Re: A new and better FBS thread
I poached this off the csnbbs board from an attendance smack thread. I'm not sure it means anything but is interesting in regards to what kind of capacity we need long term for an FBS move. 25,000 would put us pretty much in the middle of the pack. Most of these games outside of Wyoming hosting Texas Tech were home openers against lesser quality opponents.

I think it's more about revenue than seats. If the dome expansion happens in December, we will have high donor club seats up top and premium party deck seats in the SE corner.
More food and beverage revenue with the expanded concourse
Also more TM revenue by utilizing the indoor space the Comvention Center will provide
Not only that, a better fan experience will bump attendance
Without the expansion, all we can do is raise prices on what we got

Agree, our expansion plans are fine.
IF we move to FBS, then in 5 or 10 years maybe we'll have to consider something else.
What is ironic is out of all those conferences AAC is the only one that has made a large capacity stadium a condition of entry. And now with the loss of UCF, Houston and Cincinnati they have smaller crowds than some of the other G5.
Re: A new and better FBS thread
This team just got into the ACC, so I don't think stadium capacity is an issue.

Capacity is 32k, but they "officially" had 21k last week.
Thing is attendance is over reported often due to the 15k rule.
If you look at recent game photos, it seems likely they have 15k or less actually at the games.
That stadium is not 2/3 filled.
Re: A new and better FBS thread
SMU clearly will have to increase their stadium; fact of the matter is they will start drawing better in the ACC.

Wake Forest's stadium is that size. They don't need to expand, though they may choose to.

Don't believe that's official yet, but changes could be brewing.
Sankey/SEC was pushing the idea earlier of no AQs, which would make it rare for a G5 to get in.
If they go to 5 AQs and WSU/OSU join MWC under PAC banner, the rest of G5 could be screwed.
P4 champs will always get bids.
My guess is revamped MWC would get it 50-70% of time, maybe AAC 20-30% and SBC 10% of time.
It would be the norm to see MWC or AAC in, and MWC might even get dang near a lock on it.
