If it was the decision of a conference probably, but the remaining teams will never want to add unknown teams with a very limited brand to the conference. They need to sell tickets and an image. Any conference with the 4 Montana/Dakota schools looks good

I'm just being cynical. You are right though. NDSU, Montana, SDSU, Montana St.

The Pac-12 is mobilizing a long-discussed plan to rebuild the league with additions from the Mountain West, sources tell
@YahooSports.
Oregon State & Washington State are targeting Boise, SD State, Fresno & CSU. The schools are applying for membership.

Statement from MWC Commish Gloria Nevarez:
“The Mountain West Conference is aware of media reports regarding the potential departure of several of our members & we will have more to say in the days ahead. All members will be held to the Conference bylaws & policies should they elect to depart. The requirements of the scheduling agreement will apply to the Pac-12 should they admit Mountain West members. Our Board of Directors is meeting to determine our next steps. The Mountain West has a proud 25-year history & will continue to thrive in the years ahead”

Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State & San Diego State leaving Mountain West to join Pac-12 in 2026, sources told
@ActionNetworkHQ. Official announcement is expected Thursday morning, sources said. The MWC schools will join Oregon State & Washington State, but Pac-12 still needs 2 more schools to reach 8-school minimum to qualify as an FBS conference.
MWC will receive a total of $111 million in exit fees. The departing Mountain West schools must each pay a minimum of a $17 million exit fee, which the Pac-12 is expected to help offset, a source said. Also, the Pac-12 must pay the MWC a total of $43 million for poaching the 4 Mountain West schools as part of a scheduling agreement b/w the 2 conferences

Wonder if those posters who called everyone idiots for thinking this could happen will come back and eat their crow/apologize. Thinking of a couple in particular ;)
Re: A new and better FBS thread
The question is who else will PAC invite to get to the minimum of 8 teams? Still need 2 more. Like I said we will probably hear sooner than later.

Here we go folks. This will shake things up. You have to assume this as been in the works for a while, along with other things ...

UNLV, Nevada, Hawaii, New Mexico. Maybe all 4.

You think they would have been named in the report. Unless they are still hashing some things out I suppose.

Probably all they could afford to take from the MWC. Others might have to come from elsewhere - CUSA, AAC, or (gasp) FCS
