Nope, the four schools that left the MW want absolutely nothing to do with the lower schools. The difference is legit $10M+ per year.

Depends if PAC runs out of time/money/resources to fight with. They need 2. In theory the pool seems deep enough to pull from somewhere. Would they rather join/add ALL of the remaining MWC schools, or take the PAC 6 and add some schools like Texas St/UTEP/etc.
They wanted the "best" of G5, but there are other Texas and nearby options. They might approach SBC schools also, though some of the eastern ones are a bad fit geographically. Maybe they target schools like Louisiana, USM, Ark St on the western side.

This situation has really flip turned upside down.
Adding gonzaga is great, but might make other football adds less attractive imo. Maybe gonzaga adds that much to the tv deal though that it won't matter. I've always understood tv deals to mostly mean football.

I’m guessing the thought is they’ll contribute a lot on NCAA bball credits? They’re really going to make out like bandits. All the revenue of football but none of the costs.

Wait, you think the new PAC is going to get a ~$15M per school media contract? Apple supposedly offered $20M to the PAC10 (minus USC/UCLA, but with all the others).

The $15M number comes from industry reporters. I don’t think they’ll get that much. I think adding the MW schools does nothing but divvy up the same sized pie between more members, and probably hurts the brand at the same time. The number of schools is a major deal.
Mountain west current contract with those 4 schools is $5M. Imagine what it’ll be without those schools…
Re: A new and better FBS thread
The Good Lord Himself could hand me the final answer key on this and I'd still likely not believe all of it.
It's a shemozzle.

They might get $15M ... but not per school.
Re: A new and better FBS thread
Gonzaga to the PAC in all other sports - NDSU added as a football affiliate to balance things out.
Just throwing it out there.... :innocent:

At this rate it’ll probably be the jacks
