Dan Beebe, who commissioned the Big XII right before Bowlsby actually stepped down after Nebraska, Colorado, Texas A&M, & Missouri left. Something to consider too is that the Big XII was not going to struggle to replace teams when your league has an AQ bid to an NY6 bowl as well as NCAA-sanctioned autonomy status. Conference USA didn't have any of that and neither does the Mountain West.

I was being sarcastic about the Big 12. Apparently it went over your head. My apologies

Re: A new and better FBS thread
If anyone is getting gutted, well, ...
the PAC is open on the table and the two most important organs (USC/UCLA) are removed and will be B1G-ly transplanted. Now the rest of the "surgeons" are looking for what else they might want to cut out for transplant.
I've said before I could see ...
UW/UO/CaliStan to B1G
Four Corners to BXII
WasSU/OrSU merge with MWC (and maybe keep PAC name to keep "autonomy conference" status)

You are assuming the MW is going to be gutted? Where are all these schools going to go? San Diego State checks some boxes but the rest of the conference members don't. You do know that the exit fee with 2 years notice is 16 million bucks..The fee for leaving with 1 year notice is 35 million.
I think the Pac 10 will remain the Pac 10 for awhile. I think the MW will have the same lineup for awhile as well.
Thompson is in his late 60's and is just retiring for the usual reasons.

Screaming and throwing fits doesn't give us an invite.
Your answer to everything is fire everyone - the President, AD, etc, repeatedly, until someone succumbs to your desires and NDSU is magically FBS.
You really think our leaders don't understand the landscape?
Bresciani is one of a handful of university leaders literally writing the NCAA FBS transformation rules.
We will be fine. I'd much rather land in a good home than do something stupid.
For all you know, they may be working out a deal with the PAC.
That conference is going to add members, they just need to sort out their media deal first.

Probably because good leaders don't give a flying rats ass what randoms on a message board think. Just a hunch.

You mean regional university leaders might be working on collaborative efforts on things beyond football? Whodathunkit.
PS - The B1G is merely the athletics arm of the BTAA. And the BTAA is where the money really is.

Utah, often cited as a CFB-heavy state, has 3 FBS teams and 3M people
One FBS team per million or so people is a good metric for keeping your feet on the ground (sorry Montana)
New Mexico – 2M people
Idaho – almost 2M people
North Dakota – almost 1M people
Math never lies. Sorry
SBC is obviously a joke, but I found it even funnier that USD and UND were left out (as they should be, TBH)

"The Snow Belt" is just as plausible as any "what if" on CSNBBS, meaning mostly delusional with noted streaks of biases.

they should because we'd be FBS by now and working our way up into a P5 invite to Big 12.
Think about it. 2015 NDSU is in Mountain West and wins 4 outta 5 years, the Big 12 wouldve grabbed us by now
instead I'm stuck here with fcs pudville
and you're dam right the Pres and NDSU admin should've listened to us and WORKED THEIR ASSES OFF SOLICITING FBS CONFERENCES
THEY STILL HAVENT CONTACTED ONE !!!!

No. They wouldn't have received an invite. Football Jesus wasn't getting NDSU into the MWC at that time.
