Truth. The challenge with FCS Indy is likely 3/4 of FCS wouldn't want to play us for fear it would be a loss that keeps them out of the playoffs. Didn't JMU chicken out of a proposed regular season matchup over that? Given MVFC has some of the best remaining teams, it might make our schedule even more pud oriented than now. I'd sort of hate to replace SDSU with a Morgan St, Towson or Norfolk St type game.

Do you seriously think when they were fund raising for this facility that donors were told we needed this to stay relevant in the FCS? Or that this is another step to FBS?

A good coach would encourage his AD to schedule the most difficult games as possible.
You can't improve playing against garbage programs.

For a lot of schools, just making the playoffs and possibly winning a game or two is considered success. There's not more than 4-5 that can really challenge us, and they generally want to improve their seeding by posting a better regular season record.
The one great thing about FCS playoffs is the true champion always emerges. If you are good enough, you will continue to advance in playoffs until you meet a superior team. This is why FBS should have more G6 conference autobids, though the odds are a million to one against it due to money and power.

That's all fine & good if your aspirations in life peak at living in Greenland's basement and weeding his garden. Winners in life will intentionally choose the more difficult pathway.

there is nothing great about fcs playoffs....more than not 2nd and 3rd round matchups are worse than the previous rounds bc of regionality....

First 2 rounds suck but the semi and natty were really good. But most years we play cupcakes before the real games

I like that it leaves no doubt who the true champion is each year. Any team can theoretically win it all.
Have we outgrown fcs? Yes, but that doesn't make it a bad playoff system. The regionality thing could be fixed if the games generated more revenue to cover expenses.

Regionality is largely fixed with them moving to 16 seeds as of last year.

The NCAA covers the expenses and keeps most of the revenue. So we're end up getting free games and exposure on ABC, ESPN and ESPN plus. Teammakers gets playoff games to do the 50/50. The dome gets free revenue. NDSU not so much
