Professional lacrosse is growing slowly but that is by plan.(Are not following other sports leagues like soccer in 70's who grew to fast) and You would probably see over 100 DI schools on men's side but not for Title IX. In spring college lacrosse is on ESPN family of networks and CBS sports network and they carry every playoff game. Championship weekend is usually in Philly or Baltimore at NFL Stadium and usually draw 35k to 40k for both semi and final.. You can really see growth in college game as a lot of mid major schools are now competing and beating the big schools like Duke, Virginia, John Hopkins etc as they can get players in the public schools where most States are sanctioning it as Varsity sport. North Dakota,South Dakota, Wyoming and Alaska are only states without sanctioned lacrosse.

Lacrosse?
What's next?
Adding a Polo team to our equestrian adventures?
It's enough to make you believe some snob from Stony Brook was in charge.

Well....
Polo would make more use out the NDSU Equestrian Center.

The Bison will be the first team to play the University of Jamestown at the Wilson Arena here in Jtown. Being a complete hockey nut I am really looking forward to this inaugural season and beyond. Before that happens the Jimmies head up to Winnipeg to play the University of Manitoba, the same team UN_ plays to open their season.

Re: Get Hockey to NDSU thread
Some of you guys are looking at this wrong. I swear the anti-hockey sentiment for some of you is there just because that school up north has it. Fielding a successful hockey program and being great in football and basketball are not mutually exclusive. I also believe that men's hockey would be competitively and financially successful at NDSU. But I also believe it would be successful at those same levels at either USD or SDSU, whichever one goes first, if they played their home games in Sioux Falls. The downfall to adding ANY men's program is Title 9. In order to start up a program like men's hockey it would need to be offset by adding a women's sport. The sport cited most often is women's hockey, but why? Why not field a women's lacrosse program instead. It would be much cheaper than women's hockey and is growing at a much faster rate than a sport like women's field hockey.
The opportunities are there for the expansion of college hockey. The big hurdle of having a conference to play in is not there as the WCHA is available and is in the region.

I dislike both figure skating and soccer. Combining the two does not change my opinion.

I despise figure skating and soccer. Hockey is far from either. Carry on.

College hockey isn't good.
