who was the tall 6 6 white kid with the camofluage that looked a tad outta place with Nate, DJ, Shaman and the recruits?!?!
is that a kicker??
Bohl was sure slick with the boyz in the corner last night, entertaining stuff.
How about that big ox of a MLB we recruited out of JUCO last year? Maybe he will step up. Certainly has the size to steamroll RB's like big #8 Mays. The guy was originally signed with Georgia Southern. But you are right. MLB is looking like the weak point of a defense that should be one of the best in the nation.
Any updates on this weekends visits? Names?
Looks like another possible WR according to Kolpack and the blog....JUCO out of LA...
Rodney Reagans from Chandler, AZ as given his verbal to SIU.

Anyone know anything about the Juco WR?
Not much. Here were random stats I found. But I couldn't find anything else. Looks like he was about 5th on his team in receptions. But did lead in yards per reception. He had a couple rushes on the year. Returned one punt for negative yards. There were about 3-4 guys that had a lot of kickoff returns but he had by far the highest yards per return. Looks like a big play threat...particularly in kickoff returns. But he wasn't their favorite target on every down. A Freshman kid was the #1 receiver.
He also played both ways in high school. Had 37 tackles from the safety position his junior year.
Considering there is much made by some that if a recruit isnt being looked at by some FBS or top FCS teams they arent worthy of being a Bison I give you this article. It may lessen your fears some what. PL

Nice. I especially like this nugget in the article:
"Longtime talent evaluators for both sites quote similar statistics. They figure they’re on target as much as 60 percent of the time, which they see as a decent record given everything that has to go right for a recruit to become a standout."
So, for all of you who didn't think Bohl needed a QB this year and could have waited until next year rather than take Jensen, even if Bohl ever get's to 60% (no, on QBs he's not there yet) those are not good odds. This is especially true if you consider that if there was no Jensen this year than they would have only gotten 2 QB recruits in 5 years. Those are not good odds to finding a decent QB.
Thanks PL, this just confirmed what we should all know. Each position needs a lot of recruits so that there is a chance someone recruited can actually play.
It also means just because a player isnt being recruited doesnt mean he cant play. I believe there are over 100,000 HS football players. So if there are 119 Div 1-A schools that means each school would have to research at least 1000 players to get the goods on each player.
DO you think quite few players just might fall through the cracks??????PL
What the deuce does PL mean ? Someone's initials I imagine.
Hey eight, since you are obviously a 'youngun' and I am, well, old, I can tell you that PL stands for Pete Lana, one of the Bison greats in the 70's, in the Erhardt and Kjelbertson era. For those of us 'old' enough to remember and actually watched him play, he was one of the great ones. Smart kid, younger than me actually which makes him a "youngun" also :D :D :D
Greats? average..maybe.
Right on. Yes, I'm a youngster and have never heard the name. Maybe I need to brush up on my Bison history a little. I didn't start bleedin' green and gold until Bentrim was QB.
Pete Lana was a Fargo Shanley grad. Who is also in the Bison Hall of Fame.
My dad is a '66 Shanley grad. When was Lana there ?
Here is a NDSU recruit for track that the football coaches would like to have him walk on. Sounds like he was a WR and DB in high school.

Just got back home from the Fargo South vs. West Fargo boys hockey game. I didn't need a program to tell me which player on the ice was Danny Luecke. The program has him listed at 6'5" 225 lbs. I question that though. He hit a slap shot so hard that one of the refs turned and ducked when he launched it. I was impressed with him. He did his job on the ice and was never involved in any of the extra curricular crap that was going on. The ref sent him to the penalty box once and everyone I was standing next to from south were chuckling saying they doubt it was Danny. He sounds like a clean cut kid with a good head on his shoulders.
My younger brother played defense with Danny's older brother from Flyers all the way up through high school so I know that you're right when you say that Danny is a clean cut kid.
Plus, I think their dad works in the ag department at NDSU as well. My brother worked the sugar beet plots for him for a couple summers.
fixed for you. i was a part of that side of town for a while and there are a lot of kids that arent "clean cut" nor do they good heads on their shoulders. however, most of the kids that come out of that football program are top notch classy kids (minus that one und/uno kid).
Is the coaching staff still looking for additional signees or are we tapped out on scholarships?
My guesstimate is that the Bison have a couple scholarships available. According to media reports, NDSU had offers on the table to Arizona linebacker Rodney Reagans (eventually committed to SIU) and Hopkins DB/WR Marcus Williams in the last days leading up to signing day. Williams is still uncommitted and possibly looking for a basketball scholarship.
GET ON THAT EARLY!! I LIKE IT!!
p.s- should have an extra schooly with Tjack leaving (im speculating)
thats exciting!!!
Didn't want to dig up the 2008 recruit thread so i'll put it here. I know there had been some questions of whether Greg Reid was here or not. Well I have a friend who is taking HNES 100 with him so he is here.
Yesterday afternoon, I went over to Moorhead High to watch the Spuds play Marshall in boys basketball. What does this have to do with 2009 football recruiting? Tyler Gimmestad, who signed an LOI and will play DT at NDSU, plays hoops for Marshall. I had read quite a bit about this kid's athletic ability and he is supposed to be a pretty good hoopster.
I was a little disappointed. Gimmestad is very well coordinated. He can do some things with the ball that you don't expect from a kid with his build. I was not impressed with his quickness, and he can't jump at all--I'm talking not at all. He doesn't appear to be an explosive athlete and I fear he will have a lot of work to do if he is ever going to play for the Bison. Obviously, the caveat is I haven't ever seen him play football, and the coaches know much more than I. I just expected to see a more impressive athlete.
