You gotta love them Dutch athletes

I got a chance to watch Champlin play I went to watch Osseo's QB Christopherson thinking maybe he would be a Bison, turns out I watched a different future Bison though! AJ Van Voorhis was a good player but I agree didn't think to this level but hey I'm glad we got him and I wish the best for his Bison career!! I only saw one game and he wasn't really the reason I went to watch so maybe that's why I didn't notice as much as I should have.
On another note, I was able to find a little information about Varmah Sonie. Not sure if this is true or not but I heard from someone tha he visited UNI and is visiting NDSU this upcoming weekend is what I heard. Not sure if money has been offered or not by either.
Voorhis isn't a full ride. Great kid. Great family. He wanted to be a Bison. You have to love a kid like that!
Hallstrom has some new info up on players that were here last weekend, a DE and RB from IL.

Here is the link on Ojuri that has us checked as a offer.

And here I'll jump in with my theory that we are now competing with UNI for recruits...which explains some of their attitude toward us...both here on bisonville, and elsewhere. I wrote about it in an old thread.
We are a threat to their program in one of their recruiting areas. I know that they have others.
This is fantastic!!
Ok, so now that the recruiting calss is coming together and we got a couple of transfers, how would you all grade it. I know we don't have a QB, let's just grade it with the players we have now. I think it's a good A because we are taking recruits from opponents in our conference and we got some kids who had FBS offers.
Before somebody says it, I will. If we don't get a QB this class will be a F.
I wonder if we ever talked to this guy. He commited to Central Michigain but he is from the same city as A.J. Westendorp but different school.

Ben Ericksen(WR - Greendale, WI) verbaled to Illinois State over offers from us, South Dakota and Northern Michigan plus walk-on invitations from Wisconsin and San Jose State.

Not sure how hard NDSU was after this guy.
But Princeton QB Phillip Klaphake committed to St. Cloud St.
Several schools showed Klaphake interest including North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Albany (NY), several Ivy League schools, Florida International, and others but the Princeton quarterback decided to stay close to home.
"Phillip has verbally committed to play football at St. Cloud State," said his father Glenn Klaphake. "Phillip was recruited at all levels of college football over the course of the last year and received several scholarship offers before committing to SCSU."
Princeton isn't a football hotbed, and NDSU has 5 QB's higher that have been contacted.
not really worried about princeton football.
SONIE would be a HUGE get!!
And we probs won't recruit out of the area. Apparently Mont. St. got a verbal from the qb of the 5A state champ out of Texas this weekend.
That is to bad looks like we lost him because of location and the redbirds are going to run the spread. Well good luck to him and I hope his college career works out for the best. I also hope we get to pound the crap out of his team for years to come.:D :D :D He will at least get to see what he could have been a part of when he comes to the dome.
Any information on visiting recruits this weekend? Any skill position recruits?
My "guess" is that the speed from Houston/Texas/South will be announced on signing day. Engel from MN is still out there as well at WR. The QB spot is unknown at this point. i do know one thing....This AJ kid is a good kid. I hope whatever happens, people aren't judging him for his attempts to play 1A football in his home state. If he choses Grand Valley, it is distance...we did our best. Coached did a great job with him....and it wasn't like we were not recruiting another qb during the time we spent with AJ. (We meaning the Bison obviously).
ran into a "TEXAS" player from NDSU the other night.
sounds like our man samuels has been in texas and hopefully the secondary FBS schools (baylor, rice..etc) leave our recruits alone and get their butts up to NDSU!!
I expect 2-3 kids from there!!!!
Great News....Cooper Wahlo Jr. was in town this weekend for a visit. He also has an offer from SDSU.
He had a great visit....expect a commitment this week!
I remember seeing a cool clip of him blocking a punt and returning it to the house all in one motion without the ball hitting the ground.
well color me happy....that sounds awesome.
I stated on here after the season was over that I felt we would have a more difficult time recruiting receivers with the offense we were running. The spread is just more appealing to the top WR recruits. Receivers do not invision themselves blocking 90% of the time when they go to college. Interesting that our #1 receiver (from WI the same as Heckendorf) chose somewhere else) Not a good sign in my opinion. Hopefully with a change in OC this year, this will change and the passing game will become more important. There will always be receivers to get, but don't we want the top??
Not a good sign in my opinion.

Found these pages about Garrett Bruhn from Beactrice, NE...one of our verbals. Looks like a good one. No video to look at, but still interesting. Looks like he goes to class.

If your going to run a spread where the QB runs, he's got to do it more than a few times to be effective. Aspread is pass alot or you use it to open up the field and create better running lanes for the option and use the speed to slash the D. Take West Virginia for and example. Bill Stewart stated that he wanted Pat White to show off his arm more and early in the season that made one less thing the defense had to worry about. They finished the season strong because he let White start running. Now i know there are spreads where they pass alot, and that is effective too, Mike Leach and Texas Tech, he is a mad scientist. They use the running backs to take the LB's out of the middle of the field so they can run the crossing routes with guys like Crabtree. But when you have that at WR, it's not hard to see why they are that good. For me though, I would say you gotta run with the QB so the defense has to worry about another thing, the RB, QB, even the TE (florida with TE Hernadez) on the option and even the WR in motion. But then again CA, you have a good point, if you run the QB every now and then you could suprise the defense with a few draws. What I think is that the option can set up the run by spreading out the D.
This one?

Watch at the end when they do his 40 time. OMG!
Cooper definitely looks like he'd be a great addition at WR.
BTW, anybody see this one:

Lists Darius Hammond as being interested in North Dakota State (my guess it that they probably are talking about NDSCS though). OTOH, he is a DE and NDSU barely has any verbals at the position :) Anyway, he's 6'6 267 and runs a 4.8 40.
I wonder if NDSU is signing so many defensive linemen because they've lost so many at the very last minute the last couple of years to BCS schools?
Thats the one!
Couple other tidbits:
- Woodbury has sent some athletes to Northwestern, most recently Louis Ayeni, who I think is now on the NW coaching staff in some capacity(GA?). Northwestern probably would have offered him, but didn't look like he would get by their admissions (which obviously is a high bar)
-Recruited walk on at Minnesota
- NDSU measured him currently at 6'2 3/4" 184 lbs.
- Only has played football for 4 years..still raw.
test at the Biokatz combine in Minnetonka. He placed 1st in three events: 40 yard dash: 4.43 - Vertical: 40.5 inches - Broad Jump: 120 inches (10 feet)
Sounds raw, but with huge athletic ability. We need some athletes at the WR position. I hope he verbals this week....and signs in two weeks!
Looks like you turn Taylor Nelson Green and put the verbal next to him

WOW. Another GREAT GET for the staff. Those are some great offers that he passed up to be with us.
http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recru...6season%3d2009
6 5 220
iowa, minnesota on his list on espn
says 6-5 235 on wday 6 offers from BALL STATE, BUFFALO and UNI
Anybody else worried that we haven't heard about a QB verbal yet?
Coach time is close to expiring...let's get something going!!!
