Randy Moss is a freak of Nature--no one else like him. He would make any passing game better (except the Raiders) If a guy has any size and good hands he is snatched up by the Big Boys running 3-5 Wide Out sets.

Cal Poly quite possibly had the worst coverage scheme imaginable for that long pass play at the end of the game. Additionally, the CB had a chance to wrap him up but slipped in the process and nobody was even close by the play to catch Heckendorf as he ran it in. This play happened because the CP coaches pulled a boner let it happen. I really like the productivity of our receivers, but they will never be any sort of a deep threat.
I am pretty sure that Heckendorf has a faster 40 time than White ran and I may be wrong, but I think I read that Belquist also ran a faster 40 time than White.
I wouldnt be suprised if Kole has the fastest 40 time of the current receivers.
The Bison run very few deep routes. This could have been due to lack of arm strength from Walker or simply the offense that Bohl runs. I can gurantee that the current receivers have more than enough speed to run the deep routes if called upon.
You are correct, Kole is one of the fastest players on the team. I always get a kick out of the guys who say we don't have a deep threat receiver. We don't run deep routes very often so the it isn't that likely we will connect on them when we do throw them. Kole I believe was a state champ or very near in the 300 hurdles. Trust me he is fast.
I don't think any of our guys are fast enough to do it. Not many are. It's not a knock on them I was just pointing out that schools like Appy get the 3 star burner and we don't. Nobody can convince me that Kole is amongst the fastest in the league. But I think we get the better lineman and linebackers. If we can snag a skilled receiver (not troy williamson) who runs a legit 4.4 than we will be unstoppable.
Jordan did well at Cal Poly, but he didn't make all of the big plays, I was there, he only caught two balls, Kole caught 3. Biggest play was Kole's 80 yd TD catch, which eclipses Jordan's 67 yd TD catch. Here are the official receiving stats for the Cal Poly game from NDSU SID:
Receiving No. Yds TD Long
----------------------------------------
Tyler Roehl 4 38 0 18
Kole Heckendorf 3 112 1 80
Tyler Jangula 3 37 0 19
Jordan Schultenover 2 115 1 67
Alex Belquist 1 24 0 24
Lee Vandal 1 16 0 16
Totals... 14 342 2 80
It would be no contest...Williams would definitely win by a landslide in a foot race...As for catching the ball and running better routes, I would give the advantage to Heck.
It's kind of like comparing Randy Moss to Cris Carter...Carter was the hands and route guy, while Moss had the speed. We'll need to see if Williams can make adjustments and jump like Randy ;)
I think you guys need to start a new thread and leave this one to new recruits.

Jose Mohler’s high school has a surfing team, which tells you he’s coming a long way to play football for North Dakota State.
The quarterback for La Costa Canyon High School in Carlsbad, Calif., has verbally committed to the Bison. The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder is described by his coach as a mobile pocket passer.
“It’ll be a culture shock for him going up there,” said La Costa coach Darrin Brown. “But he loves the game and wants to play. He’ll be fine. He’ll be in the classroom studying and he’ll work hard at football. I think he was one of the best quarterbacks in San Diego.”

NDSU also received verbal commitments from defensive tackle Brian Lawson of Chicago Rich East High School and safety Jordan Osborne of Woodlands High School in Texas.
Football signing day is Feb. 6.
BisonNeil....what do you think? Do you like? Just kidding. Glad to get a quarterback for the future.
Well at least Jose will be a fan favorite. Imagine 20000 people yelling his name in to the tune of the soccer ole' chant. That would be great!!!
I got video on "jose can you see"s 1st bisonville thread in football.

La Costa Canyon senior quarterback Jose Mohler again directed a balanced offense. The Mavericks gained 157 yards rushing, and Mohler completed 13-of-16 passes for 175 yards and one touchdown with no interceptions.
"He's a great athlete and leader," Brown said. "He can run and pass, and when he's hot, he's hard to stop."

"If they cover us, I can take off. But if they don't, I can hit my playmakers."
Sounds good. I like him already.
Jordan Osborne the Safety from TX is a Rivals 2 star D-back like Bobby Miller, looks like the passing D should be stacked!!
Updated the first page... now I must sleep.
Jordan Osborne, Safety from the Woodlands (Tx)
2 star on rivals had an offer from Army according to the site. Alot of interest from other schools. Army was the only listed offer.
6'0 185 with a 3.7 GPA. His stats showed only 4 games last year with 52 tackles and 2 interceptions.
According to my math, that is the third 2 star kid of this class. Pretty salty.
Brian Lawson. BIG KID. Was being recruited by Illinois, they even list the coach that was recruiting him, no offer.
6'2 256 Defensive End. Article lists him at 6'3.....He is VERY impressive based on this site. To get Illinois interested, you must be a stud. I love how many kids we are getting that are "borderline" big 10 kids. There are several.

Even though he'll end up being one of the more highly ranked players in Illinois this year, Lawson hasn't lost sight of the unique position he's in right now.
"I don't have any favorites right now. I get excited about every new letter I get. Each one is a surprise to me."
Lawson plans to camp with Western Michigan, Akron, and Illinois this summer. When speaking about the Illini, Lawson shows his cards a bit.
"I like Illinois a whole lot right now. They're still up there at the top of my list. If they were to offer then they'd definitely be my leader. I used to talk to the coaches there all the time, but I've slowed down some of that because I've been concentrating on school."
Finally, the last of the three tonight is the quarterback. He is listed on Rivals, but not much info on him. He is listed as 6'0 and 156. Hello Mr. Weightroom!!!! He is listed as a "Pro-Style Quarterback."
That is all I have, hope it helps.
The Forum lists him at 6-1, 185- Bison football team receives three verbal commitments, including one from California quarterback
Current Bison FR DT George Danilikowicz has a youger brother Rick Danilikowicz who is listed on one of the Illinois all state teams as an OL/DL with new recruit Brian Lawson. Wonder if the coaches have been in contact with him?
You can kid me, I can take it. And yes, I like it, very much.
I would like to know what his true size and weight is, though. McFeely has him as 6'1" and 185. I thought I heard Hallstrom say he was 6'1" and 175 (but he had specifics on DT on the screen the whole time he talked and I got distracted, could have said 185). But on the front page of this thread he is listed at 6' 160, which is a bit on the thin side, so I like McFeely and Hallstrom's size much better :)
Regardless, I am a happy man and opened the best bottle of wine in my cellar to celebrate!!!!!!!
16 kids....I think I remember hearing that we had 11-21 schollies to work with. Does that mean some of these are partials and/or walk ons? If I remember last year we had some "preferred walkons" announced on signing day.
