assuming all 15 verbals sign how many more schollys do we have available?
Added Boen Anderson from Minnetonka/NDSCS to the verbal list. That's 16.
I *thought* I read somewhere that we have 22 schollies to dish out this year - not sure if that's in any way accurate or true, but it seems like it would be somewhere on the money.
Totally different topic, but overall I like where our recruiting is going. 16 verbals from what appear to be by and large solid guys, and even the recruits we're losing are going to Iowa State, Minnesota, Wisconsin amongst other places (all three of which are bowling this season.)
Glad to see that, by my reckoning at least, Bohl is putting an emphasis on recruiting and recruiting at high levels which are still attainable by a 1AA school.
16 verbals + Marcus Williams is 17.
I think Bohl has stated multiple times on the radio that he will add 22+ kids this season.
Large class, getting close to being completed.
Thoughts on final targets?
I know Vraa the WR is a huge wish. He is the WR they want bad. Hopefully we can land him. He is a big kid who is a very good athlete.
I am hoping for more linebackers and DB's and of course Vraa at WR.
I think we have done a nice job addressing the O Line. Both short term and long term needs. That position needed depth. I also think we get deeper at LB and love the fact that AGAIN we locked up the state of North Dakota. We targeted the kids in state that we wanted, and we got them. Great job by the staff.
Besides Vraa, what kids do you think we still are targeting?
I think the MN linebackers are kids we are going after hard. Dudzik in Omaha is another kid we really want.
I am really hoping we get LB Keorris Berry out of Nevada but he may still get a late WAC offer
Anyone have any idea which side of the ball Jesse Hinz is going to be on? If he sticks on OL, I would really like to see a DT or two in this class, Hardie out of SD, is the kid really 205? That pretty much says right there he is a DE, and a small one coming in at that. One thing to think about, I think there will be a few surprises yet, it always seems like there are a couple Texas or Florida guys that pop up late in the process...
One of the MN LB's and one of the MN WR's, a stout DT, I wouldn't complain at all about Berry out of NV, maybe another QB, and lastly, a kicker! :D
Position Breakdown: 16 + Marcus Williams
QB: Esley Thorton (99% sure we don't sign another)
RB: Ryan Smith (Loaded...great addition, staff wants him in space)
WR: Trevor Gebhart (Maybe the highest rated athlete) Expect another WR.
TE:
OL: Jesse Hinz, Boen Anderson, Billy Turner, Jason Pomerenke, Adam Schueller
DL: Michael Hardie
LB: Don Carter, Kyle Emmanuel, Dillon Forbes, Tyler Gefroh
S: Andy Pfeiffer
CB: Colton Heagle, Zach Colvin, Marcus Williams (Difference Maker)
K:
That is the 17 new additions so far. I would say we are VERY deep at TE and at D Line from the last class that had several defensive lineman, we needed a batch of O lineman as we were thin and graduate 3. We clearly will sign a kicker. I think one of the corners may be a safety, I am not sure. Hinz may be a DL guy too, we have seen that we was ranked at the #1 D lineman in the state of Nebraska.
**Sort of ironic that we talk about how we have to go out of region for skill position talent, yet our QB is a Bismarck kid, RB is from Wahpeton, and the WR is from Sioux Falls. We have a great track record with local kids, and it is fun to lock up the border of ND again this year.
A kicker who can kick under pressure. Maybe a guy who got a really bad concussion in an accident and no longer has emotions.
Well, it depends. On one hand, your laughter is a sign that you haven't had a concussion severe enough to be a good kicker. On the other, your laughter is a sign that you haven't had a concussion severe enough to be a good kicker.
Anway, if Hinz isn't going to play FL, I think just add the best players regardless of position we can get and this could be a pretty special class. I do think it'd be nice to have another LB and WR but the coaches would know better.
I thought it was mentioned somewhere that Heagle was going to play safety...maybe by Hallstrom on the media blog? I would really like to see another DT or 2, right now there are 4 on the roster, two will be seniors this coming year. Even with Juckem maybe moving to DT, that still leaves only 3, too damn thin if you ask me for a position thats tough on the body. On a side note, if Juckem does move to DT, we still have 8 DE's on the roster, time to bulk up Levon Perry and move him inside if you ask me. If Perry and Juckem can bulk up, by alot, (Juckem was 245, Perry 255) and keep their quickness, they could be beasts, quick DT's who can beat pulling lineman to the point will do wonders to the performance of a defense.
some impressive plays on there of Berry... watch some of the plays in the middle of the video, very impressive!

I would like to see a kicker, another wr, a DT(possibly a Juco). And are we going to have to bring in a long snapper? We graduated ours last year and we have always carried one on the roster.
Thanks for the insight as well Burgandy. Don't know if your making your info up or getting some from the coaches but it sounds good:D
According to Hallstrom, these names can come off the offered list:
Max Busher
A. J. Troup
Lechein Neblett
Jeremy Curry
Marcus Lee

Still looking for the right receiver, a few linebackers, and defensive backs mostly. Some others, too.
Henderson is not scheduled to visit this weekend.

What Seantrel Henderson is not coming for a visit. You mean we are not going to get the number one recruit in the nation. Oh the world is coming to a end.;) ;) ;) :D :D :D :D :D :D
Hey Alice, maybe the sioux need to go to naia. i see them losing to the comets for at least 6 more years

Another verbal for the Bison.
LB - 6'1" 185lb Travis Beck - Langon-Munich
http://www.areavoices.com/bisonmedia/?blog=66024
i think kids like beck are what ndsu needs. we should sign at least 5 local kids each year at a minumin. The small town kids will prob be a little undersized, but give em a year in the weight room. Worst case scenario, they'll bust there ars off on sp teams, something we need
I disagree. Sure, local kids are great, but setting a minimum?? Are you serious? 5 a year?? Don't go for them if you don't think they can't play at the FCS level, bottomline. This is not DII. We have walk-ons for that, with hopes of earning a scholarship.
I guarantee the coaches have something figured out. I know nothing about him but he does seem extremely light to play LB. Would make a decent sized safety if hes fast/athletic?
