The mountain west won't either. There's this dude out in Wyoming with no qb.

He's up-selling. Subtle but hopefully effective.

The WAC version would?

Re: A new and better FBS thread
It would still be a major accomplishment if Matt Larsen actually came out and said what, if anything, they have actually done in terms of moving up. I'm tired of the bullshit response of "We're waiting for an opportunity". At least have the guts to keep the fans and donors informed.

I'm now in the camp of thinking ML needs to outright say we are exploring and want to move to FBS. Can even say no ones offered. I'm ok with that narrative being out there at this point. For one thing it would calm down the other FCS programs saying NDSU should just move up already.
I also think it's time to try every you can to.bring an FBS team to the dome or neutral site that is clearly a Bison home game. I know "no FBS team would ever do that" BUT I'm thinking there has to be a school that would take our money. I would be ok with way overpaying for such a thing as another statement that NDSU is bigger than the FCS and even the lower FBS.
I know those schools can get a $mil for an ooc game but some school has to be hard up enough to need a third payday. Think of the FCS teams playing two FBS games a year for the money.

Yep:
We’ve hired a consultant
We have agents having discussions
We have an idea on what conferences would make sense
I’ve thought about this more than just enough to avoid answering questions from reporters
Anything. 1660 alluded to things in the works “that they really thought the fans would like”. Something better happen this off-season otherwise we’re going nowhere and ML is just toying with us.

Ha! Nice one
At this point it would probably take us paying an FBS school $1M to play them in THEIR stadium. I would bet we’d have to pay 2 or 3 million if they even stayed on the line long enough for us to finish our proposal.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Just did a quick Duck-Duck-Go search. Unable to unearth any public discussion of University of Alabama attempt to expand the NFL.
I''ll keep digging...

Dar dar Dar. Probably because the Vikings are bitching about it.

Yea, and I'm still waiting for the hottest girl from my high school days to ask me out. Now maybe if I had asked maybe things would be different.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
From here on out it’s really going to be pathetic.
1.NDSU
2.Montana St
3.SDSU
4.Montana
5.ETSU
6.EWU
7.Villanova
8.I Word
9.SELA
10.Holy Cross
11.Missouri St
12.Kenn St
13. Tenn Martin
14.SIU
15.Sac St
16.Monmouth
17.SFA
18.Princeton
19.Mercer
20.UC Davis
21.Dartmouth
22.Austin Peay
23.UNI
24.Harvard
25.Nicholls
Three of the top 25 are IV so they don’t really count. This is what we have to look forward to. 1 team does not belong!

At least you were kind enough to leave off the really, really trashy schools........like UND

Re: A new and better FBS thread
It would be nice if any CAA schools would step forward, with only Villanova on the above list.

Some, like Delaware, have that potential but will they get ‘er done?……

Also, Richmond, Maine, Central Conn, Rhode Island. These schools and the 2 mentioned above.....don't hear shit about them anymore.

Exactly, then add WIU YSU and SIU, UT Chattanooga… all schools are classic FCS programs. Seems like as competition has moved up, they all fell way backward. Would love to talk to FCS fans that have been around since before we moved up.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
UNI and ISUR haven't been all that great either. The true title contenders (for NDSU) now in my mind in order are: SDSU, Montana St, Montana, Villanova, EWU. EWU could also close the doors on the football team at any point too so there's that. I will say it once again, the FCS is in a bad place!!! We could possibly be on the march to another 3 peat and I'm all for titles and trophies but that isn't good for us either.
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
150-12 9 titles in 11 years what more do you want? there's nothing left at this level for NDSU!!!
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
Exactly why CFB needs a boss – to tell these overpaid posers to stop wasting time and do what’s best for CFB instead of padding their own fat asses even further. Unreal

A punchers chance at a playoff and national championship, which exists in every single sports except for NCAA FBS football.

If we could schedule (that's a big if for at least a few years) and beat two top-25 teams and go undefeated, then we might get in similar to Cincinnati.

I'm honestly convinced that the really big difference between the two arguing sides is the timeframe they are using to decide whether it's worth it to jump. If you're only looking at the next 5-10 years, then yeah idk if it makes sense to move up, we're not pulling a Cincy in 5 years realistically.
20 years? 30 years? Crazier things have happened. A lot more likely than a team moving from D2 to FCS and winning 9 championships in 13 eligible years.

I'm not watching the game tonight.

And they didn't belong on the field with Alabama.
A G5 playoff system and Id be fine even in the new, steaming pile of CUSA SHSU is entering.

Yeah, but Cincy had the chance. They got to compete for it, that's what you've been arguing.
I agree with you though. My ideal is a 12 team CFP that a G5 can qualify for if they're top 12, with another 12-16 team G5 only tourney. Willing to settle for 12 team CFP only. No interest in going to Motor City Bowl. Bowls won't be around very long anymore anyways, give it 5 years at this rate. All my A&M coworkers are glad that TAMU didn't play theirs.

Good idea. Top 4 wait to see who they play after first round. 4 teams go home after first round. 12 thru 16 wait for 17 thru 24 for second level playoff first round. Exciting post season. Thre weeks of playoffs, done before the end of December for top tier and second tier. Eliminate conference championships, they are meaningless in the current environment.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
I talked with several Alabama and Georgia fans this weekend volunteering downtown. If NDSU cage up in the conversation every one of them were aware of the Bison championship Saturday. Many mentioned 9 of 11. I was impressed by their knowledge. Obviously our brand is more known because of the volume of championships and recent QBs drafted. But it is known. I still feel we are a desirable option to add to many conferences. It's just a matter of finding the right opportunity at the right time. Enjoy this while it lasts though. It's truly special and should not be taken for granted.

Absolutely, people not having fun or enjoying seasons like this are fools. This will not go on forever and this could be the last championship in our lifetimes. Whether we move up or just lose the momentum. We are so fortunate

Those conferences are not giving up the dollars from their championship games.

Enjoy sure. But it's very likely we're back in Frisco next year.

Sure, but it's also not unlikely that we lose a coordinator or HC, starting QB to injury, or have a misstep in the playoffs. Also could move up to FBS which would make next year our last.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
I found a quick way to join the Sunbelt. I was researching on Facebook and this popped up!
I was going to just click join, but thought I should check with NDSU first.
Pump it up!
