the other football schools might have something to say about that if they lose a FB school

UNI, Illinois State, and Indiana State should join....

...wait for it....

...The Summit League.

You TOO can coach a Sunbelt team during their spring game......
Are there any legitimate reports about this, other than Dom Izzo's tweet?
they should also let a fan coach the defense. now that would be interesting
They have six more years of reaping the benefits of Wichita state though and then the money Creighton brought in the past few years from the tourney. The Summit only has one win past the minimum amount of money conferences get. UNI needs every penny they can get. It would be a stupid move financially for any of them to leave.
Even without the Wichita the MVC is on par with the Horizon. All of those basketball programs are well supported.
MSU's president is denying the rumors now.
Might be just Liberty and JMU for that last spot in the Belt. It is JMU's if they want it, seems their president prefers the CUSA or MAC though and may hold out for them.
UMass could be in play as well, since some Sun Belt schools don't want Liberty.
I think it could happen with MSU, I just don't think this is the year.
JMU is officially off the table...

It’s no secret the Sun Belt Conference is actively looking at membership expansion, but one school – James Madison University – has removed itself from contention according to the league’s commissioner.
“It appears they made a decision to stay FCS,” Sun Belt commissioner Karl Benson said Tuesday during a stop in Orlando for the announcement of the creation of the Cure Bowl. “We never offered an invitation and we never extended an invitation either formal or informal.
“They were under consideration,” he added.
So Star2Shitty/SueVolley was wrong? It can't be possible...
He is NEVER wrong. He will simply say it is part of the master plan to get the Whioux and the rest of the BSC into FBS as the Sun Belt West. You know, he does have "confidential" documents. Of course he can't reveal any of these documents. If he does his computer will disintegrate and he will be taken by the secret Idaho police after which he will vanish into the unknown.
Star is truly the biggest moron on the web. His stuff is so whacked out it just has to be the product of some kind of mental illness or traumatic brain injury.
Sun Belt expansion heating up again....new rumors swirling and the focus seems to be on Coastal Carolina and possibly EKU as well.
Those two schools make sense for them. Expands their footprint without killing them travel-wise except for Idaho in football. I don't know much about EKU, but CC seems to have the ability to fund a move up. JMU would have been nice for them geographically, as well.
Me too. Heck were actually starting to develop a fun little rivalry with them which is great since weve aready lost the Georgia Southerns and Appalachian States of the world. Non conference competition is looking weak already. I just hate seeing the league get watered down. Yeah its good for us obviously but serious. .
At what point do we say its time to move up? Albeit rumors etc, we cant sit around while all the good teams move on. deja vu anyone?
When the P5 break off and not a minute sooner. As things are we have absolutely no shot at a meaningful post season in the FBS.(I hate the bowl system) All these teams making the jump to FBS just waters down division, how many more will it take? I'd really hate to uproot everything we've built in the MVFC and Summit only to have it all fall back to the 2nd level after a few years.
Path to Championship = Easier
Bottom line is teams like Appalachian and Georgia Southern were tougher competition than replacement perennial playoff teams like Coastal Carolina. If they leave we get 3rd tier replacement playoff teams to beat.
That being said, I enjoy good competition
Is there an article/study etc showing travel cost comparisons between sunbelt members? I find it hard to believe traveling from Georgia Southern to Texas State or Idaho would be significantly more than Georgia Southern to NDSU. If you fly is the cost really that different? IMHO the Sunbelt teams in general would shit their britches and buckle up if NDSU joined the conference. Think about it. What bottom level FBS conference would want NDSU?
