Picking a coach because the players want him is a bad idea. As others have said, you need the best coach for the program, not for the kid that will be gone in 12 months.

I agree 100%. Yes, the players may like Roehl, but the decision is not theirs to make. That said, a hypothetical situation...Tyler gets passed over for the HC job, does that mean there is a mass exodus of players entering the Transfer Portal due to their preference of HC not getting the job?
A second hypothetical...Tyler does get the job, who is the preferred OC replacement? Beschorner, as he was the OC in Mankato for six years? Hedberg? Or, do they consider looking externally and bringing a guy like Messingham back?
