Re: A new and better FBS thread
I don't mind this.
"With all the speculation regarding the “PAC-2” and potentially absorbing OSU and WSU, here’s my take on the best scenario for the MW.
Additions:
PAC-12: OSU, WSU
MVFC (FCS): NDSU, SDSU, MSU
*do your research on these three schools before you question it.
This would bring the conference up to 16 total teams and I feel adding these 5 would strengthen the conference considerably. The 3 FCS schools would very quickly be towards the top of the conference, NDSU being a solid national brand as well."

That would make 17 football schools. 16 for olympic sports. None of it will happen unless CBS/FOX kick in more money to cover any expansion. They said no before when the MW was looking for Texas adds. No guarantee they will chip in this time.

That's pretty much always the case with any expansion scenario.
If teams leave, and backfill is necessary, conferences sometimes take the "best available" irrespective of payout.

"Allowing" ... because ML could just raise his hand and say "stop! Take us instead"
Coastal, ODU, SHSU all have one thing we didn't: Location.
All 3 were added to G5 conferences that have lower budgets and care about geography.
Re: A new and better FBS thread
If OSU and WSU join the MVC, what happens to the NCAA basketball credits the PAC has? If they bring in some teams, do they get to keep/split those credits?

They only keep the PAC credits if PAC remains the legal entity they merge under. If MWC teams technically join PAC, then the credits are kept. If PAC shuts down, I *think* the credits get dispersed to the individual schools that earned them.
It is possible, maybe likely that if the PAC-2 join MWC, it will be a reverse merger. The MWC could become the PAC legally. In addition to the basketball credits, they would get a bigger chunk of CFP money, and potentially other assets.

This is the "Lawyers Full Employment" phase and that may last quite awhile..There is a lot of stuff to be unwound. Nothing particularly easy to the possible merger.
