Re: 2010: Recruiting Summary
Well, now that the Jacks have lost coach Stig will allow his staff to start to "offer kids." Hopefully Stig will find some "good" kids that like to hunt and fish.
Meanwhile Jacks fans are making fun of us for already having 12 kids verbal to NDSU. GO BISON!!!!
I hope those two kids from Sioux Falls keep the tradition of kids from SD that dominate in Bison uniforms!

I think he was more highly rated than Beson. I wondered if he was going to join the team last year so I checked up on him. When he didn't join last year I thought he wasn't playing any more. Here's what I can't figure out. Hasn't it been three years since HS for him? How do you do that at a JC? Or am I off a year and he has three years to play two?

Re: 2010: Recruiting Summary
I don't recall Dillon but what is his story? Did he report to camp? Why the junior college route, needed to up GPA?
I hope he is a great player for the Bison over the next two seasons, sure would be a great help for the program!

Re: 2010: Recruiting Summary
It was a GPA reason for not coming. I think he was the #1 rated LB out of Wisconsin that year.

Re: 2010: Recruiting Summary
Here is my best guess at scholarships that we have/will have available.
We have the following 12 kids that have verballed prior to today.
Don Carter, 6-1, 220, Lake Forest (Lake Forest Academy), IL, LB 9/24/2009 Kolpack/Forum (first reported WDAY radio by same)
Zach Colvin, 5-9, 152, Superior, WI, DB/KR 8/9/2009 WisSports.net
Trevor Gebhart, 6-2, 180, Sioux Falls (Washington), SD, WR, 8/13/2009 Argus Leader
Tyler Gefroh, 6-2, 200, Grand Forks (Red River), ND, LB 10/10/2009 Hallstrom/WDAY/Bison Media Blog
Michael (Mike) Hardie, 6-4, 205, Sioux Falls (O'Gorman), SD, DL 7/13/2009 Fargo Forum (first reported by Terry V of the Argus Leader)
Colten Heagle, 6-0, 181, Kimberly, WI, DB 7/9/2009 WisSports.net
Jesse Hinz, 6-4, 280, Beatrice, NE, DL/OL 8/17/2009 Huskers Illustrated
Jason Pomerenke, 6-5, 300, Sioux City, IA, OL 8/27/2009 WDAY 10pm news
Adam Schueller, 6-4, 295, Fergus Falls, MN, OL 8/25/2009 WDAY
Ryan Smith, 5-7, 165, Wahpeton, ND, RB/WR 8/3/2009 Wahpeton Daily News (first reported on AM 740)
Esley Thorton, 6-2, 190, Bismarck, ND, QB, 8/21/2009 KYFR TV
Billy Turner, 6-5, 270, Arden Hills (Mounds View), MN, OL 11/07/2009 Hallstrom/Bison Media Blog
Today we add Kyle Emanuel and JUCO transfer Dillon Forbes. That puts us at 14. Then we have Marcus Williams, which will be 15.
So, I predict that we have 7+ more kids to offer, as I think at least one of those kids is on a partial scholarship.
Exciting time of the year. Especially after going 3-8. Looks like another great class.

Re: 2010: Recruiting Summary
I think you missed one Burgundy. We also have a verbal from Andy Pfeiffer from Mankato. 6'0" 190 lb safety.

Re: 2010: Recruiting Summary
with all of the players we kicked off the team this spring and summer, do we get those schollies back? or is the 23 all we have counting the extras we should have from the dismissals

How about "walk-on" schollies, how/when do we know if any current bison walk-on players get any consideration?

This info is rarely made public, but if a walk-on can make the two-deep scholarship money will likely follow.

Wow....16 verbals already......maybe only a few more can commit at this time?

Amazing, just think if Stig put some effort into getting the best recruits possible rather than working with the leftovers. Either he is really awesome with developing players, or just really lucky with how his previous 4 years of recruits turned out (seems just like Bohl he is ready for an eye opener on recruiting mistakes):

Q. What are you doing this week instead of preparing for a quarterfinal contest?
A. I'm meeting with the seniors and some guys that I need to get caught up on. The coaches are going out (recruiting) later this week. They're watching film. We feel like we're surely in a better situation than we've been. We want to make sure we're going to get top (recruits) and get them right away.
anybody else get the feeling stiggy is going to run out and play the playoff card and expect these recruits to come running???

I have a feeling that many of there recruits have been contacted through out the season. They just arent going out cold calling. If NDSU had the playoff card you can bet your butt that they would be using it also.

This is how Stig has always done it. Seems to be working pretty well, don't you think?
Your obsession with SDSU athletics and its fans just amazes me. I'm sure you'll have some smart ass reply laced with bunny turds, piss poor fans, what am I (an SDSU fan) doing on bisonville anyway, yada, yada, yada. Can't wait!

Has it been working pretty well? I would argue no, when it comes to recruiting. NDSU still has a more talented team when it comes to recruits, for whatever reason(coaching, pride, leadership) SDSU has been better on the field the last few years. I think most objective viewers would have a hard time saying that SDSU has more talent than NDSU. To not have any verbals this time of year would be concerning to me as a fan. Maybe if recruiting improved, SDSU could become a powerhouse the way NDSU is considered nationally. Obviously we are down now, but you and everyone else knows that a team and a program like NDSU can only be down before so long before we emerge just as strong if not stronger than before. That type of certaintly in a program only comes from great recruiting. SDSU has done well, but most recruits when given the opportunity will come to NDSU over SDSU, history shows us that.

Just because you sign a recruit early it doesn't mean that the recruit is any better than the one you sign in January.
When I've been searching online to find SDSU recruits it seems NDSU has an offer out to every kid in the Midwest. You can't read an article on Wissports.com that doesn't mention a kid having interest from NDSU. I've also ran into recruits like this:
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/footbal...n-Dudzik-87967
That have alot of schools showing interest and than there's always NDSU who probably offered 3 months ago.
I'm not saying it's right or wrong, just different strategies. NDSU got out and offered a bunch of kids right away. It's a strategy that I think is new to NDSU and not the normal practice in the FCS right now. I think most coaching staffs in the FCS are shorthanded enough that they are focusing more on practice/winning than recruiting. I think Coach Bohl knew that this year was going to be a wash so he jumped on recruiting early to get some recruits before other schools got going. Not a bad strategy, alot of kids site that "they recruited me early" as a strong point to why they chose one school over the other. I think it can also come back to bite at times too as there can be a risk taking kids before they've played their senior seasons.

Wasn't meant the way you took it, I know we would use the playoffs as an advantage but instead of hardcore recruiting it sounds like stig is just hanging out thinking they will come its SDSU! look at some other programs their coaches hit the trail the night after the last game! They don't hang out at home that's all I'm saying

If your post is true than we honestly need to fire our whole staff. I've heard how talented we are a couple handful of times now and I'm trying to figure it out. Talent alone should have beat some of the teams we lost to this year. Not all but some. UNI is a team that has talent and no coaching and just lines up and says "our athletes are better than yours", usually they are and it works. When a team goes 6-5 and than 3-8 there is a lack of talent. I wouldn't be telling a team that made the playoffs we have more talent, cause if we do and our coaching is that bad what do we have to lose by letting them all go? I was at the SDSU game and they had more talent than we had in my opinion.
