Back in the day, the student section was also open to General Admission so it's hard to compare student attendance now to student attendance then. I do know this: There were empty rows and even some UND fans up in the student section at Dacotah at those games once they moved to November. Ah, but, yeah, I don't think that there were empty seats in the FargoDome student section for UND so that is a good comparison - although I'm pretty sure that they just showed up for the game rather than having to claim their tickets.

But according to Lakes all NDSU has to do is start losing and the students will flock to those seats. Interesting idea.

We win too much that our games are too boring to attend. No wonder other fan bases hate us.

the reserve and claim thing is perfect for opening day & homecoming, but bad for late in the year.

NDSU doesnt have to lose i never said that, and I wont fall for your trap discussing the alternative thereby getting Strike 1 :)

Your generation sucks. No appreciation for anything. No other time in Bison history has been this great and the students are "bored" of it??? Cut their damn allotment to 2000 and give real fans a chance to get in there. Utter disrespect to what your fellow classmates are doing. Students years ago worked damn hard to get the allotment up to 4000 and now the students take advantage of it like they are owed it. Pisses me off as I'm scrambling every week to fulfill requests by fans that are dying to get in and paying a boat load more than they need to.

OK let's stop the "disrespectful" deal. We don't owe our classmates anything. I was with you before you said that.... And agree with the stuff after that.... But to say we are being disrespectful is just silly.

I distinctly remember my fellow students in the mid to late '90s leaving in droves at halftime when were were up 30.

While regrettable, this isn't new, and it isn't unique to NDSU.

The only way to solve this problem is to lower the legal drinking age to 17 and sell booze in the Dome. ;).

Okay. I thought you were saying something that you weren't. My bad on that one.

Though when you go to a game that quickly is either a blowout or at least a very comfortable victory... It is not fun... What is fun, is crushing a case of beer with your friends and watching competitive games.

3600 students out of 14000 on a Halloween weekend and hunting weekend is pretty dam good imo.

lol, so 3600 student tickets were picked up? that's more students than most FCS and MVFC teams get for total attendance at their games

If the goal is to be better than these teams... Ndsu is doing it wrong.

I have no problem with students leaving at say halftime and later. Only take issue with having 500 some seats open when there are many people that want a season ticket. To create a drive and desire in students to show up and stick around until 3-4th qtr then make it a hard ticket to get my reducing their allotment.

Maybe?? Never seems to be the case for any other group of people?? They would hardly even notice a drop of 500 tickets since they rarely sell out.

I'm all for selling to the public, so why make it harder for students? even on a bad game we get a great turnout, we have very little to legitimately complain about

Either it good or it isn't. Leave the qualifier out of it. People have been bitching about them not selling the tickets the students didn't use. Now they are. No need for any bitching on this issue.

who is going to bitch when the 400 open student tickets don't sell?

trust me it will happen and I still have not been to a game that has been 100% sold out
