What does this mean? Just interest? Verbal? offer?

Goodhue is a small (population just under 1k) town located between Zumbrota, Red Wing, and Cannon Falls. Goodhue's football team lost to Blooming Prairie in the Section 1 A finals by 21-20 finishing the year at 7-3. Goodhue traditionally fields solid football and wrestling teams and has a number of state tourney appearances including 2007 when they won the state title and 2006.
For perspective while Goodhue is an A team, Zumbrota is AA, Cannon Falls is AAA, Red Wing is AAAA, and the three Rochester public schools are AAAAA.
Does anybody know if anyone is looking at Jake Miller from Bismarck. The guy put up big numbers this year. He is a bit undersized but so was Dressler and look how that worked for the school that took a chance on him.
Check out this thread, first couple pages....

There are strong rumors that the Sioux have offered Miller. He is very quick and shifty, but maybe not as fast as Dressler or Ryan Smith. Another comparison might be Mike Sigers. I've only seen him in person once so far this year, but I think Miller can probably play at the FCS level.
I agree...this team has got enough RB's...Voightlander, McNorton, Ojuri, and Sigers are all going to be competing for carries next season. No offense to Miller, I'm sure he's a good player, but it was Smith or it was Miller for NDSU, they wanted Smith a bit more and got him. You can't afford to take 2 nearly identicle RB's when #1.) You already have 4 underclassmen RB's on the roster #2.) You have more pressing needs...LB and DB are two big concerns.
There is a big difference between recruiting a 6'2", 195 lbs. kid as an athlete compared to a 5'7" and 150 lbs. athlete like Miller (Thats just a guess...how big is he really?)...that 6'2" athlete can be put and develop into a player to play nearly every position on the field. An athlete like Miller is rather limited to the positions he could play at this level. You mentioned multiple formations, the only problem with that, we already have DJ who goes every where on the offensive side of the ball, and I have a feeling that Sigers is going to get moved around the formation alot, once again, we already have guys on the roster that do what Miller would do.
DJ will be a Junior, you redshirt Miller. We've missed out on guys like this in the past and its hurt us... i.e. Dressler
nope gostdbison. not gonna happen, he's not that good.
And just because we have guys on the roster that can do the same thing he does, doesn't mean you don't recruit him. Injuries/suspensions/dismissals/recruits not panning out happen all the time.
i think miller is good enough to play for us but as others have mentioned we have more pressing needs... if some of our other positions werent as thin im sure the coaching would have offered him. im sure they evaluated both smith and miller and felt they could only offer one and went with smith because of his strength and power and even speed. miller could play for us IMO but we have other glaring needs to address first... and if we address them who knows maybe we could throw out something to him?
Yes, DJ will be a junior...the other current small, shifty, quick back we have, Sigers, very well be a RFr. next season (Haven't heard what they are planning there)...your missing the point...Smith and Miller are so similar, this team has more pressing needs than to recruit 2 RB's who are just about the same type of player and when there are already 2 on the roster.
Dressler's don't come around everyday, and if that is the only player you can come up that has hurt us, then I will take my chance's and go after a LB or DB...
Bohl on his coaches show just confirmed we have 12 verbals so far, and will have a large class of 22 to 23 kids.
After a crappy season, I am already pumped about recruiting. But, I do love recruiting almost as much as the games.
So far, I think the 12 kids look great. Some of the big O lineman are great looking. A stud WR from Sioux Falls, etc. Some great talent again coming from Wisconsin. I think it will take about two years until we are back to "playoff contention" but these are the type classes that can do it.
Question: Do we sign another QB this class? Considering the Bismarck QB could be moved to safety? Thoughts?
Very glad to hear about the large class...I was a bit worried that after last seasons large class, that this season would be a bit lower. But, with the 12 verbals so far, and at least another 10 on their way until this class is complete, I am loving it.
As for a QB, I say we absolutely try to land another QB in this class...the thing with Thornton is, if he doesn't play QB, he will be playing another position of need on this team. I say if we can land another Jensen or Thornton type QB...absolutely bring in two QB's in this class...
Anyone in the FM area who wants to see Thorton play should check out the ND state championship game in the FargoDome this week.
I've seen Esley play 3 times, but the most recent was this year's season opener against Fargo North.
I saw him play in the 2007 state championship game against South. He started at QB and safety as a sophomore. He played well on both sides of the ball. I had my first thoughts that he was a potential D-I QB. Joked that the Bison should offer him now.
I saw him play in the 2008 state championship game against South (is there a pattern here?). It was the Esley and Brandon Jemison show. They spent much of the game tackling each other. Thorton is obviously a D-I football player, but not sure if QB is his best position.
2009 season opener at North. Thorton is unreal. Very poised, looks like a leader. He makes ALL the throws with great accuracy--even on the run. Prototypical QB size. Very good feet, too. If this is the norm, the kid has a chance to be very special. Someone from Bismarck tells me he is also an excellent student.
Should the Bison recruit another QB? If a real stud is interested, absolutely!
I wish we would try to get a real kicker. Someone has stated it before that its a shame we can't get a good kicker to come to NDSU considering he would get to kick in the FFD. There is a guy down here in Rochester kicking for RCTC who is awesome. Word is though he's going to big time FBS (Ohio State, Florida, some other's I can't remember have been looking at him) I wonder if the Bison even looked at him? His name is Mike Kusnierz from Kimberly, WI
maybe Heagle is good friends with the kicker mentioned above and will join the Bison?
Can we please quit the comparisons between Jake Miller and Weston Dressler.
No comparison imho other than size and ability to make people miss. Huge speed difference.
Another offer,
Adam Dixon, 5' 10", 180, Laveen (Cesar Chavez) AZ, DB http://rivals.yahoo.com/minnesotapre...am-Dixon-93595
I was told the coaches are excited about our offensive line verbals. They were labled beasts or brutes or something to that exstent. Thats exciting to hear!
I'm still waiting to see some linebackers verbal. They could have a great opportunity to play right away!
Which is why we already have him on our *verbal* list ;) http://bisonville.com/forum/showpost...72&postcount=1
We'll see. He's young and he was hurting in the WIU game. Something with his shoulder or arm, Bohl said it hurt him quite a bit everytime he threw. He is extremely athletic and had some big runs against WIU that kept drives alive. His passing should come around, it's a timing thing in the West Coast, sometimes it takes people a little while to settle in, especially if he's been working with the 2nd team all year.
I seriously doubt Mohler will be our starting QB next year.... he has done 0 in his 2 starts to show that he should even be considered the front runner. QB battle in camp - but if i had to guess now Brock Jensen will be the starter next year.
give mohler time... just a rs. frosh. it will take a few games for him to develop and adjust
Here is a article on a kid we have a offer out to, Gilson.

I know the bison has had some kicking trouble this season. Maybe they should take a look at Evan Nolte of Aberdeen Central. He is getting interest from SDSU, Minnesota, and Iowa. There are several other very good kickers out of South Dakota this year as well.

Another player out of Arizona getting some interest from NDSU. WR Ethan Kipili'l 5'11 175 from Chandler, Arizona. It lists his 40 time at 4.5.
