Yeah but, said random guy literally claims to be "fourth grade spelling bee runner up" right on his Tweeter page. Major cred. I bet he/she even has a tee shirt!

Matt Larson lied to mcfooly. even Matt is smart enough to do the same as Taylor/Bohl/Klieman did to him

So twitter twat is a credible source?
I was asked by the grand pobah not to repost shit off of twitter.

To be fair if I recall correctly he did break a lot of the CUSA news before when Sammy and JSU announced moves up. For me that’s enough to lend him some credence, he obviously has someone at CUSA who’s giving him info.
Again, not that it matters… didn’t reach out to “me”. Has been a well-explained cop-out
At the end of the day, consultant was told to tell CUSA no because brighter pastures await

If we ever join the B12 it will no longer be considered a P5 conference. Not because of NDSU but if they are adding schools like NDSU they are no longer a high major conference. Using hyperbole in your arguments only hurts your arguments.
And just because Cook is coming from Kansas doesn't mean he'll automatically take us to FBS or B12. Bresciani came from Texas A&M and previously UNC and NC State. You are making a big assumption.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Maybe the play is to hope that CUSA gets absolutely cultured and then NDSU (and some other likeminded schools) could revive the conference in a more favorable situation. Matt Laresen out here playing 5D chess while Chapo is playing pickup bball behind Scotties barn with a couple of Hoople tweakers.

I know but you have to try occasionally to use logic with him in the hopes something may click. I'm not holding my breath.

Especially since he probably doesn’t know what ‘hyperbole’ means.

He probably reads it as "Hyper Bowl" and thinks it will be a lit game to play in when we're FBS.

Yea Dean cashed out 2 years ago. I don't blame him necessarily.
But in his lame duck year he should've swung for the fences with the mountain west. like hard core pressed then for an invite

I trust Bresciani when it comes to making the right decisions for the University. In this regard I think they have been pushing behind the scenes (at least recently). But I would argue that I'm not very impressed how it's been handled from a dissemination of information standpoint.
People are getting restless...

The entire athletic department budget is predicated on fan enthusiasm. Whether in the form of ticket sales, merchandise sales or donor contributions. Moving to FBS will take work but it surely isn't going to ever be achieved if fan enthusiasm continues to wain. My biggest criticism is that they have done very little from a PR standpoint and/or gameday atmosphere standpoint to continue to build fan enthusiasm and grow the overall fanbase of NDSU. I have no knowledge of what is going on behind the scenes (nor do most fans) and thus it is imperative that the leadership find ways to keep the fanbase informed and engaged enough so that they contribute to Team Makers, buy tickets, attend games and buy merchandise. They have not done a very good job with that in the past few years. Hopefully they have learned from some of the recent criticism and make some adjustments soon.

I've come to believe that they honestly don't hear the criticism. I think ML is unaware of any of it. He probably has 4-5 high roller confidants in the donor community who are in his ear telling him that they think everything is hunky-dory. This is no other explanation for the dearth of outreach and public information. He and his staff appear to be blissfully ignorant. They relegate the pro-FBS crowd to a few malcontent agitators. Nothing to see here; all is well. Unless we find out that ML has been begging Bresciani for years to go FBS and Bresciani just wouldn't listen to good reason, I hope the new president fires the whole lot.

Let's say he does. Honest question...does that change your mind? Let's say we could have gone football-only and therefore stay in the Summit for other sports. Hardly any disruption at all and almost no change to the football travel budget. If it turns out that Larson told local press that NDSU has never been contacted, but in fact it was, and we were even offered football-only, would that change your mind about ML or anything NDSU athletics is doing right now? It is an honest question. I totally respect your views on basketball. You couldn't have been too happy about the cloak-and-dagger extension to DR. Would such a football revelation get you on the time-for-a-change bandwagon?
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
If he turned down the new CUSA that's smart. If he turns down MAC, MWC or higher...not so much.
CUSA will generate zero additional interest to the football program.

Well, Matt Brown could be wrong. It is entirely possible that ML was completely truthful. But I think Chapo is right that it is worth some follow-up questions. Especially in light of the DR deal. This seems to be an athletics dept that likes to shut the average fan and the public out.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
The thing that I find most interesting in this entire thread is that some people here ACTUALLY BELIEVE that they are important enough to be in the know on what has been discussed off of the record. They ACTUALLY BELIEVE that since they have not heard that people have had discussions, that no discussions have been had. That is incredibly remarkable to me, particularly given how those same people behave when they DO get any information on another topic. These are the people that bitch, bitch, bitch and find fault in absolutely anything.
The way that you all behave ensures that you and the rest of us will remain in the dark until a grand reveal ultimately happens.

I honestly cannot understand why you guys are content hearing NOTHING from the administration about FBS for years and years, both during times of realignment musical chairs and during lulls. I guess some of us are mentally invested in wanting the team and our athletics program to move forward, so our frustration at an absolute blackout of information/plans/vision comes out.
I certainly don't see myself as important at all. I have two season tickets to basketball. That's it. So, NDSU doesn't need me. But they need several thousand of me. The several thousands of me, and of you, and everyone else on the board, do matter. At least, that's my belief. It clearly isn't yours or the university's position.

As a fan and consumer of NDSU athletics, I'd like to know which is true. ML can speak to the discrepancy anytime he wants. The next time he calls you on Mother's Day, why don't you encourage him to be more forthcoming with the public. He can tell us what has been done on the FBS front, if anything, and what he plans to do. That would be nice.
Not sure what your intent is with a personal insult but if you are looking to remove any sympathy for your opinion then carry on. You are on the right track.
Not sure what credible “national media source” you reference. Thought it was some Tweeter… person. If it’s a Sports Illustrated, ABC, NBC. The Athletic etc. then please advise.
Also, maybe see if you can manage to converse sans the sophomoric insults. Sound good Sport?

Who said I was "content" not hearing anything? I just don't think it should be their priority to keep me or the public informed about things for which they don't control the entire equation. This is a very normal behavior for public endeavors. It really isn't that hard to understand.
Once they let ANY information out, they are completely responsible for managing that entire narrative from that point forward. There's nothing at all for them to gain by providing only partial information.
On the other hand, I would bet that there are a few big donors that know a bunch more than the lot of us and there are reasons for that. One of those reasons is that a big donor probably knows how to keep their opinions private and not be shooting venom on the internet...not making the department's job more difficult.

I'm afraid it isn't that great of a victory. No lottery winnings or anything. But I don't want to argue anymore. With anyone. You are all NDSU fans. You are. Greenfieldbison is. So are all who work in athletics, including ML. I wish everyone on the board and in the NDSU universe the very best. I apologize for any animus directed at anyone in my posts. I don't want to do that anymore. Is it 56 that has the fishing pole tag line? That sentiment is exactly correct. I'm gonna embrace that now.

You are correct, and duly noted. It is wasted time and energy to worry about things you can't control. It is irrational to ignore this truth.

Very magnanimous and healthy I think. May be one of the better posts on this site in a long while.
And you are right, each of us in our own quirky way just wants what's best for the institution, the team, the individual students and of course our fellow fans.
These are definitely in the wrong thread but in case you have not seen them, a little peace offering.

The CUSA is a dog shit conference. These teams have left: Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, Marshall, North Texas, Old Dominion, Rice, Southern Miss, UAB and UTSA. If you read some of the reasons you can thank our lucky stars IF we were offered we had the good sense to say no.

I would not at all be surprised if there's been something long in the works, quietly being negotiated, waiting for some deadlines to pass and some financial guarantees to be secured...perhaps also waiting for the spring sports to end before an announcement. Perhaps we'll hear something in June.
Just to be clear: I know nothing. I'm just saying that I wouldn't be surprised if we hear such news.
