well, you have 473 more excuses to come up with to catch up

Re: A new and better FBS thread
I think 2 reasons alone count enough for any amount of arguments for going up. 1. No conference invite 2. We don't have the money

How those two facts seem to continually escape the brain trust is quite startling.

Sure that is true but there is another question which is " Do we want to move up?"
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
Invite will come with SELLING NDSU to them. Financially it can be done easily. There's millions being missed right now.
Sacred Heart University
Bryant University
That's where we are now. I rest my case.

Again you have failed to realize that even with people selling NDSU there are conferences that do not want us. Again---what is your solution when that happens???? NDSU has been selling itself for a very long time. I have yet to hear of any offers.
But if you rest your case I will bid you fond farewell.

Only if it is the best move for NDSU as a whole. Right now there is nothing realignment wise that would force a move.
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
People another realignment needs to happen to create an opportunity.
It could happen, the Big 12 is a bit of a ticking time bomb.

The SEC West is making this year very exciting. Curious situation they have themselves in.

I just don't see NDSU getting into a situation like that. Don't think we'd bring nearly enough to the table.

By that I mean the Big 12 would take from other conferences and would create an opportunity somewhere else for NDSU, not that NDSU would join the Big 12.

True Story... and That picture is a good one. except NDSU is the smoking hot chick that everyone is afraid to approach because she is so dam hot.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
NDSU has been in a football-only-conference since joining DI. Nobody is advocating leaving the Summit League right away. Before we join a Big Five Conference in 20 to 30 years, we first need to join a lower level FBS conference. Anybody who thinks the QUAD time national champion cannot find a home in one of the 4 lower level conferences, especially when all conferences are looking to expand, is an idiot.
After we have success dominating that conference and have a new 30,000 + seat stadium, then we try to join the MWC--the top non Big Five Conference. At this time, NDSU can probably join as a full fledged member--not just football only. After sustained success in the MWC, then we can realistically look at joining the Big 12 or even the Big 10 (which at this time will probably have 20 to 24 teams.)
Questions? :)

Unless NDSU became an elite school academically we aren't going B1G. I'll just assume you were joking... My sarcasm detector is broke at the moment.

I still don't know how the heck Nebraska got in. The only non-AAU member of the B1G.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Strongman good points indeed,
This is MY OPINION :
David Crum Runs the Ram Club at Colorado State. http://csuramclub.colostate.edu/about/
David Crum wanted to run Teammakers here as well & push for FBS conference while increasing donations 10 fold.
Sadly I'm afraid that's why he didn't get the job.
I have talked about this with a couple ndsu connections, but this is MY OPINION so flame away.
Strongman, we need the NDSU Admin to pursue FBS and we need them to actively approach FBS conferences that's the major issue right now, Dam right NDSU is good enough and brings a lot to the table for a Football Only invite to 1 of the G5's

They were stripped of AAU status around the time they were entering the conference. I believe they were still AAU when they accepted the invite. Too lazy to do the research on the exact timing.

Wow...you gonna share whatever you got there?
On the note of the football only conference. We have always played in a conference where FB and all other sports shared common opponents even though it was through different conferences. If the jump to the belt were for FB only...there would be none.

I wish you would quit calling us the QUAD time national champions until we actually do it. I am still enjoying being 3 time NC!

Re: A new and better FBS thread
And where do you propose we get all the $$ necessary to do this? Not only will we need to raise money for theadditional FB scholarships, we would have to offer an equivalent number of scholarships for a female sport due to Title IX. I think all our women's sports are already fully funded so what sport do you propose we add? Add on start up costs for that sport, facilities, coaching salaries, travel.....and that is not even addressing the cost of a stadium.
And no, a big fundraising thermometer in front of the SHAC is not gonna cut it.

1) increase ticket prices for football by 30%. Since demand exceeds supply this will be no problem.
2) increase teammakers' donations by 15%.
3) increase our TV and radio revenue by 50%. Our contracts with KVLY and KFGO are a joke. We are a regional brand. Not a ND brand.
4) our share of our new conference tv contract should also offset many of our expenses.
5) Revenue from our 1 to 2 Big 5 conference away games.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
1. it'll increase by more than 30% when grandpa's sitting in row 3 40 yard line pay $200 for 6 game tickets into $1200 for 6 games
2. $2.4 million into $10 million is 400%
3. TV/Radio should triple, and ADD FOX SPORTS NORTH... and BARTER out 10 Commercials/per game at $1000/game.
4. MWC/MAC TV contracts give $750000-$1 per university
5. Absolutely

Please supply a source for your ticket figures ? When we get that straightened out we can work on the rest of your misinformation.

Anyone else notice how all of these great suggestions on how to finance all this shit involves someone else (for example people who are actually TM members) footing the bill???

Also, I don't think it would be wise to increase prices like this at this time. I am not so sure we have the perceived demand that would tolerate these added costs to going to watch a football game. Were we not just earlier this week talking about some people 'getting bored' with watching NDSU football (whether it's the students, or season ticket holders, or whatever) and I personally noticed empty seats throughout the dome last weekend, not just the students...and GA tickets have gone unsold last week it seems. Not necessarily saying this is gonna be a trend.
However, when we have football seasons not as successful as the previous three have been, it's just possible that the demand will decrease...maybe even abruptly. In fact, we might even wish that we hadn't kicked all those 'grandpas and grandmas' out of the dome to make room for the 'high-rollers' paying the big bucks...cause they might just jump off the bandwagon.
With things like student ticket allotment, season ticket holders, teammaker dues, and things such as these we should make any changes very carefully IMO.

You are only adding approx 40.00 to youre season tickets. Or 6.66666666 a game. Still cheap as high profile tickets go for. It would add what 3/4 of a million in revenue. Still a very long way to what is needed.
And yes there were many many seats empty through the whole dome.
