I’m not sure what’s redeeming about winning a golf tournament but it has been enjoyable to see Tiger physically healthy and playing well consistently again.

I imagine you’re right if you are referring to winning a company sponsored scramble out at Hawley Country Club. In this case you might struggle to get many who agree though (you’ll get a few).

Those irons are money, mangy! I model my swing after one murray Irwin norman aka moe------an old pin-setter from kitchener, Ontario who had such straight and accurate ball striking that once Ben Hogan himself walked by him on the range and muttered "you keep hitting those accidents, kid!" I take a big and wide "punchers" stance, straight left arm with baseball grip and let er rip, much like moe:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=os6iiubWJUc
Last summer my golfing buddy big kenny from Louisiana remarked on my swing "boy your bowed up like a yard dog shitten out a peach seed!"
Lmfao, funny u should post tiger and dechambeaus Bridgestone commercial-------I was just reading in the golf magazine how tiger basically invented the modern day golf ball, that guy is something else!
On a serious note I am looking forward to the Moe documentary, if it ever finally does come out:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2tamd4i-vkY
I do try to swing like him and am a big believer in the single length and single plane swing (and a wide, punchers stance much like a Mexican boxer in. A phone booth fight) what brand of clubs does Amy use mangy? I can not wait for beth page! I see Bryson and big John Rahm have some nice prices on them------go Amy , go tiger, go bison!

I see that Adam Scott has gone back to the long putter and is having good success. Do you think that McCarron and Langer are anchoring? Sure does appear that way. Who do you think are the biggest jerks in pro golf? Koepka, Perez, and Woodland are all right up there. On a brighter note, looks like my weekend will be freed up. I would rather watch my brain dead 10 year old neighbor kid stare into the sky and say “Airpane” over and over and over again, than any more of Koepka. Cheers! :banghead:
Not sure how much I care if they’re jerks or not. Reminds me a bit of this.

Good point. At the most basic level, it is an extremely democratic game that simply measures how many. I suppose that for some fans as well, that is all that matters.

Re: Masters Golf and Any Other Miscellaneous Golf Discussion
OK.....this one's for you mangy....
Don't remember the exact year but sometime in the late 90s...…
I was a volunteer marshal on the 18th tee at Cog Hill in Lemont, Illinois for the Motorola Western Open.
John Daly, who had fallen out of contention on a muggy and hot summer Sunday, lumbered up to the tee. The beautiful finishing hole on Dubsdread (course #4) hole was playing its usual 450 yards with some nasty left and right bunkers about 270 yards out. On their second, players needed to careful to stay right as a huge lake loomed in close proximity to the left edge of the green.
A large crowd had gathered at the 18th despite Daly being buried on page 2 of the leaderboard. In this particular season, Big John had embraced a big ol' zero iron as his go to club on long par 4s. Known for often hitting his driver erratically, the zero allowed him to let er rip with his enormous swing usually getting 300 yards plus with good accuracy.
He teed it up, took one practice swing and then crushed it. The ball took an immediate right turn with some pretty nasty spin sending the fairway spotters scrambling westward as the ball appeared to sail out of play. One of the marshalls about 310 yards in the distance waved back to us indicating that they couldn't find the ball.
Daly grumbled and teed up a second. With another monstrous effort, his second (provisional) ball took off in exactly the same slicing arc as the first. This time, we were told that the ball was well out of play coming to rest far right of the fairway and became hung up in a hospitality tent.
JD was now furious. He said a few choice words and angrily took a 3rd ball out of his pocked and tossed it recklessly onto the tee box. He approached it quickly and took a might whack at it. The ball went straight as an arrow easily landing at 310/320 yards right down Broadway. Well......good news/bad news....he finally had a ball in play.....but was laying 5. He launched the zero iron in a shot put motion to his caddy who was standing about 30 feet from him, and left in a huff.
A few minutes after the following twosome teed off and left the area, a grinning marshal pulled up (on his cart) to where we were standing and said......Hey. Get this.....they found Daly's 1st ball off of the tee and he was allowed to play it.....He made par.

An outstanding and very well written golf story IzzyFlexion. SlickVic was right...your arsenal of stories is outstanding! Will have to schedule a round of golf and good yarns with you and SlickVic, dufferole, El Chapo et.al. some day! Probably should put together a nice Bisonville scramble or shamble! Skol!
I’ll get the first round!:

Re: Masters Golf and Any Other Miscellaneous Golf Discussion
A few additional blurbs from the Western Open.
Brief small talk about the heat with Tiger and his then caddie, Michael "Fluff" Cowan.
Bill Murray caddied for Scott Simpson. (Different year)
Curtis Strange was NOT a pleasant person.

Re: Masters Golf and Any Other Miscellaneous Golf Discussion
Played in Jimmie Scramble yesterday for like the 25th time. 60 teams this year. Gets bigger every year. This was a long one as we had 2 rain and lightning delays. Started at 1 and got done a little before 8. 24 teams played in the morning and no delays for them. Always a great time seeing old friends. Plenty of beers were had. Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads out there
