The media deal is not likely sustainable if fan engagement continues to decline. That doesn't even factor in what they could lose in ticket revenue and donor dollars if fan engagement continues to decline.

Based on everything I've heard, the only engagement clearly down is attendance. Dom and McFeely have said over and over ratings are excellent, and all the metrics they look at have never really had a drop off.
Will that continue? Who knows, but it is a real risk of taking a crappy conference deal. Again, not defending status quo, but very important consideration.

Maybe. Just think it would be difficult to bet on media engagement remaining strong when attendance is declining as much as it is. Might be slower to decline since there is less asked of the consumer but it will follow.

For everyone saying we ask MWC for FB only no matter the terms, now we know them. PAC-2 apparently agreed to pay $14M for 6 games each and no share of the media deal.

And they're overpaying in the hopes of not having to be locked into a long term agreement with the MWC in the event that better options become available.

Exactly. They have the money to buy one years worth of games and see how things play out. They have enough money to buy additional years if needed too.

What money? PAC media deal ends this summer and nothing else is lined up. That's an instant $30M budget hole they have no hope of filling. CFP has gone to per school instead of per conference payouts, and this MWC deal just ate that up. They're getting somewhere around $20M in MBB credits, but if it took $14M just for a FB schedule, how much will it cost for the rest of their programs? Rose Bowl is a CFP game now.

As of right now they control the remaining PAC12 money.

Washington State Supreme Court says otherwise. There's a near zero chance WSU and OSU will get to keep the entire conference's money from this year. All 12 members are in full compliance with the media contract and deserve equal media payouts.
