FBS teams will do anything they can to avoid dropping down
Not saying it wont happen but moving "up" is easier than moving down to sell a Fan base obviously, unless there is nowhere else to go

It’s not about dropping down, it’s about being kicked out. When the power conferences stop scheduling G5 schools their paydays are gone. Maybe I’m wrong and a network shells out big money for tier 2 playoffs. Maybe the nation is clamoring for an Akron vs San Jose State national championship game. But I don’t see it. This is all about money and when their money dries up, they will have to cut back or completely eliminate their football programs

Now, having said that, I don't expect to hear about it publicly just yet. Off the record conversations, talks on the golf course or at conferences... Stuff that never makes it to anyone other than the most trusted people. Never gets leaked.

Having said that NOW is the time to push hard if you are NDSU. AAC/MWC is who I'd be reaching out to with MAC as the 3rd option. Heck, I'd reach out to Big XII even or B1G if Nebraska decides to go back to the XII. Get your name in as many mouths and conversations as possible as early and often as possible.
