Not sure why the Kinnebrew girl from century did t get an offer from NDSU. She is by far the best player in the state this year.

She was a lot better than I gave her credit for, but to say she was a lot better than Nissley and Schiller is crazy.

Great offensive player but a defensive liability. Niss sprained an ankle mid season and never fully recovered from that. When healthy, plays on a different level than Kinn in all phases of the game with the exception of offense, but still a more complete offensive player. Kinn is a great player, but can be selfish whereas Niss elevates those around her better than Kinn.

Don’t know where to put this so I’ll drop it here as a matter of info. Ryan Cobbins is back in the portal after spending one year at Alabama.

Looks like Ryan Cobbins played in 28 games for Alabama,
averaged 13.6 mpg, 2.7 ppg, 2.5 rpg.

Would likely be a grad transfer at this point but still odd to leave after a year at an SEC schoo.

Nothing is odd in the current environment of massive transfers

Ryan is transferring as a grad transfer to Kansas. Jayhawks won the postseason WNIT. Coggins will be reunited with former Bison Asst coach Morgan Paige.

She transferred this summer, there was no announcement, the only way I found out was saw her IG story had her in a different uniform for summer workouts. Kind of saw this coming since she didn't get to see the floor much and with the incoming talent we added that wasn't about to change. Definitely a bummer, I was a fan

Two previously committed players signed with NDSU
Claire Stern (6’ F) and Marisa Frost (5’ 9” PG) will join the Bison in the fall of 2024.

Saw this on her IG story the other day, the suddenness of it was surprising. She was immediately dropped from the roster online as well. Hopefully it was just because it was at semester break and not because of some off the court issue, just seems odd she wouldn't at least finish the season. She seemed to have a lot of tools to be solid but needed some skill refinement, apparently didn't want to do that in practice and she just wasn't going to see minutes over Evans, Graham, Abby K or Koenen and with all of those players being sophomores or freshman likely not much room for her to crack the lineup either.

One thing I like about Jory he hasn't been shy when speaking about wanting players on the team that want to work, learn, etc and that he knows it's not going to be an environment that suits everyone. It has always sounded to me like he knows he can be hard on his players but it's with a purpose and so far the results have been positive.

I finally got to a practice this year to see what he's like and he definitely pushes players hard, calls them out immediately when they make mistakes but instead of just yelling, he immediately coaches them up on what they did wrong and how to do it right and is also very encouraging when players get it right. I LOVE the way he coaches but yes, it won't be everybody's cup of tea.

Agreed, He will get after them but as you said coach them up to be better. He gets this program clicking he will be gone but we have him now and he is doing really well. Still a ways to go but him and the players will get there.

doing really well? Has he been an improvement from the bottom where we were? sure. But I figured this would be his best year and we have been average at best. Maybe it's me but I expected more.

Re: Catch all Recruiting thread
I know they still haven't knocked off SDSU (not many have) but NDSU has some momentum in WBB right now and they need to absolutely take advantage of it. Now would be the time to pour gas on the fire and bring in more big time recruits. WBB is growing in popularity and there is no reason for NDSU to not be at/near the top of the Summit, fighting for a conference championship each year.

Re: Catch all Recruiting thread
Going to be an interesting Girls tournament this year in Bismarck class AA.
We have some impressive talent in the state for girls right now.
Minot:
Lee Lee Ball - Sophomore - she is best player I have ever seen in person in ND for girls basketball (high major offers)
Fricke -Sophomore - from Minot has knee injury and will probably be out - NDSU offer
Legacy
Brooklynn Felchle -Junior - SDSU commit
Marlee Falcon - freshman to keep an eye on
Red River
Jocelyn Schiller - PG - UND commit
Horace:
Jaiden Haile- junior - Gonzaga / NDSU / Iowa State offers
Lakyn Donnelly - 8th grader - UND offer
Jordan Christofferson - 9th grade - UND offer

Re: Catch all Recruiting thread
Karley Franks just made 11 3-pointers for Davies and scored 43 points. Is she going anywhere to play college basketball? Jocelyn Schiller scored 45 in the same game but in a losing effort.
-
Re: Catch all Recruiting thread
Franks has offer Jamestown and interest from Concordia, Morehead from what I know.
