JFC you're a one trick pony.
You think this money fell out of the sky? Your exalted Gene Taylor took forever to find 35 million for the SHAC and STILL fucked that up.
They got 50 million for this IPF in 3 years and shovels are already in the ground.

Methinks Chapo should just become a Gophers fan so he can watch a "nationally relevant" team.

So you want him to enter NDSU in the "transfer portal" and hope a better conference invites us and then look dumb when nobody has after 10 years.

There is a giant F*cking elephant in the room and he has pretended to ignore it publicly for 6 months. He has addressed that an elephant exists and but has purposefully stated nothing of substance about what the hell their approach to the elephant is.
If they want to stay #FCSforever, state it publicly and reap the consequences/benefits of it. Just be honest about your position with your donors, and we could put alot of this to rest instead of keeping so many of us on the hook donating more and more for something the admin has no interest in in the first place. So irresponsible and dishonest, for ML not to be forthright in their intentions. Its astonishing how no one is holding his feet to the fire on this

Exactly. I prefer having Kolpack, Izzo and McFeely do the PR work on this question. Let ML stay "clean", although I disagree about the "still here in 10 years" thing. I expect we’ll be long gone by then. Hopefully we all live long enough to see it …

Re: Indoor Practice Facility
Fundraise the City, University the amount of money around town is what's a good word for it. Unbelievable.
Uncle Doug always comes through.
People in Grand Forks think a downtown Grocery store is something Fargo is jealous of. Ha
Why did the Blattner Company or any other Minnesota company allow the U of Minnesota cut athletic programs?
How many cities in America have an endless supply of cash like this one? Lucky city.

I guess it's not a priority in Fargo. Challenge these guys and see what happens.
Maybe there running out of room.
How about a 75 Million Dollar downtown Basketball arena. Before the game and after the game Bison Burgers and Buds.
How about a new 250 Million Football Dome Downtown. Make room.
Top it off with an invite to The Big 12.

Epic razed the hotel so that kinda sucks, but on the other hand Grand Forks has a downtown state park and a sixteen-plex theatre. The surviving pre-flood architecture is better though.
Downtown Hugo's should make big money since there isn't another grocery within 3 miles.

Beware the Aggies, I guess. What about the Aztecs and the B12? Right ...
NDSU would do just fine in the MWC. Just fine
What did the MWC say again … "If football success on the field matters ..."
So tell me MWC. Does it??

Re: A new and better FBS thread
Yes Mountain West is the logical play. mostly Land Grant University's like NDSU

There are some people who care about GF. Just not the right people.
They seem to care about Jamestown.

Dan is the School of Science branch in Fargo going to be apart of tri college?
You'll have to change the name?
You can play football at SU and be a Plumber. Or whatever they offer at Fargo Science.

Hmmm weird, no I dont recall saying that at all! Its almost like you made that comment up out of whole cloth!
If I recall correctly, I said:
"I just want him to make ANY statement, not veiled in double speak etc about whether or not they desire FBS or not, notice the crumbling FCS or not, and what-if anything- they are doing or have done within their power to address the situation, or if they believe there is nothing to be addressed in the first place!"
If you believe that addressing a question about the future of the football program should be completely off limits for the ATHLETIC DIRECTOR of the college, then AD position is completely and utterly useless. Honestly astonishing that you think making asking ML to make a comment about the landscape of FCS football, and our position in it, just too crazy of an idea to be entertained. lol
-
Re: Indoor Practice Facility
There's a cute little subset of Bisonvillers that represent .0000001% of the fanbase that seem to think the AD needs to get on the media and show his ass by saying no conference wants us right now.
What a great statement to the donors, weakness and failure.
Your delusions of grandeur do not conscript the leadership into availing you of those silly notions.
-
Re: Indoor Practice Facility
judging by attendance you might want to adjust that percentage

please tell me, in detail, what would be inappropriate about an athletic director commenting about the current position, and future positioning of the subdivision and of the place of their program in it?
I'm sure your answer will be utterly and completely fascinating

The clear statement is where NDSU will sit eventually. FBS is the top tier, full stop. Putting Akron in the same division as Ohio State is stupid as fuck but organizationally that's where they are.
Saying NDSU wants to be FBS would be against what their stated goals are, to be rightfully in the organizational second tier.
A lot of nuance, I get it, hard to understand what's going on if you don't hear "bUt muH fBS!!!!1!!!

And yet, note the first line - https://twitter.com/McFeely_Inforum/...43708725465089
"A number of people in NDSU athletics want to go to the Mountain West if possible."
I doubt Akron survives in FBS, FWIW. I know a few people on faculty there. The long knives are out and they are sharp ...
Correction: "knew" ... they all left for greener pastures due to budget cuts

I'd bet they would also like to be in the Big 10.......if possible.

Honestly, everyone acts like ML needs to just go on Tik Tok and give one of those promposals to the MW and they will immediately say yes.
Nobody wants football only schools anymore, especially ones that don't offer anything else.

Re: Indoor Practice Facility
Instead of just screaming Mountain West/FBS, has anyone thought of contacting them and seeing if they've considered NDSU? Have they talked with ML? The deputy commisioners email is easily found. bgilliland@TheMW.com

Try it and you'll probably get a generic answer that the conference is always considering options for adding new teams. They aren't going to say that they haven't heard from NDSU or that Matt Larsen did call and we told him to pound sand.

I'm not gonna try it as I'm good with whatever NDSU does. Who knows what they'll say. Just saying it's an option, you're probably right on their response but you never know.

Re: Indoor Practice Facility
So now we have another thread that's become all about FBS. I'm all for going but we don't need to ruin this board by injecting the topic into every single thread. Pretty soon, CAS is going to be taking more de-wormer due to the infectious nature of FBS talk on BV.

So you have no answer. I understand they have said the 2nd tier thing in the past. but everything has changed so incredibly since that time, to pretend that our situation is the same as before is to completely ignore reality. It also ignores the reality that ML said this calendar year that if teams start leaving the FCS, it may be time to start reevaluating our situation. You cant pick ML soundbites you like, and ignore the ones you dont. He said both. I want someone to ask him to simply clarify.
Its wild that you think having the AD address a question about the changing landscape of the division is just too insane and inappropriate that it doesn't even merit a response. lol. Its not "mUh fBs!" to ask a question about the deterioration of the FCS and have ML comment if it concerns him or not.
I know you dont want to go FBS, and that's ok, but all of the endless pearl clutching at the idea that someone should ask a question to the man in charge is pretty ridiculous to me

You can do a freedom of information request for all the presidents/AD's of Mountain West schools and Matt Larson.
Problem is people have wised up and tend to user burner phones now lol

I think it is impossible to limit ALL FBS talk to a single thread. It is an issue that permeates so many other issues. Think about the Bison Fatigue thread. That isn't necessarily an FBS thread. It is a thread to speculate about the causes of fandom decline. But of course FBS is going to be a part of that discussion. I see the thread moves as a silencing of dissent. Which is fine. I've wasted too much time already over the past few months thinking about this issue and arguing a position. Fans don't have a say. We're not moving to FBS with the current leadership, which means the clock will run out and we won't be moving to FBS at all. Not much left to discuss that hasn't been discussed. I'm going to move on. The basketball season awaits my undivided attention.

Re: Indoor Practice Facility
Seriously, this isn't an FBS thread.
