IMO the real reason for a rebuild would be to expand capacity. As long as we are MVFC it’s not really needed right now. What we do need is improvements to the amenities and some modernization, but the shell itself is ok. Updating the interior to make it more pleasant for fans is where the focus should be. Maybe in 10 or 20 years a rebuild would be merited.

The dome is booked most weekends all year so ita a relevant building
I'm curious to see the plan for club seating. Will it be on the west side up top? That solves a huge problem. What about the press box on the north?
But the fans want the wider concourses, more restrooms and food
But the convention space could be huge for events overall, especially if they can find a hotel

Are there any hotels north of the dome and just east of the airport?

Homewood Suites and Days Inn are just north of 19th avenue. Candlewood Suites is on NDSU property just west of the dome.

Homewood Suites and Days Inn are up there already. Not really anywhere for additional ones to go as get north of those is some sort of warehouse some office buildings and NDANG
I always figure west of the tracks/Dakota Dr and west of the research fields would be a candidate for a stadium if it ever got that far. As guessing NDSU is not going to mess with those research fields not to mention that is right on the main flight path to the airport anyway.

So how practical would it be to build a skyway over 19th to get to those hotels? Minneapolis convention center does not have attached hotel but access via skyway. Same with the DECC in Duluth - skyway access to downtown.

It will be along University in the SE corner of the dome. It will be for a private developer. Conventions want on site hotels. It will be a benefit for gamedays too. I suspect it will have a skyway that connect to the convention center and the SHAC

Why isn't there a Marriott property up by the dome?

How feasible is this due to parking constraints? Everyone has always said they'd build one in that spot, but that would kill a lot of parking for everything in that area, including the Dome, SHAC and convention center/hotel.
Now could this become more feasible if they did the unthinkable and tear down Dakota Field?

Because the highest and best use for any open space is to, pave it and leave it empty 95% of the time just in case someone might want to put their car there someday.
