Haven't been there since my sister graduated. Must be getting old.
Yep. She gone.
My folks live on the other side of town so I didn't go much. Liked it though

Haven't tried one yet, but can confirm Spirits has weiners with a variety of toppings on the menu. Also a good place to catch a game on the multiple TVs.

You gotta try the Schack wrap. I heard it’s really good ;)

Re: University of Jamestown to the Great Plains Athletic Conference
JAMESTOWN — University of Jamestown achieved a record enrollment of 1,372 students this fall, surpassing the previous high of 1,290 set four years ago.
This 6% increase includes 953 undergraduate students at the Jamestown campus with growth nationally and globally through the expansion of online degree programs. Students are enrolled from 21 countries and 24 states, working toward degrees in 40 majors.
This success comes during a time when universities nationwide face challenges from demographic shifts, economic factors, and changing perceptions of the value of higher education that continue to shape the landscape, the university said in a news release.

Jimmie’s football team goes to 0-4 after losing to Maryville St yesterday 26-20. It’s going to be real ugly next season when they move up to D2

Re: University of Jamestown to the Great Plains Athletic Conference
Fun atmosphere at the game through. Nice setting. Uj up 14-0. Gives up a kick return after going up 14 and the end of first half interception. Unsportsmanlike penalty td pass given up as time expired sequence was killer

And we have noticed the excitement in the fargo dome as late. 3-4K people. Tailgate. Kids activities. It was fun. St. John’s light type experience

Pump them both up and throw in a Stanley high school game

Hopefully the move up makes recruiting easier. But judging by Mary and Minot it will not.

VCSU put the hammer down on the Jimmie’s 38-7 to retain the Paint Bucket. Man moving up to D2 next year is looking uglier by the game for the Jimmie football program

Maybe the move up will help. I'm not confident in that but I guess we will see

UJ should be competitive with the middle to lower end of the NSIC teams immediately in most sports: track/field, XC, baseball (credit to Coach Tom Hager), WBB, MBB. Tennis and golf teams should also compete. Mens and women's wrestling.......I haven't a clue. Football will be an uphill battle with hopes of beating UMary or Minot State some years.

I forgot women's volleyball. Jimmies have fielded excellent teams and, who knows, may compete right away for a conference championship.

They have 6-1 Dickinson St so the winning streak could well be over
-
Re: University of Jamestown to the Great Plains Athletic Conference
Jimmie's gave Dickinson St all they had in their 35-30 loss. Earlier in the season they got pounded by them so maybe things are starting to look up moving forward. Maybe

Re: University of Jamestown to the Great Plains Athletic Conference
JAMESTOWN — The University of Jamestown is starting a new women’s tennis program with the team’s first season coming in the 2025-26 season.
“It’s something that’s been thrown around a few times,” said Austin Hieb, Jimmies athletic director. “It makes sense as a sport that we don’t currently have and the NSIC (Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) sponsors it. So it made sense and we’re always looking for more ways to make opportunities for female student-athletes.”

Re: University of Jamestown to the Great Plains Athletic Conference
DICKINSON, N.D. — The University of Jamestown baseball put forth a dominant effort to get a 33-0 win over Valley City State University in their third game of the North Star Athletic Association Invite on Saturday, March 22, at Dickinson State University’s Dakota Community Bank and Trust Ballpark.
The Jimmies’ 33 runs are the most they’ve scored in a game in program history. The Jimmies offense was not the only one to make an impact, as their pitchers also threw 8.2 no-hit innings before the bid was broken up by the Vikings’ Christian Ramirez. On the mound, the Jimmies’ Ryan Radkey picked a complete game, giving up one hit while striking out 10 and walking three hitters.

Such a goofy rivalry. I would think Jamestown's natural rival should be Mary. Perhaps that will be the case when they go D2.

Goofy? They are 35 miles east on 94. Been going at for years. Back in the day it got ugly at a few games with the fans. Remember a huge Donnybrook after a bb game outside the civic center. Those were the days

Better get your "yuks" in now. Next fall, the Jims will be playing against bigger and better teams and the crying towels will be out. I can only imagine what MSU Mavericks, Duluth, Augustana, Moorhead, SWMSt, USF, et al will do to UJ. or do they intend to play a JV schedule at first......just to get their feet wet?

Yes, they will be fine. Tom Hagar is the best baseball coach (high school or college) in North Dakota, bar none. I'm amazed that he has stayed at UJ for 25 years. His overall record (with the limited resources at his disposal) of 832-378....that says it all. The opportunities to advance his career beyond UJ have been there, I'm positive. Why he's chosen to stay at UJ and not move on is perplexing to say the least.

Believe me we are all well aware it's going to get ugly for awhile. Hell it's been ugly for the football team for years now

He hasn't left because he loves it here. The guy bleeds orange. When you love a school and community money is secondary. Look up intense in a dictionary and there you will find Coach Hager

Nowhere to go but up for football lol. We will see if some of the programs can find their legs. I'm not super familiar with how large a jump in competition it is to go D2.

Look at the overall records of Minot State and UMary football teams since joining the NSIC; that will give you a glimpse of just how high that mountain is;
going hard after transfer portal players from the regional FCS schools would be the first thing I'd do; promoting the idea of not just playing, but playing right away might resonate with some of those players.

When I lived in ND and worked college baseball, I had the opportunity to umpire baseball games for Coach Hagar; "intense" is a healthy euphemism to describe Coach Hagar.

Re: University of Jamestown to the Great Plains Athletic Conference
Depending on the sport and part of the country, there isn't a huge difference between D2 and NAIA. The top of D2 is much better, but there is a lot of overlap.
