The only two half decent programs left (MTSU and WKU) will be leaving also.
MTSU is apparently half bankrupt and wants to cash out on the other teams exit fees before going with WKU to the MAC.
Amazing how uninformed Chapo is about CUSA, yet he wants to join this trash conference to say "yay, we fbs now"
All 35 facebook fans watching the games will cheer. Everyone else will forget we exist.
Thank goodness our school isn't run by morons.

Disgusting. Literally does nothing to bring excitement to NDSU football. I'll save a lot of time and cash on roadtrips to games though.

My gut also tells me the administrators are aware very different changes coming from NCAA that will make the landscape very different. I also don't have any inside knowledge on that. What I do know is I'm nowhere near the inside of this and will await the results. I have no need to be kept in the know. Just like I don't need to know what kinds of things my favorite restaurant or shoe store are discussing behind the scenes. If I owned a retail store that partnered with a major manufacturer I would have different expectations. Fans of a sports team don't have that same need to know. I'm more interested to hear the results of the rules committee meeting on March 1. That directly impacts me.

are you serious!!! How can you not be outraged by the lack of transparency?!?! This has gone on far too long! We need to fire absolutely everyone that is a part of this mess.
If you aren't mad, then you're damn well part of the problem. You fcs forever guys aren't real bison fans and just want ndsu to go back to the dark ages.

FIFY to remove the departing schools ... once WKU/MTSU depart, they are looking at schools like Tarleton and SFA to add to this fine list.
Competitively this will be somewhere between NEC and SLC football.

Yeah, sort of. I cheer for NDSU after UNI is out of meaningful contention.
Which means I cheer for NDSU for most of the season!

Re: A new and better FBS thread
I checked out CUSA's website for their optimistic football schedule the with the departing Sun Belt teams, and got a notice that the site uses Flash. I can't take an organization seriously if they still use Flash.

For the record, WKU and MTSU are staying. Both talked to the MAC, the MAC said yes(informally), then MTSU backed out and said they were staying in CUSA, and the MAC said it was only interested in both, so WKU's informal invite was withdrawn. WKU not exactly happy about the whole situation.
I actually was willing to lukewarmly support a full CUSA move until this last week. That conference leadership is a dumpster fire I'd want no part of. If the conference members fire the top several people, I'd be willing to take a second look, but DB & ML are geniuses for ignoring the CUSA queries while those idiots are in charge..

For the moment ... meaning likely another year or two. Ultimately, both want to leave this garbage.
It is rumored MTSU is only staying temporarily to collect some of exit fee money from other schools departing.
WKU is also supposedly still talking with MAC, and there are rumors of WKU + Missouri St moving to MAC instead.

oh wow, we haven't heard that for the last 10 freakin years. shut up. this is all at the feet of Dean & Matt.
Dean has checked out for at least 3 years now
Matt is just happy to keep this cushy job that all he had to do was keep his hand on the football steering wheel.

Give me a break. All you do is bitch.
I've never understood why, when people want other people to do something, that they often resort to belittling them, calling them names, and demanding that they get fired if they don't comply with their wishes. That doesn't seem like a good way to A) motivate people in general, or B) find their way to the inside scoop that so many of these narcissists crave the most.
I suppose Thursday is your day so have at it. Get to your quota of 12 posts and shame on me for coming to BV today. Just remember that you're muzzled tomorrow per the Agreement, Article 14, Para 14.01.6a Dissemination of Nonsense in a Public Forum.

No idea who "Matthew Dixon" is but he clearly has an antiFBS agenda for NDSU. The lone comment sums it up perfectly.
Sorry Matt, not buying it. It's just a newer version of what you wrote in 2018.

Those facts are about as useful as lakes'. You can't simply assume twice the travel and gameday expense budget linearly based on distances.
That'd be like me saying the month I travel to New York I will have double the expenses compared to the next month that I travel to Miami, because I'll be going on a trip twice as far away.
Yeah, it's probably more expensive. As even Matt Larsen himself has said multiple times on Bison 1660: The money at FBS works out a lot better than people think it will. A better analysis would be to compare the change in overall travel for the schools already in the potential conferences. Those are the ones who would determine if NDSU was joining anyways...
Kudos for getting me to click on a .net url by the way. I forgot how exhilarating it was.

except he is using data from pre 2019, we are 4 plus revenue years from any "financials" he is using/discussing
We all know there will be expense increases DUH! what he doesn't know are the checkbooks out there waiting to open for a higher level, they are there.
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
Any opinion that starts with a detailed look at the B1G as an NDSU FBS option is a joke right out of the box. The air miles look correct, though.
It’s a year old already anyways. Sorry, my bad. I honestly can’t remember if I already saw it. Saw it on a Mac board.
In 2018 I agreed with him, but now (next 2-3 years) the right FBS invite is NDSU’s to go get. Playoffs will expand to 12 and P5 won’t split away, so best go get after it.
Looks like we’ll know who the new POTU is tomorrow.

What you don't know is if those checkbooks support it or not either. Perhaps the NDSU admin does know that.

There no guarantee of playoffs expanding to 12. Or a G5 playoff. Topics that have been around about as long as the NDSU argument of FCS or FBS.

Is this real?
Quote:
In fact, the Bison lost $41,000 in football for the 2018-19 season despite drawing an average of 18,000 fans per contest for 11 home games.
How's that look in 2021 with expenses surely up (7% inflation anyone?) and attendance down to a 15k average? Is TeamMakers able cover any gaps?

Define "lost money" lol. Do you count donations? How about merchandise? Licensing? TV deal? There is so much "general revenue" (and general expenses) across every AD, it's probably impossible to quantify apples to apples.

Comparing charter flight cost to commercial flight cost is apples to oranges. Charter flights are typically priced by distance (or flight hours) and capacity of the aircraft required; commercial is based on other factors in addition to distance such as competition with other airlines, ass’ in seats, seasons, special events, etc. also, hotel costs in the bigger cities tend to be a lot more expensive than those in say, Normal or Youngstown.
So if your distance doubles, your price may double for a charter (not really because their are some sunk costs that would be the similar). Additionally hotel costs would probably increase significantly going to higher cost cities, as well as the food costs.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Travel for football is a complete non issue. The concern is travel for the rest of the sports if we get an all-sport conference invitation, although admittedly there aren't many bus trips as it is. Also, I don't think any sport other than football flies charter. (Correct me if I'm wrong.)

That's probably true.
