Re: A new and better FBS thread
Apologies for shouting this into the abyss one last time, but this is the exact moment in time where i believe it would have paid dividends to be proactive about FBS messaging. Get other fan bases and by extension their boosters and administrators in the frame of mind that we intend to be G5 and successful while we do it. Help them understand what we bring to a conference.
Yes I understand “the people who need to know, know”, but the people who don’t get paid a million bucks to know the difference, don’t know why their conference would or should be looking at NDSU. Half the battle these days is waged on Twitter.

Still have no clue if Cook is serious about the FBS or not. This whole keep it hush-hush you know where we stand ML quote might just be to temper the fan revolt that rejecting an invite would bring. If you start making public statements, there is no real backing away from making the move.

Theres also potential fallout if you publicly announce you are all in on FBS, then don't land an invite.

What fallout? Lol you mean the fans might actually realize we’re stuck in a subdivision of teachers’ colleges and glorified community colleges?

Things are moving fast today because there is a lot of arm wrestling between PAC, AAC, and MWC going on.
After that settles, MWC may take a moment to regroup, evaluate and plan their path forward.
They will have a pot of money, and could try to raid someone else.
Whoever remains are the ones that will ultimately meet to decide what they want to do with MWC.
That could move fast, or a little more deliberately. PAC was on ice a while before all the activity of the past few days.
If MWC shrinks to 4/5 now, one or two of those could explore options as well. But ultimately, I think MWC will rebuild. Hard to know how quick they move.

I didn't say go full lakes, I just want some backchannel buzz that our admin is excited about the possibility. They literally don't even need to state it, just leak it to some lackey reporter.
Really I am not sure what the fallout is of going full lakes....maybe some recruiting issues and diminished fan excitement I guess. No conference we play in is going to care because we play in leagues full of basketball and hockey schools that are content to live where they are.
Re: A new and better FBS thread
If our leadership squanders this rare opportunity, why would a stud HS baller want to come to NDSU knowing NDSU has reached their ceiling?

How many current players are here for FBS potential, and how many because they want to play for championships and a chance at the pros?
Don't know that answer, but would be a little surprised if we've been selling recruits on FBS.

I think we’ve sold a lot of recruits on the enthusiasm and excitement around the program. That is becoming a harder sell every year that we remain in the FCS.
