Right, my point was historically FCS playoffs have had negative revenue/profit on NCAA side and been subsidized. That was the driver for regionalization, it was simply a cost containment measure by NCAA. If the NCAA collected revenues supported longer trips for everyone they could end regionalization entirely and fully seed the bracket.

The NCAA loses money on the FCS tournament overall. They probably lose less than most other sports, but they are still underwritten some by the basketball revenue (85% of NCAA revenue). I hear many schools lose money hosting, but I have no idea if that's true for NDSU.

So how do you sell TV rights and 15,000 tickets and lose money?
Maybe that's why we're being held captive in the FCS? We're the last big drawing card that they have.

The NCAA get what ever the bid was or 70% of ticket sales which ever is greater. If I remember correctly.
Re: A new and better FBS thread
Personally I suspect we are in the last few days before we get our announcement.

Let the wild-ass speculation begin. I suspect we’ll know something this week, about more than just the PAC. NMSU makes the most sense to me and would qualify as a “bombshell”. I guess we’ll find out this week how tapped in these guys are … they are quite bullish on NDSU to MWC

NMSU seems more like a dud tbh.
back over the winter it was reported that NDSU and MWC had discussions and NDSU was firm on all-sports-only. Assuming that they want to move up, which I think they do, I don't think you play that card unless you have something better than a MWC football-only bid in your pocket.

NMSU to the PAC would make no sense for the PAC.
