A g6 with a core of Idaho, Idaho State, Montana, Montana State, North Dakota, North Dakota State, South Dakota, and South Dakota State would be pretty sweet. Maybe steal Wyoming from the tatters of the MWC. I wish they would have harvested the corpse of the WAC and done this.

That's a sweet G6 (I guess it would be a G7 if this became real) footprint and fills the gaping void in the current G6 map.

It also would be a pretty neat FCS conference. But, if CUSA can be a "group of" FBS conference, there is absolutely no reason that this couldn't happen.

These states also have a LOT in common, on all sorts of levels, including being peer universities.

Unlike the CUSA which is a low level FBS conference of misfits, this one looks like it would have staying power.

Oh yeah, the reality is that if NDSU goes FBS, it’s going to be a “Group of situation…” the other reality is that this proposed “Group of” conference would instantly be a top “Group of” conference.

The Montana schools add strength to any “Group of” conference. Period.
